I have not been able to verify this, but its being said that the Tau codex is no longer available to retailers. I am assuming that means independents, but its also mentioned that there are several models that are also no longer available.

Tau codex no longer available to retailers
Just stopped in my local nerd store to get some what-nots and the lad in charge of orders said that the Tau codex is no longer available as well as the Hammerhead, crisis suit and one other unit (I forget which one). He said when that happens to a codex "it is just a few weeks out, so expect to see it by April." This was some good news to me!

    1. Yes, 40k needed a tune up to get all these armies modernized. The hegemony of tournament game tables is getting old pretty fast. I love diversity!

  3. I actually heard that Tau are getting discontinued. Yep, going the way of the squats.

    2. I thought they were doing a Codex: Xenos where they roll up Eldar/Tau and a few other xenos races that don't need their own books :-o

Seriously though, I don't know how I'm going to deal with the new suits. I'm guessing that I'll need to replace/add a bunch of new models, but I'm anxious to see if its because A) its a new, awesome unit, or B) because its a new, awesome model. If B, I'll probably just upgrade my crisis team leaders to the new model and use the old ones for the standard suits. I'm so conflicted!

    1. I will make all my old suits into a 'bronze statue'.. A scenery piece, i mean. :)

    2. that'd be a lot of statues. At least, for me it would be.

    2. Nay lad, anything under £500 and I'll be doubting your dedication to The Greater Good.

I also need to kill some of your dark green traitor marines here at some point...

  10. Tau just would come out in the month I'll have less in my gaming budget than usual. Still I think I can put aside enough for the codex and one kit, that will hopefully placate me until I have the money and time to get back into Tau seriously. I'm very excited for this release

I'll be interested to see what happens to the Hammerhead kit. What new options are added, if any other than the Skyray parts. The devil fish and it's variants are some of my favorite tanks in the whole game.

  11. As a tau player who did NOT put his tau on the shelf for the last several years (yes, I played tau, even in tourneys all through 5th, yes, I am a glutton for punishment ;) I am very excited with this news.

A do indeed hope they include the FW units (or at least new units that I can use my FW models for) after all GW, its easy to do, and why not support those who have been supporting you*?

While tau are not the only army I play, they are my first, foremast and favorite (and the ones I play competitively).

Overall I have been quite impressed with the recent books for sixth - here is hoping the new tau dex is strong and balanced.

*(or at least giving your shareholders dividends?).

  12. So I wonder if the Xenos Wave, like Wave 1 (aka, The Chaos Wave), we will get two Xenos and one Imperial codex? Maybe Tau, Eldar, and Codex: Space Marines, or possibly Black Templars?

  14. we just had a dual release of fantasy and 40k, it will be interesting to see what is released next. I LMAO to the guy up top that said he thought they are discontinuing Tau, because if GW did that, it would piss off so many people that have them in the closet it would be hilarious (considering how good Tau are in 6th).

Anyway, I hope a High Elf release comes before Tau. Make them wait just another month.

  15. The Tau codex is still very much available via direct order. I'm on the UK regioned site, so not sure if its changed for other countries.

    1. However here in the USA my FLGS attempted to order a Tau Codex direct and was informed that it is no longer available. At the same time the GW rep did not confirm that the new Codex is going to be released. But we all know what that means. Good times are finally at hand!

  16. This is the first 6th ed release since the main rulebook that I've really gave a crap about - I've no interest in either DA or CSM, or Demons. Tau on the other hand, were one of the armies that convinced me to come back to 40k after a loooong gap, and this sounds like it's shaping up to be awesome. I might even spring for the LE Codex, but that's a maybe...

I'll probably forgo replacing my current fairly large battlesuit collection in favour of adding whatever the new shinies are - a couple of the flyer and a couple of the uber suits sound good. Not sure on the Kroot, will need to wait to see what the options are before I decide.
