This is the last few hours of Valhalla for me this year, just as it was for David Lewis from Hawk Wargames. While I have more information from him about the new releases coming out later, he gave us one parting bit of information on exactly where Dropfleet is in development.

These are from David himself, but not a direct quote.

The game is being playtested weekly right now, and the rules under development, and the models are still in the early sculpting phase. He also acknowledges that there are many great space games already out there, but this will be different from existing games on the market right now.

The final bit is on the scale. It very much sounds like the ships will be close to the same pyshical size as the dropships in Dropzone Commander (about the size or scale of the old Gothic). Of course with Andy Chambers there for the joint project, the game has the potential to be a complete and massive success. Personally I am a huge Gothic fan from back in the day, and this is one of those releases that I look forward to more than anything else I can see on the horizon.

Even though the game is being playtested right now, the pace will increase and have more of David's undivided attention once the new Dropzone Commander expansion "Reconquest Phase I" is released sometime near the end of August.
