  1. Wow, I was just about to E-mail you this picture that came up in my new feed :)

Looks like I will need to pick up my WD Tomorrow.

  2. YES, I can finally do my Tesla Destructor spam list.

  3. Stormtalon looks better then I was expecting, might grab one of those. Necrons are a must have.

  4. I will drop one of the assault cannons, but otherwise the stormtalon is a very pretty model. I feel reminded of the VTOLs from Neon Genesis Evangelion. I will get two to go along with my stormeagle.
Scythes are fair, too, though I don' like the open cockpit very much. AI-control pilot replacements however should be quick to be put together, I think.
The ork is wearing a pilot's scarf. I cannot stress this enough.

  5. looking at the Necron flyers all I can think is have GW stolen a Cylon Raider and filed off the serial number. That or a Ghu'ould Death Glider...

    2. Scythe, or crescent moon, space vehicles isn't exactly Glen Larson's brain child either. It's about as established in Sci-Fi lore as the disc shaped design.

That being said, everything else about the Necron's screams GW=BSG fan boy. Which, who can blaim them?

  6. The SM gunship looks like an Apache helicopter stuck in a trash compactor and I think that is because of ranges and rules. I'd rather have a larger area to play on than bizarrely squashed down models.

    1. I like the model and I dont. It looks kinda cartoony... Bulbous and boxy at the same time. The guns seem a bit too big for the vehicle as well. That thing seems to be about the size of a rhino, but smaller.

    2. haha Im thinking

its kind of a bumble bee :P to fat to fly :P

(although bumble bees have been proved now to fly, it was a calculation error in the mechanics of the wing movement)

  7. I am so liking these models! Especially the doom scythes!!!

The only question now is where is the Voidraven Bomber?!

  8. That Stormtalon will look awesome!

Crashed, on the base of a burna bommer.

  9. I love it!!

Will buy one Stormtalon for my Ultramarines, and also hope my Wolves can use it too... to buy the second one

    1. wolves should never fly, we have a cavalry instead

      Delete
    2. What? In a game where EVERYONE is getting flyers, Wolves shouldn't because we have cavalry?

That makes no sense. Space Marines shouldn't have flyers because they have artillery! Or Land Speeder Storms! Or any of the other things they have that other Chapter don't.

      Delete
    3. Space wolves don't like being up in the air. It is in their fluff and their codex rules. Their terminators cannot deep strike. It is a miracle that they even get drop pods and jump packs.

  10. I still don't much like the storm talon, da ork fightas on da uvver hand... I was kinda 'meh' on da flyerz overall, but dat WILL be a purchase!!!

  11. Nooooooo! Why have GW started making awful awful SM kits, Storm Talon and Storm Raven both look like they need to be stretched on a rack!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Thanks for the pictures! Have to agree on the Storm Talon, it's gonna need some converting love before I can field it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. After seeing these models can't wait to see what the tau flyer will be like.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I was hoping I wouldn't love the Ork Planes....

Storm Talon is the second Space Marine Flyer fail in a row, imo. Hopefully we'll get some aftermarket conversion kits to fix it soon ;)

  15. Over all I would say that the designers deserve an A+. There are a few minor things that can easily be changed to a gamer's preference. Now I may just have to pick up a WD magazine to read these rules. No doubt I will have to shoot down many a Storm talon in the coming months. I am really looking forward to these rules though. They will give us a small peak of some of the stuff that is to come in 6ht.

  16. Speaking about flyers, how ;bout that TURTLE SOUP?

  17. Anyone else notice that it's an 'Ork Bummer' not a 'Bommer'? Lolz.

    1. All instances say 'Bommer' not 'Bummer'... Don't know what you're talking about

  18. The storm talon looks like a Halo vehicle

    ReplyDelete
  19. Don't know what to think about the storm talon... its ok, but I think I'd have to modify it. Needs a nose. I'll be expecting someone to cover one in chevrons to make it look like a bee.

  20. Necron flyers - they look pretty cool and close to the concept art.
Ork flyers - they look awesome! If only I played Orks...
Stormtalon - what happened here? It's like a more compressed Stormraven, and that looked pretty weird... The guns are just too big for it, especially the assault cannon. I like the concept of the rotating engines, but I think those would look better on a Stormraven.
BTW, anyone else notice the Ultramarines painting guide on page 24? Does anyone not know how to paint an Ultramarine by now?

  21. Am I the only one here that feels 'shunned' as a 40k player? It's almost July with no codexes, some models that should've been out 2 years ago, and now some fancy planes. Give us the real goods before you make up some stuff for a White Dwarf.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Stormtalon reminds me of "Blue Thunder", I always liked "Air Wolf" better... I really don't like the landing gear in front being mounted on the chin turret, seems too delicate to work.

The Ork planes are pretty good, I think I may get one to paint up even though I don't play Orks.

Same with the Necron flyer, good stuff there!

    1. Surely the constant hard landings on that turret must "help" the accuracy.

      Delete
    2. agree on the landing gear... I see its supposed to be like a helicopter landing struts since the majority of the weight is up front and the tail section just sticks out (yes I know military helis are quite different, but their tails a lower). Also looks as that weapon is able to rotate, and cannot have longer struts on the sides because of that... sigh Lets hear some of those conversion ideas for this!

      Delete
    3. I hate the landing gear. No one in their right mind would mount a landing gear on a weapon platform unless there is a rule that weapon destroye result will wreak the flyer. It makes no sense on many levels, rules or otherwise.

  23. The models look good , but I would like to know 2 things:

    1. The marien flyer is available only for the Codex: Space MArines?

    2. Do we know anything about their rules? The ork flyer could perhaps resurrect the ork army.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Only Codex: SM
Fast Attack Slot. Can only accompany a unit from reserves MOVING onto the board. Cant do it with deepstriking units. Only one can escort, and they cant escort each other.

The Ork Fliers add nothing new to the Army. The Guns are crap, the Bombs are random. One is a divebomber with a random roll on 2d6 to see if he can pull up in time or crash.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. LOL. Typical GW, making the Xenos random crap and expecting people to pay $45-50 just because the model looks decent. Yeah, painters might... gamers will give you the finger, GW. But don't let that stop you...

      Delete
    2. I would figure it's more an Ork trait as they bash and bang pieces from this and that to make a working-ish vehicle, hence the randomness.

Besides for 6th, there is enough randomness for EVERYONE to go around

  25. I just thought of one thing: Say you immobilize the Storm Talon. From the pictures it appears to only rest on the front turret. Does this make the turret mounted weapons fixed? And therfore the side mounted weapons (and vehicle) can now rotate 360?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I actually like the Storm Talon, needs longer wings but other then that its good. If it can get Hunter Killer's I'm so gluing them to the ends of the wings...

    ReplyDelete
  27. The Storm Talon makes me think of a flying brick. Which is sort of perfect. I mean look at the design of the Dreadnaught. It's as blocky and squat as all get out too. You want elegance? Go for Eldar. This thing looks like it could crash through a mountain and come out the other side fine. I'm so getting one.

  28. 1) put on Heavy Bolter side-bits, except for the heavy bolters

    2) Put Assault Cannons where Heavy Bolters would go

    3) Put Lascannons/Missiles onto/under/at the tops of the wings or the steering ones.

What I am planning on doing with two of those babies is something like this:
