This is too let you know that I talked to someone who talked to a guy who is not a manager, but someone sent from GW.

He said that the new DA codex should be expected in January 2013.

      The constant Pushing back of rumored releas Dates is a bummer

      6th is very Bad Without dexes wrighten for it. Most dexes Miss antiair & Flyers and Thats just the Tipp of the iceberg. FAQs have been Poor and CSM dex was underwellming. 4 New Units and still no Good antiair ground Unit. Ontop the Problems with unfair unplayable rules like random Terrain WLTs and a psy-System that screws over low lvl psykers. And the absolutly unfair Allys System.

      Its really a shame GW will Take 2 years till this ED is somewhat Playable -.-

    2. I'm not exactly sure why you think it's unplayable. Sure there isn't a ton of anti-air, but that really isn't a big deal (If you really want flakk missiles, in a friendly game, just use the points our of the Chaos Codex). You just have to play smart. This guy has some good tips:

      I can't really see how random terrain is unfair. Random by definition, can't be unfair. Disadvantageous maybe, but not unfair. Plus, it says in the rulebook, you and your opponent can agree to specify what type of terrain.

      I love low level psykers because you are much more likely to get a good choice since you can't get lvl 2 powers on the roll. And if you really don't like that, you can use the powers from your codex like you used to.

      And as for allies, once again, everyone besides tyrannids can take them or choose not to. And the tyrannids can double their FOC above 2000pts (which taking allies below 2000 may not be that good anyway).

      All in all, I think 6th edition is great. Much more dynamic and fun than 5th. You won't be able to do things like you used to, but just learn to adapt.

    3. When i say unplayable
      I mean that a Lot of stuff is very very much worse now and you cant Win anymore. And Without New dexes Out some Armys just roflstomp everything becaus they can make Sick lists like "invisible seer Council" or "Air-crons" or some IG GK Combos.

      Some dexes have nö Way of dealing with Certain List. And others have to hardcounter Build their List to Deal with lets say "Air-crons" resulting in that they will lose more likely to anything els.
      So we have a few lists Running everything over and Thats Not what i call a Good Start for a balanced Game.

      The Bigger Problem is that the random Faktor is too High. So if your unlucky on those random Rolls you have a Bad setup. Going 2nd is now much more powerfull than Before due to premessureing. You lose on those important Rolls Before the Game & youre Opponent Rolls Good on those and on psypowers... What are you going to do?

      If they at least FAQed antiair or released some dexes to bring more of a balance to the Game.

      But if you Look at CSM its clear that the dex is Not helping the Meta. Compare CSM to Vanilla and you Run into the Same Problems of dealing with certain lists/Units. The Boon table is more of this random Win or lose BS wich doesnt Balance anything unless the dice knew how ghe Game was going at that Point. Sure its a New Fun Feature but how Long is it funnny?
      This is really a Bad Trend towards fluffybunny Play.

I've played fun games and in two tournaments and though I've played some lists that were completely not fun to play against, I ran into the exact same thing during 5th, 4th, 3rd, and 2nd Edition. New editions aren't to balance the game, they are to shake up the game and keep it fresh. Embrace it or find another system honestly.

      You are complaining that many codices don't have sufficient anti-air and flyers. Well if your opponent doesn't have flyers, you won't need any anti-air, yes?
      Randomness does not make things unbalanced - they are random for you AND your opponent! Yeah, you might have some bad rolls, but so might the person at the other side of the table!
      there have always been lists that exploit effective units to the point of spamming them, but in general I think this edition DID open quite a few new possibilities for other stuff to be tried and doing well, rather than either sticking to "list A" or "list B" from some website of a powergamer or lose.

      Night Fight a shooty Heavy List
      Crons go Around night figh
      Orkbikers go Around the Cover Nerf
      Area Terrain & going to ground gives you a 3+ Cover...snapshot lets Low BS Armys go Around the penalty from it pretty much
      Strong ICs benefit more from kill the warlord... Some dexes you cant even get a resiliant IC.

