Games Workshop is giving out a voucher if you were one of the people that ordered Death From the Skies if you were on of the people that ordered it after it was sold out. Here is what was said on a local GW facebook page.

Hey just saw this on our local facebook page. (GW  cool springs village)

"'Death from the Skies' is currently sold out on the website. An e-mail I got said they will be receiving more on March 4th, but be prepared that it also might take a little while to be distributed.

If you did order it already, check your e-mail to see if you are one of the people who ordered it after it was sold out, in apology for the delay, Games Workshop would have sent you a $25 online voucher while we sort this out."

  1. I can vouch for this, mine was ready on Wednesday. Nice bit of customer service there.

    1. it was nice but the fact that I got a voucher at all is almost unbelivable given how soon I ordered mine. GW majorly dropped the ball in estimates for the demand for this. there's no way they should have sold out THAT fastGW needs to fire their market research staff if they're that incompatant

    1. I lol'd. I imagine they are deciding if they want to print up more books or refund the money of those who didn't receive their copy of the book.

Good point. I wonder if, due to the continued grief they are getting (now over DftS) that they are considering not printing more. Do they not realize that would only make it worse? Who can say with the decisions they've been making lately.

    3. @intvlan1shut. That is definitely NOT the case with GW considering about not printing more due to the grief. Everything GW causes its fanbase grief (in the fans minds). The grief is overrated you idiot- the Fing book sold out.

    4. @ Wizzy Noise

Very mature. I guess people are not allowed to express opinions or speculate on anything anymore without receiving such mature responses as yours.

    5. except Wizzy is correct in that this book sold out within an hour of going up.

I placed an order for this book within the first hour of it's sale going up and didn't get mine, even assuming this is just GW stiffing canadian customers so they can deliver to their "more important" regions. thats still very strong sales.

  3. I could understand this to some degree IF they were NOT going to print more/continue to sell it. I thought it was not limited but just that there may not be enough to go around initially and that they would have more in the near future.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for those who got something due to GWs crappy ordering system failure (IE it sold more than they had) etc...

But this Level of customer service which if there will be more DftS soon, is a little above and beyond what anyone would expect. Any other company would simply inform you that you've been refunded your payment for now and if you're lucky, notified when more of the product becomes available.

What gets me though is that they release a new codex (DA) with soooooo many monumentally and fundamentally WRONG things in it to the level that it NEVER should have gone to print the way it was. And the best GW can do is tell you to return it for a full refund.

So your design team, print team, testing team, layout, EDITOR, writer etc all contribute to some degree to the crap that is the Printer DA codex and you offer nothing to those folks who bought it other than to totally refund their money?

But if you're sales/inventory software fudge up and you sell a few too many of something (that should be available again soon) you decide to give everyone $25.00 for their troubles.

Anyone else think this is just a huge publicity-ass-kissing by GW after all the crap they've been given lately? (Spots the Space Marine(tm), the DA codex, Taking down their facebook page etc)

Again though, grats to those who are actually getting some good CS from GW.

    1. Sure there are very FEW cases, or they wouldn't do it.

    2. I would guess you are putting a lot of more people in the chain of document development than actually exist. I would guess there is an 'editor' and the writer and they handle the majority of the layout and other tasks.

I could be wrong but the quality of materials seems to support my assumption.

  4. Throne! If I had had the sense to be late... then again, has anyone in Europe gotten any such voucher, or is this just a US thing?

  5. Well, ordering early bit me in the ass. No voucher for me, just a tracking number that doesn't work.

    1. LMAO, sorry that does suck. I didn't even bother ordering it. *tableflip*

    2. try copying and pasting it directly into the fedex tracking site.

Also, I'm not sure which I want more, the book that should be on its way to me or 25 bucks off :/

  6. They probably didn't expect to sell anywhere near what they did. GW seems to take a really different view to the hobby(beer and pretzels) than their fan(serious business!). Where they put together a compilation of rules from various sources that they thought would be useful to a minority of players that didn't have another way to get em or didn't want to fool with all that paper, we saw it as the latest iteration and therefore only official set off rules that you NEED to play. So bunches bought it.

    Or maybe I'm drunk.

    1. The whole thing is a big FU to those fans who bought the Ork Bommer Rules on iTunes. They couldn't even be bothered to sell an iBooks version? GW really confuses me with their very odd business decisions. Hell, only selling a rules supplement via direct is bewildering enough. Not actually having enough printed to fill the initial order makes one head shake.

    2. Leon more or less says what I think honestly. GW doesn't really seem to understand their own market. which is terrifying when you think of it

    1. I wondered the same last time I ordered a Death Korps of Krieg transfer sheet in FW, they ran out of copies, and in exchange they allowed me to change it for an XV-89 without charge.

  9. Got my book today. Apparently I was the only one who was up early enough to preorder a copy last week. At least in my little belgian town.

The book is actually pretty nice. And no doubts about it, it's a compendium.

It will be usefull to find everything flyer oriented in one book.
I'm so happy with the softcover too.

Like I said earlier, too bad the book wasn't released more widely and in all the usual languages. Cause... It's a nice little book.
