Codex: Chaos Daemons
Codex: Chaos Daemons is your comprehensive guide to unleashing the immortal denizens of the Warp on the battlefields of the 41st Millennium. This volume illuminates the dread servants of the Dark Gods - the Chaos Daemons.

Warhammer: Daemons of Chaos
Warhammer: Daemons of Chaos is the indispensable guide to the fell denizens of the Realm of Chaos. This book details the ruinous history of the Daemons of Chaos, explains how their baleful influence has left the Warhammer world indelibly scarred, and provides full rules for fielding a Daemons of Chaos army in your games of Warhammer.

Warhammer 40,000 Altar of War: Chaos Daemons
Altar of War missions provide all the information required to play games inspired by the battlefield tactics of the different Warhammer 40,000 armies. This book contains six brand-new missions which you can use instead of the Eternal War missions in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook if you or your opponent has a Chaos Daemons army, allowing you to wage unholy, genocidal wars in the mortal realm and reap countless souls for the bloodthirsty Chaos Gods.

Latest Updates
How To Paint Citadel Miniatures: Daemons of Chaos
In this Army Workshop, army painters Chris Peach and Duncan Rhodes demonstrate how to paint Daemons of the four Gods of Chaos - Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle and Slaanesh - using the Citadel paint range.

In this updated edition, we present additional painting guides for the foetid Plague Drones of Nurgle and the mighty Skull Cannon of Khorne. As with the painting guides in the original version, the techniques used in these new painting guides can be replicated to paint many of the other miniatures in the Chaos Daemons or Daemons of Chaos range. This fantastic update is free to all who have previously purchased this product; if you are new to this product when you buy it, you will have both the original and the new content all in one amazing painting guide.

Warhammer 40,000: Psychic Powers
Warhammer 40,000: Psychic Powers brings the psychic devastation of the 41st Millennium to your iPhone or iPod touch. With this app, you'll be able to browse through all the psychic disciplines and powers from the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook, and keep track of psychic powers during your Warhammer 40,000 battles.

The new version of the app includes an in-app purchase to unlock the new psychic disciplines of Change, Excess and Plague, and all the Psykers from Codex: Chaos Daemons. We've also added the option to connect to your opponent's copy of the app via Bluetooth and track both player's Psykers, giving you instant access to the powers they have available. Please note that the full text of powers from the Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons updates will only be accessible if you have bought the relevant in-app purchases.

  1. Hi

I received a correction to the last part of this this afternoon via email (which I initially ignored as I don't use the digital products).
The relevant bit of the email read:

"We said that the new version of the app contained the ability to purchase the new psychic disciplines of Change, Excess and Plague, and all the Psykers from Codex: Chaos Daemons. We also said that there would be an option to connect to your opponent's copy of the app via Bluetooth and track both players' Psykers, giving you instant access to the powers they have available.

These options are not yet available.

We're really sorry if you wanted to download the app to take advantage of them. We'll let you know when the app has been updated and those options become available. However, Warhammer 40,000: Psychic Powers still contains plenty of fantastic features."

I received the newsletter email at around 19.15 CET.

    1. I always thought the psychic powers app would check if you bought the digital version of the codex and then allow you to use it's powers. That's how the CSM powers seemed to work. Is that correct? It's too bad if they are going to start charging for them :(

    2. No, it doesn't check if you have rulebook. It just charges for the extra powers (and originally asked in Spanish if you wanted to upgrade.)

    3. That is already have to pay for the app.

    4. Yes, but you'd also have to pay for the cards if you went the hard copy route, so I don't see a problem with (nor mind) paying for new content that's been developed & integrated into the app...

    5. But as usual when they first did the app they said, in a sufficiently ambiguous manner, that "the app was going to be updated.." What update did they refer to? I know lots of people that bought it because they thought that it would be usable with every army forever and ever... of course with the first codex to appear with new powers their hope dissapeared.

    6. Then they were being foolish. It's foolish to assume that a company that is in business to make a profit would charge nothing for NEW material that they developed... Apple comes out with upgrades to the MacOS on a regular basis, but they don't give the new stuff away for free, now do they?

Really, folks, GW isn't the evil corporation you'd like to make them out to be. Grow up and see how businesses work, and continue to stay in business. They're no different than Coca-Cola or McDonalds or Boeing, in that regard. When they develop something new, they expect to get paid for it. They don't force you to use it, the same rules for psychic powers are included in the codex you bought to run the army with the new rules for the army. The app is a luxury, not a necessity... It's a convenience, but it isn't required in order to play the army, and it's a different medium than the rule book...