      There is no Coman ground about WLTs Terrain 2foc mysterias objektives & Terrain and Most Import about what points lvl the Game should be played.

      I find MYSELF playing a Game and knowing Turn 1 i cant Win the relic Mission with my Army vs what my Opponent has. I find MYSELF loseing Turn 2 caus the Opponent is allready in my table half with his Orks and crushing stuff in assault. While his stuff is only strippt of a few hullpoints. I find my Self Not Even being able to Score linebreaker or kill the warlord and Not being able to contest his Base. Leaveing me to Play for a Draw at best from the Start. In One Game i lose 2 terminators Form overwatch and 1 in closecombat vs a small ork squad. How can that Even be?
      I dont See how a Game is Fun were i am Set up to lose and Must Hope for lucky Rolls!!!

      I Hope the DA dex rebalances smth or els i wont be playing anymore for 4 years

      As far as lists go. I dont See the Web lists gone. & i dont See how a Old dex can suddenly compet now either.
      Ofc i Could only Play Fun Games but whats really the Point of a New Edition then? As if i couldn't make up some House rules Before???

    4. the hellbrute price correction was proably done because the writer forgot that the combi-bolter was an OPTION when listing the rules. the hellbrute now more or less is on par points wise with a Codex space marines dreadnought.

    8. Yeah, they didn't break the game, genius. I am not even slightly scared of 420 zombies, which is 1800 pts, btw. A 1750 army with zombies will most likely have three, maybe four, blocks of 30 or so zombies. I would be INFINITELY more scared of that many ork boyz. Do you have any idea what a squad of assault marines with two flamers and a Sanguinary priest w/combi-flamer (a unit I very frequently run) will do to a squad like that? Statistically, 30 dead zombies in one turn. A unit that dies in one turn is your idea of OP? Other units, like eldar wyches or death company will quite literally MOW through even a full, 35-man zombie squad. It most certainly has NOT broken the game.

    11. Its Not about how Strong they are but how cheap they are pointswise.
      Youre still Running other Units like terminators and oblits... Wich can be meatshielded by Zombies vs Charges. You can also Stick a IC to One of the Zombie Squads to Give them more melee punsh

      All you Need is 4 Big Squads attacking & 2 10man on objectives.

      You can spread Out so much that a 5" blast only Hits 3-4 Zombies... So Great if youre Opponent warst's shoots on them.

      A dread cant be hurt by Zombies so they can Leave the Combat After a round .... And if they Stick in a dread will Not kill them all, over the Length of a Game in Most cases. So if they are on an objectives at the end they still Score and the dread can Not

  15. DA release date is between 1-7th DEC, Nov is Hobbit release month. store managers only find out 2 month in advance what new items are due in, this is to cut down on the rumours but too allow them to organise events in time for the new releases.

  17. The thing that I am most interested to see in Codex Dark Angels is how they deal with the added points cost of a flyer. In codex csm we see very low cost cultists off-setting this math problem. Drop a troop you normally play with. Replace with cultist, add flyer.

    Will codex DA also have a unit like this?

  18. If it isn't November it's not likely to be December (as GW usually do Christmas gift releases in December - mega paint sets, megaforces etc) - So if DA aren't in next weeks White Dwarf - it'll be 2013 I reckon.

      - december means wallets full of money and xmas vacations while in january people work/study?
      - DA are in the starter box and on the cover of the BGB with the worst 40k codex ever?
      - DA codex is 6 years old in march 2013 and DA players are waiting a new codex since march 2007?
      - every month of waiting for DA codex pushes back tau, eldar an BT too?

      I dont think that GW will be so stupid to waste the potential big sales of DA new codex during xmas time.
      If they will do so they deserve to go bankrupt IMHO. ;)

  21. Called it! (made logical sense of why it would be Jan and not Nov in the Hints for November post a few days ago)
    but sad that it is actually january, been looking forward to DA codex for a while now.
    I think GW are setting a pre-order for January release before christmas say roughly half way through, therefore making money from that with the capitalising on christmas money by having the general release first saturday in January.
    makes sense to me.
