Here is something completely new for Space Marines, but do not expect a codex any time soon. In this is a new Techmarine model, new Tactical Squad, flyers and more.....
Please remember that these are rumors....
via Stickmonkey on Warseer
These are all wip and no release timing is available. Codex SM is not underway, so these may be a splash release or could be a long way off.
New tactical squad. Hvy flamer. Mk 8 style
Edit: there are more mk 8 bits here than before, but there are still "beakies" too. Includes many options not released before in plastic, including a Hvy flamer, a backpack style (read devastator) missile launcher w flakk missile, slings on bolters, power weapon options. Basically think of all the blinged out options you get w a BA, SW, GK box and now apply it to tactical marines. Poses are all standing, but they aren't as static.
New assault squad. New jump packs. New weapon options
Edit: retooling similar to tac squad. The jump packs are all new, but don't get knickers in a twist cause they are the same style as current ones. They just look better cause the seam is not there. New cc options in the sprue include thss and lc. There is a few new options in here I can't reveal.
New librarian mini sprue. Codex options included
Edit: this is where the librarian/chaplain kit I saw a long time ago went. Has a force sword or staff, has combi weapons, has pistols. Two heads. All in mini sprue. It's 2 mini sprues. Only options from current codex not present are jump pack, bike, or TA. No info on where chaplain went.
New Techmarine mini sprue. Conversion Beamer.
Edit: very similar to current tech ax Techmarine. Layered body. Has tech ax, tech sword, plasma pistol, combi weapons, couple variants on servo arms, and conversion Beamer. 2 mini sprues.
Edit: on both these mini sprue characters the heads and weapons are compatible with existing line. But the arms/bodies are unique.
New scout box. New sculpts. Combined boxes. New options.
Edit: includes some new scout only weapons. Heads are less bulky. All codex options present in one box.
New flyer. Interceptor/bomber. Flat but boxy. Storm raven sized. No transport. No hover. Heavy assault cannon and ff missiles. Or bombs and servo drones in gun pods.
Edit: shares wing/engine aesthetics of storm raven, but fuselage is flatter. Wings not as bent. No thrusters in wingtips. Two tail options, one for each build.
New scout transport. Like Tauros (FW ig) but open wagon style. Halo warthog mashed w rhino. Pintle TL HB.
Edit: rumored rule only will allow pintle weapon when unit is embarked. Fast vehicle. 4 buggy style wheels. Rider models/bits compatible with new scout box. Roughly rhino sized. For Baja race fans think armored sandrail.
Cheers. Like I mentioned, these are likely a long way off, and I will fill in more later.
Additionally......
So far as I know these will be the only new ones, but it's a dual kit. Add it to the storm talon and you have 3. I have it on good authority the storm raven will not become a codex release. And there is an awareness SM lack a transport flyer currently.

Whine whine whine space marine releases whine whine whine.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that the SM sprues are getting upgraded. Some of them are old, especially those assault marines: the ones I've gotten always have flash and the backpack seam is ugly - good to see that go.
if only they had upgraded the basic CSM sprue :-(
DeleteThey are upgrading the CSM sprue, and it will likely drop before the SM one...
DeleteI've heard nothing about a CSM sprue update.
DeleteWhen was the last mass whining of Spacemaroonhammer, 2008/2010?
DeleteWow. That's a lot of swag lined up with no codex in sight...
ReplyDeleteNow these are great news! Really longing for some new "standard" Marines for my army.
ReplyDeleteNow if only my Sisters of Battle would finally get a new release, too...
SoB really need it. Compare an SoB battle sisters unit to a basic CSM unit. 125pts vs 140pts for 10, but the CSM get +1WS, +1S, +1T, and +1I while just losing a 6+ inv and a fairly crappy faith power. It's not even worth looking at Celestians for the comparison....
DeleteSisters never plan on fighting in cc, so the +1WS, S, T, and I are irrelevant. Put any upgrades on the Aspiring champ and that squad gets closer to 200. The Sisters getting a 6+ invuln on a BS4 model is huge, and Sisters can put out WAAAAAY more firepower than CSM.
