Endtimes Khaine, The First Glimpse of This Weekend's White Dwarf

This week the Endtimes are back for book 3. The Endtimes Khaine is a two book set with one dedicated to background and a much smaller book with the rules dedicated to those the elves. Now a new leaked image is out showing off the cover this weekend's White Dwarf.

Here is where you can see the cover. With the cover out, I am sure that more will be coming soon to get a better look at what the new book will have in it.

    2. figures, was hoping he'd be a part of whatever 3 pack set they'd release with this.

    3. To be fair, you can very easily use the horned helmet from the current Black Dragon kit, the one that came out for Storm of Magic, and create an extremely dynamic Malekith model. Shame they decided to put a picture of the 20 year old model on the cover instead!

    4. well here's to hoping that at least there will be a new model eventually fot that image of khaine from the trailer.

    5. Honestly, most rumors point to no new models with this End Times book.

Personally I think that's plain stupid, but that's what all the sources are saying.

    6. @inquisitor not if they want to focus on flogging the new Magic Cards set as early reports have indicated...

    7. @inquisitor that's one of the reasons i'm looking forward to this book release. if the rule book shows new character rules and models, then the models may be released at a later date.

  2. Honestly, that looks like it could be a fake. I'm hoping so anyways. It's embarrassing to put a model that old on the cover. I like old models as much as the next guy, but that doesn't hold a candle to Nagash and Glottkin.

    1. where are you seeing an old model?

      Delete
    2. @Mary That model in the image....linked above.....is at least 15 years old.

    3. ^ Malekith himself is the old model. it says it is supplied with a MPPK black dragon as well however there are two black dragons on GW website for DE's, however not sure if it is the same one as the non Malekith black dragon, if not then it is based on an old sculpt which used to be metal [obviously]

if it is the old sculpt then it is old, if it is the new black dragon [relatively speaking] then it is only Malekith who is the old model.

    4. or simply what Mortechai said.

    5. Don't think that's a faked image unfortunately. Look at the background of that cover, take a look at some of the previous WD leaked images, looks like the same yellowish tile pattern in the background. Same place "leaking" the images as soon as they get them in the store.

  3. Games Workshop is a model company first..it is their motto..Do you really believe some rumor shill that GW is going to pass up on the proven success on the first two releases and not release Elf models? Who doesnt see a box set that makes a dragon rider for the three elf armies? and charge $100.00 for it..I would buy three of them, if the elves get no models, as the rumors suggest, then GW is dumb and deserves to go out of business,

    1. Seriously? No new models for one race in one game system means: thousands of people deserve to lose their job; anyone, individuals and pension funds alike, who bought shares deserves to lose their money; and players and painters all over the world deserve to see the end of development and support for their hobby. I'm all for passion about the hobby but perhaps that's a little extreme?

    2. The book presumably contains rules for Avatar of Khaine.
They bring an almost Nagash-priced model (and pretty epic at that) into WHFB without spending any money on designing a new model. That's a neat bussiness move.

    3. Apart from WE they all have updated dragons.

Sure they could make some Models. But judgeing by rumor and rumored fluff there is no real need & indication that there will be any.
All rumors are hellbend on BAs before xmas.
I would expect some fantasy Army deals & maybe Terrain. But i guess anything els makes little sence to releas before Xmas. Its just not enough Time to buy and history shows they never releas much just before tge holiday.
We got the xmas bundels last week. Dont expect anything els until 2015. So very likely no Elves at all.

    4. Cauldron of Blood. nuff said.

apparently not [enuff said]: use the Khaine statue from that if there really is going to be a fantasy avatard model.

  4. Aside from Malekith's model being ugly as sin, its fascinating to see the Phoenix Guard fighting along side him, with High Elf spearmen in the background.

It seems to support the earlier rumors that Malekith is becoming a hero of sorts while Tyrion is a villain.

    1. Agree, this is fascinating. It actually supports the idea of Malekith as Phoenix King. That said Phoenix Guard are silent (won't speak) and have knowledge of the future and the final battle that no other elves have, so their reasons for following Malekith might be more cryptic. The use of the old model is a bit tired but is the only way they can be clear it is Malekith without a new model but it is bizarre - it's a metal model isn't it?

      Delete
    2. Id argue that since the pheonix guard bent the knee to tyrion that maybe tyrion found out teclis sacrificed his daughter and in his rage threw his lot in with malakeith to get revenge on teclis and since all of ulthuans armies are under his command except imriks thats ehy the dragon stands against them as his is the only army left to stop malakeith becoming the phoenix king

      Delete
    3. Imrik was standing just behind Malekith though, you can see his Dragon's goofy jazz-hands.

