This was floating around over on 3++ and while some of it duplicates other rumors, there is some new stuff in here as well. The one thing that seems to be a constant, is that many people are claiming and maintaining that the codex release will be set for April.

Some more bits of information were floating around over on 3++. Please remember that these are rumors, some salt is always required.

via 3++ is the New Black (from inside the Chatbawks)
option to have all units with 6" fire overwatch - lots of dice rolling, little effect FTW
Fliers are AV10/11 with 6x S6/7 shots at BS3; not twin-linked
there is a tank commander
Tau vehicles can no longer fire as fast vehicles (i.e. multi-tracker upgrade gone/changed)
Riptide - name of ubersuit and is an Elite choice.

    1. The D-pod nerf was to be expected. The Multitracker is coming out of left field and is completely unexpected.

    2. Ummmm..... You kinda needed it a little. 3+ cover save and you can move quickly for cheap upgrade wise. They were gonna do something. Hell, your Dpod still gives a 4+ save in the open if ya move. That was what it was in 5th and they weren't a slouch than.

      Delete
    3. Don't freak out. The sky is not falling. The word "nerf" is rarely applied appropriately to this hobby, because it often completely ignores all of the new stuff an army gets.

It's not a "nerf." It just means you're going to have to come up with a new way to play them. That is almost ALWAYS for the best, as an army is stale when it stays the same for so long.

    4. Its not just the fact that it was 4+ before. Template weapons have also gotten substantially better at hitting damaging tanks. and with hull points. Shrouding was good for the price tau tanks currently are.

And i will lament multi-trackers how else will tau tanks be able to move they're so ass large for their armour value.

I'll wait until i see it.

    5. @Edwin: Yeah, it's a cheap upgrade, but it's/was on a tank that costs over twice as much as a Rhino; the only race with a more expensive 12 model APC are the Eldar and theirs are faster. A Hammerhead is 50% more expensive than a TL Lascannon Predator. Expensive with a cheap upgrade is still expensive ;(

    6. Nooo multi trackers were the best let me move and shoot my tanks with great eff

      Delete
    7. I don't think you can compare a hammerhead to a paper transport with a gun on it. I would compare it to a lascannon predator which is slightly cheaper however is not a skimmer not as well armoured doesn't have as good a gun and doesn't get a 4 up cover save

      Delete
    8. And has 3 different weapons that can penatrate other tanks, where as the hammer head has one. hammerhead has always been overcosted and underpowered due to Tau's lack of vehicle weapon options.

      Delete
    9. @Brian: I compared a Devilfish to a Rhino and a Hammerhead to a TL Lascannon Pred...if your comment was aimed at me?

      :S

    10. if Tau will get mass 3++ save ( invol ) this game will turn into very stupid thing ;/

      Delete
    11. On the other hand, its Jeremy Vetock so if he did not hate DA and Tau dex will be similar everything will be expensive and almost unplayable :D

      Delete
    12. If you're comparing devilfish to rhinos, they aren't 50% more expensive...they are more than 100% more expensive. A base Rhino is 35 points. a Base Devilfsh is 85. So yeah..everyone crying about D-pods being cheap...start paying 100 points for your transports after 1 or 2 minor upgrades and then come see me.

    13. I'm guessing these changes will come with point-drops. Makes sense: if you can field two whatevers where you used to be able to field one, you're probably going to buy another one.

  2. The fliers better be cheap. That's all I'm saying bro.

    1. I would rather see flyers be more expensive, but worth the points. Reduces the spam

      Delete
    2. I as well. However, with those stats and those weapons they better be cheap. :(

      Delete
    3. That's not all they come with. Besides, the Helldrake didn't have rumored stats nearly that good and costs 170 points. Now it's the most heavily played flier in the tournament scene.

      Delete
    4. And what is that is the stats McDoogle, you can't just say "That's not all they come with" as a counter argument to a rumor and provide your own opinion as proof. You discuss the rumor as 100% accurate so you have a baseline to talk about, talking about the accuracy is pointless since it is a RUMOR.

    5. I did point out that GW seem to be trending towards S6 weapons on flyers...can't wait for the Vendetta's turn...lol

      Delete
    6. I think it has more to do with the army as a whole... CSM have minimum Flakk options, but a very good flier... DA have Flakk all over the place, and normal fliers.

Tau get Air Raile Snipers, so we get normal Fliers.

      Delete
  3. Is it just me, or is GW adding a lot of things that often take up a fair amount of time yet really won't do a lot of things. Mass overwatch, Warpstorm table, and others. I kinda like it, but it may start to wear after many games.

    1. Welcome to sixth edition. The game is to make the rules so complex no one plays, but they still buy models.

      Delete
    2. Welcome to the vast minority. The game is more enjoyable, entertaining, and tactically interesting than it has been since 2nd edition.

      Delete
    3. They add a lot to the game that don't honestly change the game at all tactically. 90% of the game is still move units in cover and roll dice since a better option really doesn't exist.

      Delete
    4. lol McDoogle 4tw. Spot-on.