DeleteAdd to that the fact that St. Celestine is hilariously undercosted, combined with the latest tournament results, and it's easy to see that Sisters are fine for now (rules-wise).
They will get more models when people show an interest. You don't release an army without interest; or you give it a complete overhaul, a la Dark Eldar. The latter is more likely, but takes a lot of time.
There's interest out there, I for instance would love to do a Sisters army, the problem is it's hard to act on it when it's $17 for three models in squads that can number 10-20, so even a 10 member sister squad is setting you back $68 with two loose models...
DeleteAnd that's just bolter carrying models, not getting into the $10+ individual special weapon and sister superior models. It's worse than trying to make a Death Korps of Krieg army, at the moment.
We can dream, sisters players, we can dream. And while we are, i'd like a Repressor model. Even the current stats make it much better than a Rhino as a transport choice.
Deletewhat sisters need is a new 'dex that's not white dwarf, and actual packs of units. I'd be tempted to play SOB except for me it's not terriably feesable.
DeleteI have a hard time believing that we won't see a new SM codex by Q4 2013. GW has not once gone more than 18 months from the release of a new edition to the release of a new SM codex, and we all know it's their main cash cow.
ReplyDeleteThe current one was considered more and more outdated with each successive power armour codex, so I can't imagine that they're going to let it stagnate further, especially when they're more than willing to charge $50 for a codex.
I think it's safe to say that there are plenty of marine codices out at the moment, and they probably aren't worrying about a drop in sales just yet. Especially with Yet Another Marine Codex coming out, supposedly, soon.
DeleteBetween that and the HH books from FW, they might even decide to give Xenos some love...
Only thing I would say is that traditionally, the SM codex was the one most people played, with fewer playing the offshoots (BA, GK, SW, DA and BT), while now I think the opposite is true (at least for the first 3), so that might not be so important for the time being.
DeleteBut I would also be surprised if we didn't see a SM codex by the end of next year, but I do think we have DA, Eldar and Tau to come first!
If Dark angels and black templars are not played as much its because they are the most outdated space marine codexes out there
DeleteI find it surprising that GW completely panders to the "highest selling" codices, without realizing that said books are the highest selling either because A) The rules are ridiculous and/or B) The other similar armies are hilariously outdated.
Delete^ This. Then they'll wait 10-12 years just to revamp the line, blow everyone away with all the new shiny things. Should be worth it- look at the previous DE warriors with more spikes than CSM and super saiyan hair on the heads. That and the SW box kit is not really blinged out (weapon-wise, that is).
DeleteThis may sound silly (which I'm known for) but I really want to use the new CSM dex, but since I don't own any CSM models, and I want to play with the new shiny, I might use my marines as a counts as army (in only friendly games of course).
DeletePeople still listen to stickmonkey... he throws out vague far off types of rumors that anyone could just "guess".
ReplyDeleteRumor! new marine sculpts to have bolters!
They all do.
DeleteStickmonkey & hastings are the only half Way or Less reliable ones :(
WE shouldnt belive anything unless several People Confirm it.
Interesting note: In the Sisters of Battle book Hammer & Anvil the SoB use a vehicle called a Venator.
ReplyDeletePretty much every single new Necron unit was mentioned in the book with exact details. The SoB had 2 things they currently do not, the Venator and Gun-Servitors.
The Venator is not the same as the FW one, in the book it was described as a 5 person transport with a heavy bolter on top. It was also pretty much open topped.
Perhaps SoB will get their own version of the above mentioned kit, or perhaps the above kit is actually a SoB kit and not a SM kit.
gun servators are a background thing, tech marines have them but they're a common tool of the mechanium, I'd not expect to see the SoBs get them unless the SOBs got some sort of "techmarine equivilant" which IMHO would be a bit of a deviation from their fluff.
Deletea new transport though would be neat. sounds like a bit of a "open topped rhino"
in hammer and bolter the gun servitors were part of the mechanicum force attached to the sisters.
DeleteThey must have someone fixing their rhinos, armor and weapons.
DeleteNow whether or not that will ever make it into a codex???