      Delete
    4. says it is MPPK black dragon for http://www.games-workshop.com/en-AU/Malekith-Witch-King-on-Black-Dragon

but i haven't bought the kit so i am unsure if it is that same dragon per kit or is it the other one

      http://www.games-workshop.com/en-AU/Dark-Elf-Dreadlord-on-Black-Dragon

however you will note that both appear to be plastic. [someone who owns the kit can verify either way]

      Delete
    5. The old dragon models have plastic bodies and wings with metal heads, tails, and hands. I have no idea if those pieces are still metal since my Malekith is twelve years old.

      Delete
  5. You can see Imrik too. Which sucks because if any elves needed new models it was those two...

    1. Give WHFB some spot, besides there isnt real point in trying to buff the nids with new models and rules if every time they get a codex they got nerfed.

      Delete
    2. Iam just kiddin :) and but neurothrope and the droppod all the new models are more or less useless anyway ;)

      Delete
    3. Except with the new drop-pod changing completely nid dynamics no one can be sure whether they won't have uses in certain contexts.

    4. I proxy tried em, Maleceptor does nothing at all, toxicrene is all about getting a six (we have enough of those already) mucolid spore only works as a really cheap troops choice for MC heavy lists and Sporocysts is never going to find a place in any list cuz it is heavy support

  7. I'm still excited about this release, and my moneys on a fantasy Khain model (I've been told it's going to happen so fingers crossed)
and who's the Eternity King? maybe seeing a mini for him who knows what's coming eh, I'm just glad that things are happening :)
Viva Games Workshop may they last forever!

    1. keep it 1984 comrade. ;) lol who knows indeed. many are speculating though so that is one thing we know. ;)

    2. I guess we'll be stuck with 40k model.
Which isn't that bad, it costs less than Nagash and looks better that one.

      Delete
    3. I'd imagine Eternity King is a Wood Elf thing - probably a ramped up Orion given the Asrai have a lot of things with "Eternal" or "Eternity" in their names....

      Delete
    4. Also, we're the only Elven race who aren't in decline. I would love it if, while Tyrion and Malekith are dick-measuring, Araloth stepped into the Flame and became the new Phoenix King.

      Delete
    5. Dude you're such a rabid Wood Elves fan

      Delete
    6. I think you're getting your LotR mixed in with your WFB, Thomas. The dark elves are generally in really good shape, though I haven't read the high elf book, the high elves appear to simply be a shadow of what they once were, which is very different from being on their way out the door. On top of that, according to the dark elf book, both high and dark elves look down on the wood elves for their apparent lack of concern with everything that doesn't enter their realm - I would bet that Tyrion and Malekith would both stop fighting each other, mid-duel, to stop any wood elf from approaching the Flame of Asuryan.

      Delete
    7. According to the Wood Elf AB (a totally unbiased source of course), both the Dark and High Elves are races in decline, doomed to fail under the weight of their petty squabbles and colossal arrogance. Only the Asrai remain unchanged and undiminished, eternal like their forest home.

"Despite efforts to the contrary, the folk of Ulthuan and Naggaroth are fading from the world. The Wood Elves, by contrast, neither grow nor dwindle..."

And I was only joking about Araloth, I doubt any Wood Elf would even give a toss about becoming Phoenix King!

      Delete
    8. I also never said they were "on their way out the door," but just that they're in decline, which definitely seems to be the case with Ulthuan beset on all sides and the Dark Elves stabbing each other in the back, even as the hordes of Chaos attack their homeland.

      Long story, WOOD ELVES, WOOOO!!!!

    9. plot twist: a dwarf becomes the next Phoenix King.

      Blam! *heresy*

i hope Malekith becomes the next PK [like the model overall, not much a fan of DE though in order to paint/collect]

  8. I can't help but feel that the avatar in the gw video looks a lot like malekith... No need for a new model if they kill him off!

Massive missed opportunity though. The old model is ugly as hell. Bring him back on his chariot!

  9. I often wonder if (back in the day), Jes Goodwin had some sort of contract that said his sculps had to be used for 25 years +.

All his old ones don't get re-done and newer sculpts by different sculpters do.

It's the same with Ragnar, Ulrik, Mephiston, Dante, etc..

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hmm, I think it's probable, sadly it is the Goodwin evergreens that get rolled out over and over. it would be nice to see new sculpts of all the mini's you mention and the rest.

Jes is a lovely guy though met him a couple of times :)

      Delete
    2. Sure, nothing against him, I'm sure he's a nice fellow and he's made some iconic mini's.

I just can't see any other logical reason why gw never renew his oldest sculpts but renew newer sculpts from other sculptors.

I reckon gw are waiting for the contracts to expire before re-sculpting these iconic characters.

Though, if they release a new Mephiston with the BA codex that'll prove me wrong ;)

    3. They over stocked.

Like SOB metals. They didnt sell the expected ammount and thats Why we still have them. Ofc no One buys these old models now, so it will take even longer till stock has sold off.
There must be a Dark room somewere in GWs HQ were all tge old stuff is. Ork buggies, jetbikes & tons of metal models.

  10. Ugh, I do not like the old 'S' shape dragon models they have used for damn near 20 years.
