Here is an updated list of what is coming out, including some paints, the megaforces, and more. Yes cultists and  the Wall of Martyrs is included in this set. I am hoping that these are fortifications that can be used in your army lists, so rules is the only thing we are short on now.

  2. Chaos Cultists, 5 for 7.50? Not to terrible considering that everyone was fearful of them going for 15+ for just a single box.

    1. Seriously any price they put on these is nuts. Do people not realise you can actually make money and get a lot more cultists if you just bought DV and Ebay'd everything else?! If they were different models from DV or at least posable then maybe. As they are, GW must not think very much of their fans intelligence.

      Delete
    2. Oh they realize their fans intelligence. They're probably just trying to push the sales of their DV sets. Think about it. You put this small cultist box set out...then people will likely think:"well if that's what we're getting in a cultist box then I'll just but the DV set."

      After sales for the initial production run of DV sets increase a bit, then you release the actual cultists box set with varied weapon options.

      Delete
    3. The cultists are simply the latest in a series of quick assmble minis you can already get. you can already buy a 5 pack of guards.

      Delete
    4. The big thing is that it goes well with buying DV cultists off the interwebs. Every 10 models you buy has 1 model that you can't use (2nd lot onward, if for one unit), and one you may not want. Best way to plug the gap? Little cultist box, of course!

    5. cultist are 5 for £6 i can confirm this and yes the wall of martyrs is available for fortification selection there will be a gift guid with the issue that also shows a few other things including the hobbit game,

      from the info i have been given there will also something else within this months white dwarf what it could be i cant be sure

    6. Buying DV Cultists from bitz are good but 1 out of 10 models are usless, so you need 6 sets to be effective (35-man big blob or 2x20 man legal blob). Not to mention that tipycally you buy both CCW and shooting Variants. Yeah, I did the same. I now own 100 Cultists - 50 ccw and 50 shooting. And havr a few useless champs. Figures.

      5-man boxes are useless as they have no champs AND spec. weapons guys so one has to rely on DV boxes / bitz.

      A full boxed set should include
      * 10 normal cultists
      * 10 ccw options
      * 10 shooting options
      * 1 stubber
      * 1 flamer
      * 1 champion for ccw
      * 1 champion for shooting
      * options for shooting champion

      Tht would be a REALLY bit Troops kit I think. And even then, magnetizing Cultists to be able to interchange between CCW and shooting options are far more expensive than actually buying twice as many models... (not counting working hours put into painting twice the number of models.)

      And, there are the Zombies - that will not see official modes I think, so either kitbash IG troops with WFBZombies, or go the Mantic-way.

      And by that time, you probably end up with 2x50 Cultists AND at least 2x35 or 3x20 Zombies. That's 160-170 models. And you are not playing IG, you are not playing Tyranids - you are playing Chaos. Great. And the better half of that money that was spent on these 160-170 models will NOT go to GW - as they FAIL to release a proper set wit every options so people cannot spend their money at GW's.

      Think Tervigons. or TWC. How much money did GW lose because people created their models using non-GW stuff? I'm neither a financial expert nor a decision maker but even I can see that this is the wrong way. GW should try to sell what people WANT and WANT TO BUY - not those things that "we want to sell because look how awesome they could be if we didn't mess up with the rules. But they look great, buy them. You cannot play with them because they suck, but we pot lot of work into them, just for you!"

      Nope. Not gonna work. Sell me what I want to buy. And we both are good. That's my 2 cents.

      Delete
    7. Its all well and good to say "well you can just split the DV box," but to say GW think people are stupid is a bit silly. Not everyone can tie up £70 for just 10 minis, or more if you want more than 10...

      Delete
    8. GW already has zombies (Warhammer). They are expecting people to kitbash for that. But not releasing a full boxed set of cultists, come on GW! I hope that this is just a marketing ploy to push more DV and wait until the cultist craze is over just to suprise us all with a NEW shiny product.

      Delete
    9. Who would give £70 for 10 minis? Go up for ebay, go for stores that sell bitz, buy only the Cultists. I bought 2x10 Cultists for about £20 at a bits shop. (I assume a GW boxed set of 10 Ciltists would be about £18 base on Dark Eldar troop prices. £20 for 20 models is not so bad I think.) So 8x10 Cultists were £80. No need to split DV. Just find the stores that sell what YOU want to buy... :)

      Delete
    10. @Dobi: But the Tervigon they did release sold like wildfire. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's the most successful non-vehicle kit to date (of any company). They made plenty of money on it and lost nothing, because they didn't make an investment that didn't sell. Even people who bought 3rd party minis (which looked terrible, mind you) bought the GW one when it released.

      You're right, you aren't a financial expert.