    5. @McDoogle that's it! I love this edition.

    6. I have been having more fun this edition than 5th. I just worry that things will start to wear on me after a few years, but I doubt it will happen. I really the new changes.

    7. Another +1 for McDoogle's comment.

Last SundayI had two games (against Deathwing. Glorious victories both), where I started a squad of Fire Warriors in terrain next to an objective.
In the first game it was iron bark (3+ cover save instead of 5+) and in the second game it was a carnivorous jungle.
It adds to the fun and the sense of imminent threat...

      Delete
    8. I always get brainleaf fronds... against my kroot... Terrain hates me.

    9. Got to agre with McDoogle, this is the best edition I have played iin years. 5th almost drove me away, 6th has brought me back.

      Delete
    10. Is this edition better than 5th? Hands down, yes.

Does that mean all the unnecessarily long parts of the game are good?

No, the total package is better. The fact that games take longer and there's more cludgy crap like random wounds is worse and hurts the game. I only get to play once or twice a month now because I can't fit 2 games into the time my store is open the one or two times a month I can make it out.

  4. I've seen over watching grots kill terminators , I'll definitely take some sacrificial kroot/vespid/guevasa if it means I get to shoot all my shiny bits at the poor bastard that takes the bait

    1. I'm still wondering if you need to fire all the units overwatching at the first charging unit, or if you'll be able to spread out the overwatching units to any unit charging. If you can spread out the overwatch fire it'll be worth it, if you can't people will still just charge their hard units first and laugh as the overwatching fire bounces off of them while their soft units get to charge unimpeded. Here's hoping you'll be able to spread out the overwatch fire from different units onto ANY unit charging, not just the first unit to charge.

  5. I hope it's not like chaos space marines, where everyone said one month and it didn't happen

  6. We are seeing these changes in isolation. Just because the hamerhead will not be able to move 6 and fire both it's railgun and it's secondary weapons will not kill tau, and we have no idea if there's changes or exceptions. Hell, the Hammer head could be a Heavy vehicle for all we know.
Not that it really needs to be able to move and fire. that railcannon is pretty much all that puppy needs these days.

    1. You are correct. We are currently looking at small changes in a vacuum without being able to see the entire codex. There's probably new war gear that we're not accounting for as well that could be better than the old stuff in completely different ways. We just don't have enough info yet. I'm liking what I've heard so far and what I don't like I'm willing to wait to hear more.

      Delete
    2. Multitrackers allowed our vehicles to move the full 12" and still fire their main weapon at BS. That is a big deal to be able to.mobilize are react quickly. If they make the Hammerhead Heavy Vehicle that would be such an unneccesary nerf to it as heavy skimmers can never get a jink save.

      Delete
    3. Thank you, Mr. Hill. Everyone looks at their current book, their current favorite army list, and their current models and assume any changes "kill" that and thus kill the entire faction.

      Delete
    4. Except the it is perfectly reasonable for the OP to think what he is thinking. The problem is multi-trackers are being removed to get rid of that rule. So the counter argument Hill provides is that they will still give it to us in some other form or fashion? Then why remove it in the first place if they didn't have plans on keeping it gone or making it harder to acquire.

And unless you have something else to compare the changes to other than the current codex, then please share this information that people are missing out on.

      Delete
    5. No what I'm saying is that they may be taking away that ability to give us something we haven't heard or thought of. My point is we just don't have enough info yet. While changing/removing the multi-tracker alone is a pretty important nerf I would like to hear what else we got in its place. I don't think they'd just remove stuff that was completely necessary to victory in the old codex without giving us something in return.

      Delete
    6. Well I agree with you on the first point fully. But GW has been known to make less than advisable decisions when it comes to removing things from armies (SoB) without giving anything in return.

      Delete
    7. I agree with marq we dont know what changes they will make , even like point changes to out units which is commonplace in new codexs orks became cheaper from 4th to 5th who knows what other changes we are in store for from 3rd to 6th wirh the tau

      Delete
    8. Multi-tracker effect may be changed but maybe with new tank commander character you can buy the same (old) effect that allow you to move 6" and shot with everything.

      Delete
  7. so now I have stealthsuits, crisis suits and ubersuits competing for elite spots? my poor stealth suits will almost never get played, especial with the potential rail gun nerf to broadsides(use more meltas on my crisis suits and whatever giant exploding bits the ubersuit has).

    ReplyDelete

    1. We don't know all the details of how the FO will work out.

      Delete
    2. Yeah, maybe Stealth Suits will get lucky and moved over to Fast Attack.

      Delete
    3. Crisis suits as troop choice with commander option maybe!?

      Delete
    4. FA Stealths would be great.

      Delete
    5. Perhaps they completely removed sniper drones... or include them with the new specialist weapons or dedicated drones that seems to be in the pathfinders box... perhaps this will make FOC lacking heavy support. I think the ubersuit will compete with broadsides and hammerheads.

  8. If I can't put a rail gun on the flyer, then I really have no interest in it.
