DETAILS:    Fresh Coast 40k gaming club (FC40k) will host “Foodhammer 2012”, the 2nd annual charity tournament benefiting the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, at Gamers Sanctuary on Saturday, November 3rd from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm; doors open at 10:00 am.

Gamers from around the region will gather in Flint to battle one another for prizes and bragging rights, but also to support an important local charity by donating to the cause.  Over 30 individuals are already pre-registered!  Find all the details at www.foodhammer.com.

The entry fee is $10 with great prizes awarded to the top players and a huge prize pool valued at over $3,000 will also be raffled off.  100% of the proceeds from the event are donated.

Sponsors providing prize support this year include Gamers Sanctuary, KR Multicase, Dragon Forge Design, Secret Weapon Miniatures, Army Builder/Lone Wolf Development, Mierce Miniatures, Jeff Porter Illustration, McDonalds, and even GW’s own Black Library.

Fresh Coast 40k will provide food from the on-site BBQ grill for everyone participating in the event throughout the day, all included with the $10 price of admission.

Last year, Fresh Coast 40k raised $1,070 dollars in cash and $1,500 worth of non-perishable food items for the less fortunate in the Mid-Michigan area, which provided hundreds of meals to local families.

OTHER: Fresh Coast 40k is a group of gamers in Mid-Michigan (Flint, Holly, and Lapeer area) that get together and play at Gamers Sanctuary, located on Miller Rd. near the Genesee Valley Mall in Flint.

Their exploits are documented on their blog at www.freshcoast40k.com.

Event details and pre-registration can be found at www.foodhammer.com.

  5. Anyone who lives in the Pacific North West or Western Canada can also follow the events at the Canadian Foodhammer. We're in our second year, raising money for the Langley Food Bank in the British Columbia lower mainland. Last year we handed over a cheque for $2060, and this year after expanding to Warmachine and Malifaux we're expecting to double the amount of money donated.

The hobby community can REALLY make a difference with having fundraising events. It is so much fun to organise AND participate in. I ran the Warhammer Fantasy event today and played my first game of it as a ringer as we had a sick player! Ahhh, good times!
