There has been some information running around about the next mystery box release. Previous years has been Dreadfleet and Space Hulk, could this year be Blood Bowl? A lot of hints point to it.

So then more out of curiosity I ask if GW was going to do another mystery box release like Space Hulk and Dreadfleet, and was surprised at how fast I got a response- YES, and how it is most likely going to be Blood Bowl.

October will be the "Mystery Box", Eldar likely to be November, the same slots as we had for the box game and codex CSM.

  1. Hmm... They already have a Blood Bowl set available.

I doubt that it will get the one time mystery box treatment as they have full line of minis still available for this game.

    1. They had a Space Hulk set previously as well. Blood Bowl is arguably more popular that space hulk so this is totally no surprise. Plus, we all know that GW passes no opportunity for profit, and with Mantic's Dreadball being so pretty successful, again, this is totally not a surprise, and I will be getting it. I drool at the thought of Blood Bowl with miniatures that match current GW quality!

  4. A fancy Blood Bowl set has been rumoured for years. Mantic seem to have been very successful with their Dreadball game, so I wonder if that's caused GW to take another look at it?

    1. I agree, and seeing all the toys Tau have gotten and knowing it is coming makes waiting all the harder.

    2. I hope for the love of the recent Xenos update fad that the Space Elves do get some TLC. Perhaps it will give me a reason to use some of them in a dual FoC.

  6. Releasing BB as a "limited edition" game does not sound very sensible, because it has never gone out of print. Would the LE have different rules than the current version? If so, which one would be supported?

However, the release does make very much sense if GW is finally starting to axe all the Specialist Games and BB will be the first to go with this one last hurrah. (Wouldn't hold my breath that BFG, Epic, and Warmaster would get even that; wouldn't really get my hopes up for LE Necromunda or Mordheim either.)