The model release list from a while back had several new listed models/units for SoB. All that means though is that they have worked on them and will be released at some point.
Sisters have gun servitors, check the henchmen, you can give the servitors guns. Besides in BL books, gun servitors refers to any gun with a "targeting computer", as 40k uses "human" parts for thinking machines.
DeleteA Venator is a IG dune buggy with a heavy weapon mount. FW makes them.
Basically a gun servitor is an automated gun, and FW already makes the Venator. So... i don't think you found anything in those.
Yes, I know FW makes one but the one in the book was more of a light transport than a light assault vehicle.
DeleteThere were 5 SoB inside the vehicle if I'm not mistaken, and it was described as enclosed with a back door and a heavy bolter on top.
The picture I got in my head when reading was something similar to the Japanese LAV.
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/1121/komatsulav.jpg
Also they are getting updated Tyranid hunter called "Dino Hunters" to battle the Chaos Dinobots.
ReplyDeleteThose Chaos Dinobots killed off a lot of Eldar, they are very dangerous ;-)
DeleteLet me tell you the hound rocks. It chased down my mates unit of crisis suits with a crisis hq last night. He then proceeded to munch on them for the next 3 turns. Good Fido.....
DeleteThe rest.. is silence
DeleteSorry to go off topic, but any ideas what has happened to the digital codex for Necrons? Can't see in in the iBooks store, nor link to it from the sample of the codex that I had downloaded.
ReplyDeleteswipe the screen
DeleteThanks for the tip. Tried swiping - up, down, left, right, but no sign of the Necron Codex. Here's hoping for "We'll be back"!
DeleteI guess it Phased out for now. :P
DeleteHehe it can only mean we are getting a new 1! Aha!
Maybe they are coming back as Dark Angels this time!
DeleteHeh. I can just imagine the new DA fluff
DeleteDark angel one (to DA two): "Can you keep a secret?"
Dark angel two: "Yeah, sure."
Dark angel one: "Don't tell the captain, but I'm secretly Alpha Legion."
Sounds very intresting and great, but also like wishful thinking :) :(
ReplyDeleteThe techmarine in the picture doesn't frighten me. All I need is a cultist to push him on his back. He's never getting up with all that crap on his back....;)
ReplyDeleteThat would probably be lot more of a problem if he didn't have those nice, useful servo-arms on his back to help him up.
Deletealso, the cultist has to push over all than stuff. if the techmarine couldn't get up, then the cultist shure as hell couldn't push him over. and the servo arms would probably tear the cultist up first. or maybe just the techies axe. haters are welcome...

ReplyDeleteI guess GW's seen enough landspeeders converted to have wheels to finally give da beekiez a jeep.
ReplyDeleteSpace marines lack a transport flyer!
ReplyDeleteDid they think chaos marines weren't worthy!
yes. And chaos marines dont need to have everything that Space marines do, or should be just go back to chaos being SMs with spiky bits?
DeleteI don't mind space marines haveing stuff chaos doesn't. but if they do they should try to fluff it as "newer then the great crusade"
DeleteDon't start that again.. :-)
DeleteI mean cummon.. Just having THSS, a LR with transport of 12, drop-pods and a flying transport does not make CSM 'Loyalists with spikes..'
I/like/ the variance in the two lists.. but there is a few glaring holes that should have been filled
"New flyer. Interceptor/bomber. Flat but boxy. Storm raven sized. No transport. No hover. Heavy assault cannon and ff missiles. Or bombs and servo drones in gun pods.
ReplyDeleteEdit: shares wing/engine aesthetics of storm raven, but fuselage is flatter. Wings not as bent. No thrusters in wingtips. Two tail options, one for each build."
Hmm sounds even closer to the Clone Gunship from episode 2. Especially with the wing tip weapon pods, tail weapon and sleeker looking design.
seems a bit odd to me, doesn't the stormtalon fill this role already?wouldn't standard marines benifit more from a transport flier? perhaps a "flying rhino"?
