These were sent to me and linked by several people that are getting excited for an upcoming Tau release. Now these pics were from Gamesday last fall, but I figured that since people are rediscovering them, they were worth posting up again. I think people are thinking that these might all be new models for an upcoming release, but I am very certain they are from Gamesday last year.

The site these are coming from is in Hungarian, so I cannot tell if they are proclaiming these as new or who actually took the pics. Anyhow, take a look at the other pics, but please remember that these are at least 6 months old.

  1. Those aren't looking too finecast-y! Maybe that's a sign! Also, that Kroot's pose is killer.

  2. This sometimes happens...

Old Games Day pics or rumours get floating again by people who tend to think they´re new...

But beware! In some Games Day we also could see Bran Redmaw´s miniature for Imperial Armour 11 and later they stopped its development and future sale because they didn´t like the result.

So... not every green or sculpt we see from GW or FW makes the final cut

    1. Exactly. These pics are approximately 4 years old and are not new models but were sculpts MH did when he was in training. Who knows if they'll get released.

I actually all this hubbub about tau is coz they are getting discontinued.

    2. Which is the same story as the Eldar Avatar and Genestealer Magus greens in one of the cabinets from September - lots of people keep bringing them up, but the sculptor himself apparently said on the day that they were his test pieces.

    3. Which was shame, because there was also an awesome blood axe ork warboss in that cabinet!

  3. Well I really like this incarnation of O'shova, but if the rumours are correct, suits will get a re-sculpt anyway, thus making this guy redundant.

Certainly some minis are really interesting... but arguably, after 9 long years, pretty much everything would look impressive for Tau!

  4. As it turns out these are actually from several years ago. I remember looking at these with wide eyed anticipation during 5th edition. Alas my 5th eition codex dreams were unfulfilled. However I'm keeping my fingers crossed for 6th edition!

    1. Yah If I remember right these have been around for a years now, I remember them popping up around this time in for the last two years when Tau were "right around the corner."

    2. yeah, around the time that Ghost21 (if I rember correctly) started ...um, 'fabricating' rumors.

    3. I bet these rumors are fabricated as well...

  5. These are FAR older than Fall 2012, in fact, these were from before 5th Edition (That Kroot model you see there can be seen in the 5th ed book, actually). Initial reports indicated that these models were actually sculpted as a sort of "trainee prototype" for new sculptors, and were not officially set to be released for Tau.

    1. Samuel Nolton is correct. These were reportedly sculpted by an aspiring GW sculptor, or similar. They weren't designed for production and are much, much older than last fall. Although the O'shovah photo looks a bit different than the one I remember seeing. Perhaps they liked the sculpt so much they've decided it warrants production after a little alteration?

  6. I wouldn't mind if that farsight model is pretty awesome. I wouldn't mind having that. But I think it will be different.

  7. Absolutely not happening. Games Workshop doesn't show unannounced stuff at Games Day anymore (except for forgeworld). The last time they did that was with Dark eldar which was when? 2011?

  8. Just called my local independent retailers. They confirmed the lack of availability of an array of models and the tau codex. Something is happening here.

    1. I will second this. I tried to order a Tau codex direct from GW and was told sorry all out. Thank God I have been saving for this update for 2 years, I'm going to need every last penny.

  9. It looks to me more like conversions than original scalpting. Maybe some premetive models.

  10. I just got a rumor said exclusively by the Dude in warseer ... the name of the ubersuit should be Riptide going along with the broadside nautical theme ... I just wished they could come along some day with a battlesuit named aka claymore ... would be awesome like a spear or a hot shot attack like the rail gun ... perhaps like the ion-cannon version of it ... something similiar to the XV9 phased ion guns from forgeworld

  11. Ehm...all these models are sculpted in 2008 and showed at the GD Baltimore 2008. I don't think they will be released.
