Apparently the next codex supplement is for Tau, according to the latest bits of information floating around. It was found in the White Dwarf, and is apparently coming out later this month for the digital version. I am going to imagine that the hard cover copy will be a few weeks behind it.

Please remember that these are not yet verified, but look real.

Farsight - A codex: Tau Empire Supplement. Looking at the blurb underneath it seems to indicate it is a Tau Iyanden style extra, and once again mentions rules for using with your Tau.

I can confirm this is true. Digital release is month of July for Tau supplement: Farsight Enclave. Reading it now in WD.

  1. digital only? I hope not. I support the release, but I really hope they make a physical copy.

    1. I am going to imagine that it is very much like the Iyanden supplement. Digital release first, followed later by a physical copy.

    2. WD only mentions Digital release for iPad only.
Also 40k rulebook will be on ipad this month, and Apoc rulebook will be available in 3 parts for ibook: Rules, Datasheets, and scenarios (based on third war on armageddon)

      No mention of Android stuff

  5. Curious to see what'll be in it. Especially given the defining character is already in Codex: Tau. More close combat oriented signature systems? No Ethereals allowed? Maybe the Suits to Troops move people were wanting to see in the main book? I somehow doubt that one though, Iyanden may have let you take 5 spirit seers in 1 HQ slot but it didn't actually move anything's FOC slot. If they weren't bold enough to move Wraithlords to Elite with Iyanden I doubt we'll see any major FoC shenanigans with Farsight.

    1. I doubt the whole suits as troop thing, too. For one, its not a good idea since its only a squad of three (or up to 9 if you take drones, but let's face it, those are ablative wounds...). Only a 3+ save (4+ for the drones) and T4 with two wounds? Not to mention pretty pricey once everything's all said and done, and mediocre stats. Overall, crisis suits, IMO, would actually make a terrible troop choice. Now, if it altered the squad size to maybe 5 suits or more, then a single full squad may be viable. If not, I'll stick with FWs and Kroot.

Now, if the book unlocks PATHFINDERS as troops, I'm down for that... :)

  6. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The theme of my Tau army is Farsight Enclave, so I am REALLY excited about this!!! If anything, for the fluff alone; maybe we'll finally get insight into what's going on with him and what happened that made him turn from the Empire...

    2. considering his age I always imagined Farsight as being a title like the Dread Pirate Robert in princess bride. The current Farsight isn't the real farsight either. His name is shven.

    3. I believe that, too. Another theory, there's more to the Dawn Blade than we think, and it broke the "programmed" lifespan of 40 years in the Tau genome for him...and it told him to kill all the Ethereals in his cadre. :)

    4. Yep i could imagine it to be that the ethereals programmed all tau with obedience and a set lifespan. Then dawn blade breaks programming, farsight kills ethereals and frees rest of tau with him:-P

    2. Yet is correct. From what ive read all codexes are gonna get at least two supplements. Although kroot is more of a mini dex....

  8. I'm really looking forward to someting compeletly outrageous like, farsight in a riptide built for closecombat instead. It would be a seperate upgrade kit for the riptide. Possibly allowed a couple of bodyguards still.

    2. You laugh, but the codex does mention specifically that the Farsight Enclaves have a number of XV104 suits...

  9. I'm pleasantly surprised that a codex supplement is being released alongside a major, unrelated release. I was slightly worried that we'd get codex supplements as the main release of the month and the focus of the White Dwarf, thus slowing the current release schedule. Nice to see I was proved wrong.

  10. Well, that's somehow understandable since Tau players really seem to enjoy Farsight's fluff. Not to mention that he truely hits like a truck, along with his Crisis escort... Looking forward to seeing what they'll add to what already exists in the current codex.

  11. And here was me thinking id get away without buying anything this month

  12. A farsight supplement would be interesting. Probably no ethereals and a limit on ripides sand other new units. But you'd need a few special rules to offset these. FW teams being fearless or automatically having the bonding knife ritual would be great (they are utterly loyal to farsight)

  13. Maybe multiple Fireblades per HQ slot like we all wanted?

    1. Oh god, please prepare some Cadre Fireblade's Blisters ! A dozen of them, please!

  14. I really hope they don't limit riptides. I run 3 of them alongside my far sight death star. If it is so I'll stick to c:Tau to run my enclave.

    1. I doubt they'll do the bullcrap FOC like they did in the last edition. GW knows it pissed everyone off to no end, and made absolutely no sense. Plus, the new fluff pretty much says the Enclaves have been getting new tech leaked to them somehow, and the Enclaves are highly developed and industrious now. As for Kroot, they'll work for anyone if they're paid enough, screw what the Ethereals say...

  18. Boo, this may mean I start a Tau army, always liked Farsight . . .

Hopefully setting a new precedent on having Supplements released alongside the larger releases!

Anyone hear if this is going to be how supplement releases are done?

As a side note, this may be good for DA players if they get a supplement close to the release of C:SM if there are a lot of new general units.

  19. Did one of your sources say Tau was getting a supplement but had not been started yet. Either this source was mistaken or this is going to be a quickly pumped out garbage so GW can fill pockets with cash. I'm hoping your original source was mistaken.
