There have been rumors that many Eldar units are not available for ordering now. While this seems early to not be able to order box sets of Eldar, here is the latest developments on Eldar.

two things to note from the hall of Minatures.

1) big artwork display going up for high elves.
2) all Beil tan Eldar were missing, except for the wraith guard! Could this mean that if they being used for white dwarf or the new codex artwork we are without a doubt finally getting our plastic wraith guard.

The only change in 40k was I no longer have to stock any Eldar (not even DA or Guardians).

  1. Well your own sources said HE then Eldar...
We can only hope Eldar get a good codex instead of the rubbish Dark Eldar received (despite their amazing models).
You could tell the DE codex was written around the same time the current (OLD) Eldar codex was, with minor updates.

    1. Hm, I wouldn't say the DE codex was "rubbish", though I'll agree it hasn't stood the test of time in 6th Ed as many other codices have.

    2. The Dark Kin codex is still the best written one in the game! It's like it was made for 6th edition

    3. Everybody's definition of 'rubbish' is different on the net. I for one like the variety of unit choices and different army builds that are available in the Dark Eldar Codex. If by good you mean something that makes the Eldar auto-win as opposed to the current codex which relies on units working together and supporting each other, then i hope its a 'bad' codex tbh.

    4. .... WHAT? DE do one thing very well and that's shoot, shoot, shoot if you want an army that excels in close combat you came to the wrong army partner

    5. I strongly disagree. In the hands of a skilled player, dark eldar are definitely one of the best armies in 40k, even after the nerds they took in sixth edition.

    6. Dark eldar are vicious, two true born squads in venoms loaded with blasters? Bring it on MEQs , TEQs and monstrous creatures, I need more trophys

    7. Metal rancor, thats one of my favorite typos of all time. Theres your edition switch DE went from taking slaves to stealing sugary candy. I do completely agree with your sentiment de volume of fire(and most specifically wounds) make them an excellent choice over theor overly cost heavy and fragile cousins

    8. Dark Eldar are perfectly good. Last i played against them my Marines got multi-assaulted by Incubi which wiped most of them out, and a Dreadnought blew up because it was rammed by a Raider from long range, after having narrowly escaped some nasty wyches with Haywire grenades. DE are plenty capable and plenty versatile.

    9. What? Dark Eldars has one of the best codexes at all...

    10. No. A lot of the codex is now dead entries. Like some other armies, you do well with DE with very specific builds, and that's about it.

DE may have been a solid codex when they were written, but they're outclassed by a lot of stuff at the moment. They also have the second worst allies chart, so it's hard to compensate for where they fail.

  2. Elves tend to be temperamental armies to master anyways. That has been their thing all along. So Dark Eldar, I think, are just fine: terrible when mistakes are made, devastating with correct use.

  3. Seems Eldar MIGHT be closer than early fall then?

  4. It would be nice if Eldar dropped in the summer and SM dropped in the fall. Or vise versa. I want my marines already

  5. Last couple of codex releases have had fantasy army book releases as well: warriors of chaos not long after CSM, daemons for both 40k and fantasy...if Eldar rolls out around the time of the high elves, could be an elfy couple of months.

  6. Seriously hope this means eldar are close!!

  7. According to many the definition of nerdgasm would be a dual High Elf and Eldar release in one month.

As for the DE and many people's opinion of DE, I've found them to be fragile as heck but, with the right list, very capable of shooting most armies off the table.
