Pics of the Week: Iron Warriors

This summer my intentions are to be much more focused on the pic collections. Last week we started it off with Ravenguard. This week we are showing off the Iron Warriors, and we are going to expand upon the pics of the week, by starting off with a description of exactly who these Iron Warriors are.

Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.

The Iron Warriors were Legion IV of the twenty original Space Marine Legions. They were one of the nine legions which betrayed the Emperor during the Horus Heresy, becoming Chaos Space Marines. Their specialty is siege warfare and the reduction of fortified positions, which made them natural rivals of the Imperial Fists even before the Heresy. The Iron Warriors are also fierce close-range fighters, witnesses comparing their ferocity to the berserkers of the World Eaters traitor legion or the loyalist Blood Angels. They make common use of slave-soldiers as cannon fodder to wither the ammunition supplies of the besieged and to locate the positions of enemy gun emplacements.

  1. Thank you very much for posting these. I've been a fan of the Iron Warriors, and Raven Guard, for a long long time. You've made me a very happy person today, thanks again. (-:

  2. So my plan of doing an Iron Warrior Army from the Blood Angel Codex wasn't that stupid. Shame I'm now making that army into my 9th Company.

  5. I would love to get my Iron Warriors out again, haven't played them since the release of the current codex. Siegesmith Fefnir's warband against some Death Korps should be quite interesting, actually.
Let's just hope the latest batch of Choas rumors is false, the loss legion-specific rules is distressing.
    Great art, anyway.