      Delete
    11. Both stories are anecdotal. We have no idea if it was a success or not.

      Unless Anon is an insider or something. I tend to believe that they lost money. These fools are chasing lawsuits with model companies that serve the HOBBYIST for copyright infringement on products that people want.

      Delete
    12. Please bear in mind that without GW making money, there is no 40k, or WFB. ^^; There'd be sets they make money on, and ones that they lose money on- the older armies for example. Unfortunately we have to wait for our armies to be updated, or pick up a new army

  3. Do we know what currency these prices are in? I'm assuming it's Euros but that's just a guess.

    3. pounds sterling would make all of these items out of whack with existing prices. I expect these are Euros.

      Delete
    4. Looks like dollars estimated from British Pounds because if they are Pounds or Euros then those character bitz are mighty expensive!

  6. badlands basing "klit", sweet!

  7. So about $10 US bucks for 5 cultists? (Assuming these prices are in Euros.)

    Eh, not bad. It could have been worse. But what IS bad is that we're at the point where $2 bucks for a single 28mm plastic figure seems acceptable. LOL.

    2. Welcome to Aus.

      Delete
    3. Ha, yeah. I'd expect the cultists for us to be 14 AUD, same as the other snap fit boxes. I'm guessing the 5-man box without heavies and leader is so players can bulk up the two units from DV.

      Delete
  8. Thr price point on cultists is actually not too bad. Consider that US pricing for imperial guard plastics is $2.90 a mini ($29.00 for 10). I imagine you get more with those IG kits, however (don't know, don't play IG).

    It certainly is cheaper price-per-mini to get DV but you are also paying for convenience with a separate kit for cultists. I barely have time to paint much less sell extra minis on ebay. Back in the day, I did it all the time, but I had much more freetime once upon a time.

    Really like the idea of themed basing kits. I hope we see more of these. Something along the lines of urban wasteland would be great for 40k.

  11. A 5 cultist box I can deal with. Them being the same snap models from dv I can deal with. Its total BS to put 3 guns and 2 cc in the same box! They could have at least had a shooty box and separate cc box! We have all these great new models, cultists, hellbrute, chosen; and no kits with the options they can take. I think I'm going to start making my own figs using insta mold.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. the cultist box is aimed at people who have already bought DV that ay you can bolster your existing cultists a little at a time 3 shooty and 2ccw that way you split them between the DV cultists to make each squad bigger each time

      Delete
  12. Maybe 5 cultists a box is too stop spam? Idk.

    ReplyDelete
  13. A 5 cultist box makes perfect sense to me. GW will sell loads but they wont impact DV sales. Perfect balance.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I love the wall, can't wait to get it, I would like to know the dimensions though

    ReplyDelete
  15. The 5-man Cultist kit looks to be the same as the other 'paint test' kits for other factions: Space Marines, Guard, Eldar, Tyranids all have them. Great for testing paint schemes or plugging holes in your army from lost models.
    I expect a full 10-man box with options and new multi-part sculpts to be on the way, especially with how popular they're turning out to be.

  16. Wall of Martyrs added to my shopping list for when I've £120 spare.

    1. Hope you got it spare sometime soon. Its rumoured that its limited edition. Not sure how credible that is though as it came from the comments section on here so you might be safe.

      £120 is a bit to steep for terrain for me no matter how nice it is. Models are one thing, terrain can be scratch built easy enough for a lot cheaper and depending on skill, often nicer.

      Im glad they r replacing Moria. In my GW pretty much all the characters in the set are eitger missing, or have broken swords, staffs, and the Cave Troll is missing an arm! :(

  21. I'm not normally one to complain about GW prices and whatnot because much of the time I'm happy with what I get for my money.

    That said, why on Earth is the Ultimate Paint Set $340 in the US and $540 in Canada when we have a stronger dollar? Like...holy hell. The border is 10 minutes from where I live...guess where I'm getting mine if I decide to treat myself this holiday?

  22. Looks to me too much "wfb". I apreciate full of DIFFERENT details, not this repetitive idea of cadian bodies, skulls, more skulls, more cadian bodies. As I said, so much fantasy for me to fit with my forgeworld barricades and my aegis defense lines. Why the hell are they filled with corpses placed in repeated scheme? Why the boxes are OUTSIDE the trench???¿? When we had the cityfight buildings they all loked different, and you could combine them to do original things... when we had the rsein barricades they all looked as being a single piece of art, each and everyone... this pieces all seems to me the same object just placed slightly different one from the other, so repeatedly schemed. My opinion: bad taste, and do ONE piece of terrain, repeat it 12 times, you got a big piece. You can sell it now twelve times its price. Sadly it has not the level of complexity and amazing details we can see in other GW kits.