    7. Coca-Cola, and McDonalds are terrible...
      They shouldn't exist...

    8. jdwelch62:
NEVER paid for an update for my ORIGINAL windows system: only when i CHANGED the OS because i wanted to buy another one, and of course my old OS still worked and every pathch that was applied was only to mame it better, no need to pay to keep it working. Same is aplied to my iphone, I buy the apps ONCE, not twice. Same with my playstation and my Macbook. If i want NEW content for my Call of Duty i pay more money, but my old CoD still works perfectly because every free update made it better. What will happen to our 40k app after three codexes? it will become totally USELESS. They didn't tell you when the app appeared that they were going to include EXTRA powers to every army: they ALWAYS said that the power system was definitive and that you could choose your OLD codex system or the new DEFINITIVE version from the BRB: no word saying the new codexes would change that.

    9. Wow. You are so missing the point. Since when we're the psychic powers in the BRB going to be the only, definitive psychic powers available to any and all armies? I never read that, and never assumed that. Always knew that with each new codex there would be army-specific powers, which is New Content, which you yourself said you'd pay for.

Such nerd rage over an app that isn't mandatory, makes your life simpler by having just the psychic powers you want on it (meaning, if, say, the Eldar psychic powers come out & you don't want them, you don't have to buy that add-on)...

Wow. Try some Xanax or camomile tea or something. Raising your blood pressure like that isn't good for you, dude...

It's new content, not a patch, which is what you're confusing this with. You want to go from Windows 7 to Windows 8, as an example, you pay for the upgrade; that is, the new content...

Don't see why that's so hard to grasp...

    10. First i have to say that in the BRB, in page 66 and forward, they described the new rules to use psychic powers. I asumed, that in a similar way to universal special rules, all new powers fell into any of the categories described, and of course it helped to this idea the mini rules that came with the card deck explaining which powers were available to which armies. If they had to do new powers with every codex, why in the instructions from my deck of psychic powers appeared all that armies as users of the powers? Of course I asumed that all of them would use the deck i owned!!! And of course when they sold the app, in their precious demo video we saw a wonderful page that read "SELECT CODEX". And of course, EVERY codex with powers appeared there. So if now i CHANGE THE CONTENT of this pretended powers that appear under the CODEX selection in the app, it is an UPDATE, no NEW CONTENT, because in fact, they told you that the content of chaos space marine was inside the app: if the content is CHANGED, it is an UPDATE, and it is for free. But worst than this, if I NOW buy the app because i want to use it with my chaos space marines, (because in the video is shown as one of the possible armies to choose)i will discover that to use the powers of my chaos army i have to pay MORE money , althought in the video is seen that the app INCLUDES the psychic powers from this codex. But if this is not enough for you to asume that the app SHOULD have every psychic power from its list of armies, you can perfectly read in their ad "Choose from every unit entry with access to the new psychic disciplines". And even another hint: if you read the app page, from apple, you can find that in fact the new version (1.1.2) is UPDATED for codex: Dark angels (2013)

So now, the new chaos codex is NOT an update????? dark angels is and chaos isn't?

You call it an add-on?? THEY called it an update when DA appeared. But now If I don't have that add-on I CAN'T use the app with my army, so in fact they sold you an empty box, that you have to be filling with the codex from your choice... of course after having paid 8 GBP.

It is not a matter of wanting windows 8 for free because i am owner of windows 7. In fact, the example is more similar to DLC in any game you play. If you want extra maps or weapons in your Call of Duty you can buy them or not, but what if suddenly they CHANGE one of the ORIGINAL maps you were able to play with, and because they have upgraded it, they make you pay an extra OR don't be able to play that map that you already HAD??? I insist, the option to use EVERY codex was in the app, it is not new content, it should be an upgrade.

  2. What about the digital version of the rulebook? Haven't they had long enough to make it?

    1. I'd love to see a digital version of the BRB! I own the big book & the mini book from Dark Vengeance, but would seriously consider buying the digital version, if they ever come out with it...

  3. cool new psychic powers. When do the Dark Angels ones come out... oh wait...

  4. Warhammer 40,000: Psychic Powers App...
Games Workshop: making you pay 7.99 pounds for a simple help that should be free (take pictures of the paper rulebook with the smartphone for free).

    1. It does a little more than a picture would, but yeah $7.99 is a bit steep for such a simple app. It keeps track of warp points, randomizes your psychic powers, has sound effects for powers. Its worst limitation is no codex powers.

    2. It does more than a picture, Neil... However, you could get by with a picture, but for that matter you can get by by just using the book...

  5. Why should it be free? If you just want simple pictures take them and use those. GW has to pay to develop and maintain these things. Shame on them for trying to make some of that money back.

The only caveat I have with the digital products is I think you should get a 50% discount on the digital codex if you bought the physical one.

  6. How about Android getting some love here...

    1. +1, definatly need the same on android devices

    2. Agree here, and I own an iPad & have the last 3 codexes in digital form, plus the app. But Android users should get the same love...

As a software engineer, however, I can understand why they haven't come out with Android versions yet, just from a development perspective. iOS & Android are different enough that it's not a straightforward port. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if Apple had GW by the short-&-curlys and GW was contractually restricted from developing Android versions of their digital products, at least for some period of time.... Apple can be douchy that way...