Deletestorm talon acts as an escort/ attack helicopter. interceptor is air to air specific and bomber is air to ground high explosives. you could say the talon is a light escort craft and any others fliers will be armour 12 at the front at least. allows them to take a bit more punishment. maybe have 3 hull points.
DeleteI'm thinking it sounds like the ravenwing fighter interceptor
ReplyDeleteOh God please let those scout buggies be available to non-vanilla marines as well!
ReplyDeletePlastic Techmarine.... !()*%^!#()^&!*#&^+! They can just take my money now....
ReplyDeleteSo? Orks don't have a flying transport either. You don't see me whining!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I do. But only because I want to kitbash a Battlewagon and a Stormraven together. Let's hope the rumors of the Ork flying fortress are true!
Dont you think a 36" moveing Transport for Orks is a Bit OP?
Deletedepends how the rules figure it. if it has to be hovering to disembark that could be an... exploitable weakness
DeleteIf its Open Top its still OP
DeleteIf Not its Not Worth takeing
the problem with it having to hover is anyone who can think will rush your enemy before they disembark. it's too easy a tactic to pull off. it's one of the reasons the storm eagle (FW SM) is so OP. that and the fact it does so with 10 termies...that then assault...
Deleteany guesses as to if the new SM troops will have raised unit markings (like the DV set)?
ReplyDeletehighly doubtful. for the boxed stuff it's actually not good to do that
DeleteSo if none of this comes true.....
ReplyDeleteI am fairly certain that these new units will be vanilla only. The precedent is in the Storm Talon/Raven. If Storm Talon's were not WD'd in to other codices, these won't either
ReplyDeleteIf memory serves this kinda jives with that "found" list of GW, from a couple months back for july 2013 release. I dont feel like looking it up right now. But if these two sources match I could mean new SM dex by this time next year.
ReplyDeleteI really hope most of these things are for BLACK TEMPLARS and not vanilla marines, because they sound awesome
ReplyDeleteand because I think its sad that rumors for vanilla marines start popping up before any info on black templars...
Deleteyeah the space wolves and black templars both need some sort of flier update
DeleteWolves dont need a flier, its out of charachter.
DeleteSome nice Anti-aircraft weapon options and psy abbilities would be cool.
Maybe a new saga for anti-flying...they use one of those huge Fenrisian harpoons to take it down?
Wolves shouldnt have saga's at all, or they should be amended to actually include the downside in the rules vs just letting little kelly tag it with but you dont have to use it.
DeleteI don't see a flier as being that out of character for space wolves. they maintain a fleet, and thus would presumably maintain some sort of aerospace assists to go along with it. it'd likely be some older crusade era fighter that the space wolves are loath to give up for the "newer fighters being used by the IN"
DeleteI don't give BT very good odds on having their own codex any more.
DeleteSW don't like flying.. the just like BA Baracus
DeleteThat's why there such a shortcoming in that regard..
Is it possible that these could be for DA? On that note, any new news for DA?
ReplyDeleteFinnaly some marines! I was afraid they want to release Micetic Spore or other xenos that have their models back from 1992...
ReplyDeleteSquats!
Delete;-)
Your right its not like dante or mephy have models from the early 90's... and no one ever plays mephy...
DeleteSpecial characters are usually old models. Xenos and Marines alike. So...
DeleteIt is my opinion that some of this will happen when the Dark Angels get their codex. We won't have to wait until codex Space Marines for all of it.
ReplyDeleteBellumvinco
yeah good call, tac marine updates etc coming with the DA 'dex makes some sense as IIRC DA's use the units
DeleteI understand they want to keep the storm raven only a Blood Angel/Grey Knight thing, but if SM's are lacking a transport flyer, why not just make storm ravens standard SM kit? It would be easier, they'd sell more of the damn things, and they could put their resources toward other things that need it, (like a real sisters dex)
ReplyDeleteAgreed, it'd be an elegent solution.
DeleteI guess if I really wanted the Storm Raven, I could take BA's as allies. I'd probably paint the thing yellow (cuz I play Imperial Fists) and just let my opponent know what the deal was.

ReplyDeleteAny rough eta for the Marine tac squad? I want to start a marine army, but the current models put me off.
