Forgeworld: Upgrade Set for the Imperial Fists Legion

Forgeworld this morning is showing off a couple images of their upcoming new Upgrade Sets for the Imperial Fists Legions. These are just now heading off to production, so we should see them soon. The image above are models made with the parts.

First up is the soon to be released upgrade set for the Imperial Fists Legion,. I got a few quick shots of some of the parts from the kit before it was whisked away to Production, and also some models the Studio have built up with it using Legion MkIV Maximus Armour.

Also from the latest newsflash......

  1. Always cool looking but I would rather they sell the entire suit of armor instead of an upgrade. No way I'd double dip into the 30k infantry purchase.

    1. That's the very same reason I've yet to bother with it. I want to but it seems like I'd be needlessly spending extra cash.

    2. Neither myself nor anybody in my local group plays 30k, and it's largely the extra expense that stops it. Forgeworld makes beautiful models, but IMO the infantry isn't THAT much better than the regular stuff. The vehicles and MC's/walkers are awesome though, and some are seen from time to time... In 40k games ofc.

    1. The contents list is up on the preview page. Of course we don't know if there are new solar auxilia kits to be released, but there are no new knights. It seems like a stop gap book where they can buy themselves time to catch up with unreleased kits from the first three books, like primarchs, special characters and pretty much the whole of the alpha legion.

    2. @Johnny Lho

      Well considering the Solar Auxilia list is around 50 pages long I'd say it's pretty much guaranteed to contain a lot more new units than the few we've seen so far.
      Also I'm not entirely sure that a book with 2 complete army lists, one of which is entirely new can really be considered a "stop gap" but it does give them a bit of breathing space and time to catch up when it comes to the Astartes it's true

  3. I'm really disappointed with the size of those shields and I've been a son of Dorn since 3rd edition ; ;

    1. They would look far better on terminators.

    2. They're boarding shields for a specific squad, the Phalanx Warder squad from HH book 3 who all have Boarding shields and the option of upgrading to a power axe.

      Seeing as a boarding shield is basically a riot shield and needs to hide the entire marine behind it the size is about right really.
