There are times when the goodness (or the Greater Good in this case) just keeping on coming. More Tau rumor bits are filtering through our community, and when we keep on seeing this many hints, it just seems the puzzle pieces are all starting to add up.

Does this mean I am on the April release wagon when it comes to a Tau codex? Well, I at least have one leg on the wagon, and one leg still on the ground. Of course that means that I am being dragged down the road. So here's to looking at a hopeful Tau codex Release sometime before I get hurt.

There was some later developments today about the release of Tau coming in June. These are listed below from shaso_iceborn. Its also worth mentioning as well that Hastings had predicted Tau in April as well.

The owner of my local store told me yesterday that he was unable to get a copy of the current Tau codex to put on display. When he pushed he was told that he could not get one because there was none any more, he should wait until next month to order one that there should be plenty then.

I play Tau myself and I am beginning to start to believe :-)

Eliath pm'd me with some info from WD that supports the idea that Tau are pretty imminant and also that it seems the FW suits are still compatible with the new kits

Could well be nothing but in reading through at least a couple of articles in this months White Dwarf, there are references to Staffers working on Tau forces.

Jeremy's article starts with him working on a FW Battlesuit and later someone is mentioned to be working on a Tau force.

Likely nothing, but are staffers getting their Tau forces moving prior to release... only time will tell.

Today a friend of mine working in management for a hobby store received a call from his supplier asking for all tau hammerheads, broadsides, and codex to be pulled from the shelves and returned to gw.

  3. Three 40K codices by April -- seeing 5 or 6 codices in 2013 doesn't seem so unrealistic any more, does it?

    1. I think we'll still see a specialist release in december, and half the months will likely be fantasy or splash releases, so 6 seems more likely

      Delete
    2. I doubt we'll see seven or eight, I suspect that, as GW are sitting on a pile of mostly-done books they will alternate them monthly between 40k & WFB, with Daemons being the appropriate exception. AFAIK at the moment it is from next month Tau -> High Elves -> Eldar -> Lizardmen -> ?

  6. May had been reported by two or three sources as being the release month for HE, given the novella release schedule from BL. I you go back a few moths you will see the BL releases correspond to the army book releases (at least since DA I think).

    1. To turn more hammerheads into skyray kits.

    2. previous rumors had additional load outs for the Hammerhead's, so would still mean they would pull out Sky Rays as well, unless the rumor for load out i wrong

  11. Looks like the skyray/hammerhead box will just become a dual kit officially, only makes sense.

Can't wait to see the new broadsides! The old ones ALWAYS looked dorky.

  12. I want to apologize for the confusion earlier about a June tau release, that will be for Apocalypse Redux (apoc for 6th ed) but I am not certain if it is late June or early July.

I have been hearing rumours about a plastic Warhound but personally I wouldn't get my hopes up.

As always there's the rumor about a plastic Thunderhawk as well, perhaps with fliers being in 6th the rumor finally has merit, I however am taking lots of salt with this one.

    Passing along as always

    2. better not be!! My 600 quid Chaos Reaver Titan will not be happy at cheaper inferiour plastic brothers.

though.... I could always get a plastic Warhound....

  13. in my opinion, that is not an index of the tau upcoming, and, taking int account the current state of affairs, it could be any of the two codex.
for instance, what appears in the WD is not a signal of tau updating; if it depended on the mentions in the WD, the SM are mentioned even more. Besides, the shpper's word on the arriving of tau codex to his shop is neither a clear index...
Finally, the "Shadowsun" novel hasn't been published by Amazon, or BL, so you can not say that tau are going to be updated soon because of that.
i can't assert that tau are not being updeted,as i can't assert it regarding eldar. I'm just saying it is so soon to know it without some more reliable data.

  14. With both Tau and the new IA/Krieg hitting in April, I am going to have to invest in some kidneys...

  15. Going through parting shot photos in the past white dwarf magazines, they have all somewhat foreshadowed something in a later issue. (Gandalf, thorin - hobbit; WoC lord, goblins/spider - battle report vs those armies The final 2 shots are a necron night scythe and a hive tyrant surrounded by space wolves. In particular I noticed how the text of the necron photo states "superior technology means nothing unless wielded by a superior being". Now what other army is categorized by its rapidly evolving (some would say superior) technology? Tau! Therefore I'm putting forth my prediction that the battle report for the new tau codex will put them vs Necrons in a true battle for shooting superiority.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The night scythe foreshadowed the 'Death from the Skies' release.

There was talk of Tyranids being featured in the next WD, which would tie in with the parting shot this month.

  16. Personally I'm not into Tau, but I love Kroot, so these rumors have me pumped! Can't wait to hear more about this Kroot HQ!

    1. Im on 7 armies.

Imperial Fists, Black Templars, Dark Angels, Imperial Guard, Grey Knights, Tau, Chaos Space Marines, Chaos Daemons, and Necrons.

      Crap.. thats 9.

    2. Lol now a third army doesn't sound so bad. My only concern is dipping my toes into the tau pool only to see an Ork or Nid realease before year end.

  18. The rumours do look a tad flimsy at the moment, but i really hope we do see an april release. If we are going to see allies -as rumours suggest - by june or july, then having the space commies on board and in peoples collections again would be great. Cant wait

    ReplyDelete
  19. If tau keep their s10 rail guns then they will probably have the best flyers in the game. For anti flyer duties at least.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If there is only 1 Railgun and its BS 3, it will potentially be good, or a waste of shots. If it comes with an ion cannon upgrade, that would probably have more of a chance of taking out flyers.

Railgun and strafing run would be elite, though.

      Delete
    2. You would probably have to marker light (laze the target) for a railgun on a flyer to work out.

      Delete
    3. I'm not sure that we'll see any railgun-carrying Tau flyers in the codex, even the two Forgeworld units are not legal for standard 40k, only Apoc. :(

Plus, it would kinda make Hammerheads slightly redundant and they already have stiff competition from Broadsides...

      Delete
    4. Actually, both forgeworld flyers are now 40k legal. At least according to the newer imperial armour books. Unfortunately, they are absolute glass cannons. Devestating but so easy to kill. Heck, in larger games three squadrons of remoras is a death sentence for hordes and light vehicles

      Delete
    5. Actually, the Tiger Shark AX-1-0 and Manta are not 40k legal according to Aeronautica, that's why they have a little "Apocolypse" stamp on their profiles and not "Warhammer 40,000" like the Remora and 'Cuda. ;]

Remoras are a unit that I've always been interested in but 110 points seems like a lot for a single model with TL LB burst cannons. It's like you get twice the weapons of a Stealth Suit at twice the range for almost three times the cost? The networked markerlight is nice though...

  20. Is it sad that these rumors are making me excited, that I may be getting a BT codex in the near future?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I feel the same way only replace bt with orks. Tau and eldar are like the 4 and 3 to my Ork launch countdown. Maybe the 3 and the 2 either way I know it's getting close.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah, I've been super excited for Tau for a long time now. The release date is cutting it close to the birth of my first child..... and I'm ashamed to admit, I'm already like, "toys for da baby? or Toys for Dad?............. TOYS FOR DAD!!!!
