A New Servant of the Warp for the Horus Heresy

Taking a walk on the Dark Side, a new Servant of the Warp is about to join the Horus Heresy Character Series. Really the amount of detail with the cracked shoulder pads and Helm are just stunning.

This week something terrifying was spotted in the Forge World Studio. I’m told this warp-twisted monstrosity is part of a new set joining the Horus Heresy Character Series. More information coming soon...

    1. Nah, tis one of Zardu Layak's Blade Slave bodyguards. Basically Gal Vorbak Command Squad.

    2. Except that it's in the Character Series. So it'll be a named character, like Argal Tal.

    3. They were at the WW open day. Remember that there are only ever 2 blade-slaves, and they can only be bought as an upgrade for Zardu.

    4. Except it's not. It's one Zardu Layak's blade slaves. They come as a box of three. Layak and two blade slaves. There are literally dozens of photos from the big Warhammer World shindig.

Jesus, am I the only one who pays attention!?!

  3. Didnt they already release a 5 model Gal Vorbak kit? In guessing this is Argel Tal, makes the most sense. He was a pretty decent guy, he deserves a model.

    1. Argel has double power swords.

    2. Argal has a glaive and sword, both taken from custodes.

    3. As above, this is one of Zardu Layak's blade slave bodyguards, they come in a set of 3 models.

  4. It amazes me when I hear people saying how can FW compete against GW, when the standards of the plastic kits have improved? and that FW is over rated and their kits simply aren't good enough to warrant the prices.

I always am left thinking that those who are so dismissive have never held a FW in their entire lives.

Those of us who actualy own their stuff know that the level of detail and design work that has gine into them, is far beyond any of the plastic stuff available and way better than 95% of any other resin producing company out there.

YES! Not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but, to myself and many, many others who are willing to pay the price. These best there is !

And BTW, I know that GW and FW are parts of the greater whole, BUT they are two very different entities and run completely seperately with different outlooks. Just ask the guys themselves- GW and FW became a marriage of convenience and necessity, which has benefitted those of us who know a good thing when we see it!

    3. I can't say that I've seen anyone say that about FW vs GW models...

...but I absolutely agree regarding the quality. World-class.

    4. I agree and disagree, the quality of FW sculpts and artists is world class, the quality of their mold making and casting is actually pretty low. And no I'm not talking about re-casts.

    5. +1 Jesse.

Stunning sculpts, miles ahead of the competition. Resin and casting? Eeeehhhhh...

    1. How about they finish up the Primarchs THEN move on to the characters? Still waiting for FW to release the Lion.

    2. They'll do The Lion when they move onto the Dark Angels vs Night Lords book.

FW run through the Heresy in sequence, most armies in the early stages (within reason) have been sorted out. If you can get your hands on the 30k rulebooks these are for you'll see that they're basically campaign books a level above what core GW release.

Off the top of my head it's:

HH I: Betrayal - Isstvan III's scouring of the Loyalists from the fledgling Traitor ranks (Sons Of Horus, Emperor's Children, World Eaters & Death Guard)

HH II: Massacre - Isstvan V's dropsite massacre initial stages (Iron Hands, Salamanders, Night Lords & Word Bearers added)

HH III: Extermination - Isstvan V's dropsite massacre final stages & hunting surviving Loyalists post-massacre (Alpha Legion, Raven Guard, Iron Warriors, Mechanicum & Imperial Fists added (as they got becalmed and ambushed on the way to Isstvan but didn't actually take part directly)

HH IV: Conquest - systems core-ward from Isstvan get hit immediately after the dropsite massacre (adds in the Solar Auxilia (army elite), Knights & more Mechanicum forces)

HH V: Tempest - finally moving away from the Isstvan arc, Calth gets pwnt by dirty Word Bearers (adds in Ultramarines, more twisted Word Bearers now they're more corrupt, militia & cults plus more Mechanicum & Warlord Titans)

There's the odd Mechanicum unit (like Warhound & Reaver Titans) and Legion characters relevant to the story unfolding across the first four books along with a shitload of rules for all kinds of games.

It's going to be a year at least until FW get to the Dark Angels vs Night Lords having their distant war (the Thramas Crusade) out in the Eastern Fringe as that's quite a detached story arc. The next book at Xmas apparently is more Ultras, WBs and maybe Eaters as the Ultramar system gets more mashed and the razing of Prospero apparently is the next part in just under a year's time. So no Dark Angels or Lion for us, yet! Boo.

    3. Lol Damn. Thanks Mauler, I should thank FW for not releasing him anytime soon. I'm still building up my daemonkin, and now getting the DA items. BUT! My emperor scorpion just had 18 scorplings, and since the importation of them has ceased, I'll be selling them for a pretty good price lol lil guys will help cushion the wallet.

    4. Never a problem...I'm amazed I typed that much at 1am :'(

Scorplings, excellent :D I might just try to start putting £20 aside a month for the FW DA release when it eventually hits...

  6. Dudes... It's NOT Argel Tal. It's basically part of a Gal Vorbak command squad. There are many photos proving this. Here is one.

    1. Guaranteed to get at least 4 more people who wont acknowledge this and jump excitedly claiming it's Argel Tal.

    2. That said...Argel is probably my 3rd favourite character behind Garro and Loken. So i hope he does get his own model. What happened to him "under the shadows of wings" left me feeling as bitter ad the end of Game of Thrones last night. I hate you Erebus

    3. Same here username.
Rumor has it that John snow's kit Harrington is taking a break and comming back under a new name season seven.
That's all I have heard so no one get all angry at me saying "not how it happens in the book"

  7. I really like FW gal vorbak, they are like a billion times better than the chaos possessed GW models, I'd like to use them as proxies but the cost is eye watering, not to mention that they are mono-pose & covered in world bearers icons!

    1. The WB iconography is not realy that strong. Two have a book on their shoulderpads and two have the serrated sun icons. Little details compared to the overall strong mutations of armor and flesh.
