Here is what is being released for July. Its an Apocalypse release month, and while we still do not know what is in the book, now we can see what is scheduled for a release. New dice, templates, a collectors edition etc.

While I was hoping for more of a model release, its still exciting to see what we are looking at. The Tesseract Vault and Khorne Lord of Skulls we have seen through leaks, and of course images are out of the new box for the shadowsword. Now we just get the chance to fill in the rest of the blanks.

Enjoy

  1. WOW look at those prices. Now tell me that this is not a money grab for the start of financial year.

    1. It's only a money grab if people willingly pay for it. Even then, it's on the people, not GW.

Just look at these kits compared to the PP Colossal/Gargantuan kits. From a detail and versatility standpoint, these plastics will blow those away.

      Delete
    2. The difference with PP is that you will only usually need one of the Colossal/Gargantuan kits whereas recently for GW they try and make you buy multiples to fill your points.

    3. You have to be a special kind of crazy if you want to field more than one of the apoc kits.

      Delete
    4. And GW continues to follow the lead of PP and their Colossal kits. If there are any baneblades laying around your store - here's a chance to get them Ebay! YGTBFKM on this deal.

  2. Hm, that price seems awfully high for just a supplementary rulebook.

    1. Did you see the pricing on the first supplement they put out? For 2 pages of rules...

  3. JESUS CHRIST!!

    300 CAD for the collectors?

what the hell, hope thats more than the book

  4. Any idea what the bombardment dice cube is? Isnt that just a scatter die haha?

I was preparing for the price of the Tesseract Ark but it looks really awesome and hopefully we get some of its rules or more images soon!

    1. *Tesseract Vault :P but that one is also very expensive too.

    2. The pricing is no surprise; that's what good miniatures cost anymore. Budget for it, or don't buy it. Either way, quit whining. Whining hasn't stopped the price increases, and the price increases haven't slowed GW sales.

I'm excited to see the rules.

    3. I agree, Games Workshops miniatures have for the most part been excellent. One of their biggest issues right now, is just poor pictures that do not show off the model as well.

I had an extremely good time putting together my Wraithknight, it was well designed, great detail, and is an excellent model.

      Delete
    4. I wasn't whining about the price. Just saying I had prepared for such a price. If nothing else I own at least one of every Necron model they have ever produced so this is no exception anyways.

  5. $250 for a collectors addition and gamers addition, my god. Somebody at GW has a serious drug problem and is supporting it with other peoples plastic problem. I can understand the $75 for the rulebook going by what the other books cost but what do you get for another $175.

    2. According to Kronk over on DakkaDakka:

"Collectors edition is a replica of an inquisitors travel case or some such. (Limited to 1500 world wide) Has the Rulebook, and some other swag.

Gamers edition ( Limited to 3000 worldwide) includes rulesbook and a case big enough for 4 Baneblades or 14 regular tanks."

So thankfully not just expensive books this time.

  6. I'm very excited for the three Wall of Martyrs terrain sets.

As I don't play Apocalypse I will be I be only buying the rule book if it contains the rules for the Wall of Martyrs terrain.

  7. Ugh, GW's 6th ed pricing is brutal.

Plus I was hoping for a Tyranid model, or something that I could be excited about. Instead, we're getting $22 Space marine models. Color me unimpressed, this is not what I need to get back into this game, personally.

    2. They said army will get a model (if you consider including allies). I guess Tyranids don't count, hah.

      Delete
    3. Yea the original rumor had ( except nids) after the comment about every army having a super heavy. Lol at least they remembered to tell us we weren't getting anything.

    4. Oh, hah, missed the 'except nids' part.

  8. No more new models? I'm so disappointing.... :(

  9. I am beginning to get tired that every time someone says that the prices at Gw are geting mad, someone appears saying simply "if you don't like it don't buy it". WTF is that comment adding to the comments section? can we or can't complain about whatever we want in a webpage???? The prices are ridiculous, and I can tell it as a truth because no 73 pages book in the market can cost more than 20$, except GW ones. If YOU don`t mind paying more, I DO!! can't I say it?

    1. There's no one who can stop you from saying it...so just say it. Who cares what others post.

Just to prove my point about saying it...I don't think the models are overpriced. There, I said it.

You think the models are overpriced- there, you said it.

      Moving on...

    2. If you don't care what others post, you are doing a monologue, it is not exciting to talk to nobody, it is not the point of a blog. In a blog people talk about different points of view and comment things, some of them are popular othrs don't, but as long as you are being polite and respectful your opinion should be welcome and considered, more or less. What I can't stand is the final solution:
      - Model's are not what I expected? Got a solution: Don't buy them
      - I wanted to have flyers for my army but they are terribly horrible? Solution: don't buy it.
      - The rules of my last codex are broken/terrible?: No prob, don't buy it
      - Prices are not exactly what I think they should be?: Don't buy nothing
      - I would prefer they don't mess with rules doing supplements in english only?: Don't buy it
-I like the new eldar rules but I'd prefer they focus on infantry rather than doing a monstruous robot?: Don't buy it
-I think apocalypse is just an expansion, and think you shouldn't pay more for the expansion than for the normal rulebook?: Don't buy it.
-Finecast is an oax and prefer to have my older metal models? Don't buy it
      - I really hate that they don't update their really older models? Don't buy them at all.
The end of discussions, great attitude.

