We have been granted nothing really solid as far as the new Codex is concerned. However, the community is finding little hints here and there. Of course the biggest source we have seen is the latest White Dwarf, but other bits are starting to crop up.

This was pulled out from the comment section from my weekend editorial, concerning a possible dedicated transport. This could very well be chariot of sorts, but at this moment its hard to tell.

A big thanks to DangerBunny for bringing this up.

Not sure if this is the right place or not, or even if this is news. But I just checked the ipad pre order and daemons have a "dedicated transport" section. Been playing since second ed and cant remember daemons ever having a transport.

  1. This is probably due to them applying a basic template to their site, and that template includes a transport section.

    1. Most likely. Even Tyranids have the Mycetic Spore.

    2. Although it's not really a vehicle...

    3. Definitely not a template. Its not even the same Chapter/sub-chapter as the digital chaos space marines dex. Dedicated transport is 6.4 (between troops and elites) in the daemons dex; and 9.5 (between elites and fast attack) in the digital chaos space marines dex.

The way the digital dexes work, it would have a link that went somewhere. Specifically something with a statline in the Army List. Must be chariots, no?

  2. Nothing for sale on the website in that regard.

    1. Heavy Support, as far as we know.

    2. Well they're listed as HQ on the page, see for yourself. (Quite possibly the shooty versions are Heavy support)

And my bet is they're dedicated transports to the heralds of Khorne and Tzeentch.

The Slaanesh chariot does not have a herald. And Nurgle doesn't have a chariot at all.

    3. Would be cool if GD, princes and such counted as transport using the portable portals but can't see that happening.

    4. I thought the slaanesh chariot had an option for the herald to at least ride?

    5. Yes you are right, i didn't notice it at first.

    6. The Blood throne could be refered to a dedicated transport for a Khorne Herald, like the command barge is a dedicated transport for one Necron Lord.

...wish Deamons still used their Summoning rule from 3.5 Dex..., that whas fun...

  4. the slaanesh chariots can take a herald (via the current rules don't know if that will change). Now I could be insane but I thought I saw one of the Nurgle things having bulky (this might of been a fevered imagination, you never know with Nurgle). I would like to see the chariots have a transport capacity.

    1. Is it the Exalted Alluress?

I would say that the two chariots will be dedicated transports for the heralds.

Mostly because the Necrons got exactly the same kind of kit for their Overlord.

Oh and if i understood correctly, the Slaanesh chariot is not an actual Chariot currently?
Maybe it will be in the new book..

  5. Heavy support is already packed solid with good stuff. With Dameon princes moved to HQ we're going to struggle to deal with vehicles. Even if the chariot is the bees knees it's still sitting in a very difficult slot. Would elites or fast attack not be better? Perhaps move seekers to troops, or even Bloodcrushers as troops?

The slots are getting squashed, gentlemen! Oooh, I'd like that book today. My little tactical brain is wokring overtime and I don't have the information I need!

  6. Soemthing I noticed about the Plauge Drones, is that they have the "Very Bulky" special rule. The only reason to have this rule is if they can embark on transports. You can see the rule if you look closely at this image:

    2. I'm 90% sure that the Wraithlord also has this rule in the main rulebook too. Its just there in case you ever homebrew IMHO.

  7. Not related sorry but was just looking on the GW website for transports. Got side tracked and clicked the new Nurgle's Rot battalion box and is that new terrain in the back ground? The Daemon swamp looking thing?

We have HQ, Elites, Troops, Fast Attack and Heavy Support, on the first (40k) page. I didn't see what you mentioned.

    1. It's on one of the preview pages shown in the iBooks store for the codex. More than likely is just the chariots for the heralds.

    2. You can also see the warlord traits table for daemons in the preview pages too.

  10. The dedicated transports are for the heralds.
Do any of the chariots look like they can transport more figs? Why would you put jetpack figs in a transport?

On the WD update it says that once the Slaneesh chariot is destroyed the Aluress is destroyed, and maybe thats is what they mean. A dedicated transport is destroyed and the herald is dead.
    Does that make more sense?

    1. Yes, the Alluress is destroyed but a Herald is not.

  11. I just wanted to echo the comments of some other posters regarding the most recent codexs. GW does seem to be going down a more evenly powered route and i hope this continues. They seem to be bringing in more options and fluffy units. I do kinda like this approach even though I feel the miniatures have been a bit of a step backward. Noway near as multi-posable as they used to be. Still at least they give most of the units options (even though this does attack the wallet slightly)
