  1. 32mm bases for tactical marines - it looks like this is going further than just jump infantry.

    1. That's the first thing that jumped out at me, too~

Looks like an awful lot of people have an awful lot of modifications to make to their armies...

    2. What I want to know is are they going to be repacking most kits with new base sizes and which sizes apply to what?

    3. Why should "an awful lot of people make an awful lot of modifications" to their armies? Unless 8th edition comes about and says infantry stand on 32mm bases, these new bases for Blood Angels arent going to change anything.

    4. I didn't notice it at first but the bases do look bigger...that's annoying, is gw going to be putting all infantry on them? What are 25mm for now then?

    6. Currently the descriptions and pictures on the GW website for assault marines, command squad, individual models like generic SM commander etc still state and show 25mm bases. It would be odd for larger base sizes to be exclusively BA though so presumably everything else will be repackaged soon.

    7. They've done the same for the Death Company models in the boxset. The cynic in me wonders if this has been dreamed up to hurt 3rd-party base manufacturers.

    8. FengLong, no one will have to make modifications to their bases. Stop being silly.

    9. Why would GW release new bases just to put out 3rd party creators of resin bases? It's not like they cut into GW's own base sales...lol

Seems like money invested into production to little effect. I suspect that the reason for this will become clear in time and is possibly game-related instead.

  2. I don't really know why they've been created... but I want them!

    1. i heard you wanted a base on your base so we made another base to fit on that base and a base for that

  3. I notice a grav gun in one picture. Think they'll have Centurions, too?

  4. Finally "true scale" marines ? O_o

  5. Clearly, as BA player I love fielding tactical marines - thats why I chose a chapter that *DOESN'T REQUIRE TACTICAL MARINES* in their troops slot. I can't see a huge rush of BA players running out to get this box unless they just want the bitz for an assault squad mashup (but then you'll need to get the DC kit too to get the BA specific bolt pistols and chainswords - so why bother with this worthless tactical box?)

What the heck is GW thinking? Go home GW, you're drunk.

    1. They're probably thinking that they already have the DC sprue for assault marines, so they may as well do a tactical version for the tacticals and devs. Not everyone with BA, especially newer players, uses all assault armies.

    2. No they are waiting for a year so that they can flog you a campaign with it as well - tyranids anyone?

    3. I am a BA player who uses both Tacts and Assault marines. I do not like melee combat but our rules are geared toward it. I love these models and will be buying 4.

    4. Just cus they can have assault marines as troops I prefer not too, as I like to collect third company and as such feel tactical marines sit better from a fluff perspective. If I didn't want tactical sqds I'd be collecting wolves or even *shudders* chaos.

      My 2 cents

    5. @shemp, is it the chapters' lore that keeps you running them as blood angels and not a space marine sub chapter?

      Delete
    6. They are still a codex chapter with the majority of the chapter made up of tactical marines as it still follow the codex organisation and tactics but with a slight preference to assault.
I've have blood angels since the 2nd ed codex and the were even more codex back then! Having no tacticals in a blood angels army is actually more unusual and unlikely if truly following the fluff:)

    7. Yeah, if you are going full fluffy lists then you would see a lot more tactical marines. on the table playing a lot of tactical marines actually hurts you more than they help. Pending the new book everything is over costed except the assault items, for example Rhino + Assault squad is actually quite good and tactical squad + Rhino is much higher and in my opinion far less effective.

    8. I have always ran tactical heavy with a lot of success. And I have been playing BA since second edition.

  6. Once again a rule from sisters that made them awesome, heavy flamers on troops, is given to blood angels. Hope they don't take it away like they did fast flamers

  7. New bases are beginning to feel like a real bad idea, do you folks realize how much this is going to mess up 40k? I'm not going to over emphasize the point but, oh no :(

    1. It'll just be one of those things they phase in over time, it isn't going to invalidate any models anyone already owns.

    2. How is it going to mess up 40k? The larger bases just give us more room to base models. It's not like they're releasing a rule that says that all your models have to be on the new bases.

  9. Well I'll eat my hat...

Such an odd choice on GW's part.

Also, Blood Angels: the only chapter that gives their Tactical and Assault squads weapons that make sense.

  10. Do they have a 500 dollar dragon releasing this week, and the cover is space marines??? Why aren't they showcasing smaug?? That makes no sense to me at all.

    1. Well, Blood Angels kits they can expect to sell more than one of.

      Delete
    2. do they expect to sell Smaug or is it just to fill Licence Obligations. i have no doubt some will sell but $500 model in Australian prices .......yeah i don't think so [or anywhere not USA/UK].

  11. A show of hands for those that have been running a lot (more than 10) tactical marines as blood angels........... thought so...such a weird choice of model kit

    1. Two tactical squads minimum and at least one or two more as Sternguard. If I wanted Marines in robes I'd be playing Dark Angels.

    2. I'm still a fan of the fast vehicle spam with combat squads for scoring objectives...So raise hand for me too.

  12. The new tactical squad looks great but their helmet's will remain firmly on their heads. Blood Angels are supposed to have handsome features, not look like Quasimodo.

    1. the emperor's children called and want to speak to you about that.

even post heresy they should be the most beautiful space marines but aren't.....

  13. They look nice, don't get me wrong, but this is the most unnecessary and unasked-for kit release since Dreadfleet.

    1. Apparently not, given two posts up...lol

    2. People may have been running Tac Squads with BA, but that doesn't mean they were asking for a BA-specific Tac Squad.

  14. So the Angels get heavy flamers, there's going to be some unhappy Salamander players. Tempting for me though. I've always wanted a Black Dragon army using the Angels rules.

  15. I predict that they will release a update or dataslate to allow heavy flamers for all chapters. (Maybe čśü)