    3. AND... forgot to add... whenever I finally use a lot of explanations and "the defender" feels trapped, then the final solution: "THIS GAME IS NOT FOR YOU"

    4. Maybe they are right and this game is not for me.I know it's not much to them ,but I have about $1000 in a Deamon army that's not "competitive" some I painted 20yrs ago.I also have about $2000 in space marines, and another $2000 WFB ,and maybe $300 in Necromunda .It wasn't like this 20yrs ago. Maybe they are right.

    5. I may have spent that amount too but one thing is to spent $6000-8000 throughout your whole life (I am 40 years old!)and finally get 400 lotr minis, three 2,000 points army (IG, Tau ans Ultramarines) and a whole battleboard with eight cities of death buildings and another thing is wasting more tan $200 in JUST one apocalipse book and a Baneblade. Only ten years ago I even didn't think how much that things costed, never seen a Price, only the mini or the book I wanted and just bought it. In this ten years I have been promoted in my job, got a hard turn that gives me almost twice money than before, BUT i get discouraged and see patiently (of course forget about 24 hours bundle) what is going to be next, and buy with A LOT of care. And of course with $200 I can do a lot of good things other tan "adding" some rules and a new monstruous tank... in fact, this doesn't guarantee more fun. The best game I have ever played was a great lotr strategical scenario in just ONE square from our tabletop in which my cousin was using a squad of dwarves (only ten) and I played a band of moria goblins and just a troll. It was GREAT! and we enjoyed a lot... and our backs weren't aching as usual!!

    6. @Rickyard: Why is my opinion less "legal" than yours, just becase I don't care so much that some models are expencive? You know what I intend to do about Apocalypse? Yeah that's right, not buy it.
They are expencive models I rarely would get to use, I don't need them, so I don't need to get them.

Has Warhammer gotten expencive? Not so much more than what it was when I dabbled in 2nd edition, still remember the prices of single models being about the same if you factor in inflation.
Sure some kits have gotten more expencive, but all in all Warhammer has always been one of the more pricy hobbies out there.

  10. I'm not one to normally say it, but the Apoc units are too expensive (LOB/BB/TV). Maybe if they were ultra powerful radically modeled mainstream 40k legal models ... maybe ... but ... they're not. This is the first time I've seen it get where it causes me to think immediately "I'll never buy one of those" ... it just doesn't really compare on any level to scale models or anything else.

    2. Well, all the models are for none of the armies I personally play.

Not to mention that it is so rare for me to even consider playing an apocalypse game, that the models even if cheaper are not on my list of things to pick up.

I will probably end up with the book, and if it is something amazing.... well then the chips will fall where they may.

So yes, I see the point, and I am sure that these models are going to be for centerpieces to armies, or for people that love apoc.

      Yes though. Very expensive models.

    2. Its got parts for a shadowsword in it?

      Delete
    3. So the parts to build a shadowsword are 100$ worth?

      Delete
    4. Both the Shadowsword and the Baneblade are currently unavailable on GW's webstore. This list only shows the Baneblade while an earlier rumor said the Shadowsword was getting repackaged. I think the two kits are similar enough that they could include a couple more sprues in the Baneblade box and make a single kit to save on packaging. They did the same thing with the Tau Hammerhead and Sky Ray kits.

      Delete
    5. Yeah, the one kit now having the option to make a dozen different tanks. Extra sprues that have to go in and what not.

      Delete
    6. So in fact you finally pay more for having the options... but finally you get ONE tank, like before. I prefered TWO tanks for this Price. In fact, I'd prefer a couple more of chimeras or another Leman Russ.

  14. What a huge missed opporunity. Not even new models for Imperial Guard artillery, just a repackage and price hike for a tank that's years old.

The Lord of Skulls thing I don't like. It just looks like a cheap poundland toy. Sorry, not interested. Will save my money.

    1. Don't you really feel that so much repackaging and increasing prices leads us to LESS workers in GW so they don't have to pay them and anyway try to earn the same amount? Less production, less workers, less production, but increasing prices? I worked in a restaurant that did the same: it was always filled with a crowd of hungry bastards that wasted a Little of their spare time eating menú dishes. Then my boss decided to increase prices of the base menú: the result was less customers but the same earnings... of course getting rid of a couple of waiters... next year he did the same... almost worked before people began to think that their dish wasn't according to the Price they paid, then suddenly everyone went to restaurant next door, and my job finished along with the restaurant.

    2. If you're saying that higher prices leads to fewer sales, then yes, it does.

      Eventually something will give.

      Delete
    3. You have to factor in how many of each model they expect to sell. Apocalypse isn't as popular as the rest of 40k, so they will obviously sell less of the models. So having a higher price will mean that they can earn back the cost of development faster.

No, they are not reducing staff over an Apoc release. In general GWs games seem to be selling very well, despite what a lot of people seem to paint a picture of.

  15. i was actually hoping for the new GD models that i've heard about for some time. maybe it's just wishful thinking, but i was still kinda holding my breath. Hope the CE/GE for the new apocalypse book is worth the $250. I wonder what makes the special editions roughly 3 times more.

    1. The cynic in me says "a dust jacket".

According to the release schedule, that's it for Apoc. It's all underwhelming. I don't knock the efforts, but yes, I really wanted new plastic greater daemons as well. I don't believe they exist.
