So many people now have given to the rumors of what armies will be in the 6th edition starter set, and some rumors have discussed a couple likely units that will be in the box. Today we have something a little more solid on just what Dark
Angel and Chaos Marine units we may be getting.

Please remember that this is a rumor, no official announcement has been made.

Starter news I have heard from several places now:

Dark Angels:
Terminator Captain
5 Deathwing
Tac Squad
Ravenwing bikes (3 likely)

Chaos:
Sorcerer
Chosen
CSM squad?
Cultists
Posessed?
Dreadnought?

Dreadnought seems likely, as it adds vehicle rules. CSM squad may be referring to the chosen, or may not. Posessed will have to see, but they would add a daemonic aspect to the force.

  1. Keen as mustard for this starter, everything I could use.

  2. I posted earlier today something very similar that I heard first hand from a source yesterday

    1. thanks, I had not yet gotten that far to the Bols forums this morning. Good rumor set, I have it going live here shortly.

  3. More cultist rumors make me happy as it would likely mean neat things for the CSM book itself. Hopefully that pans out.

  4. This would make bringing my ravenwing up to speed easier (I only have 13 bikes currently, 12 setup as regular marines and 1 as a biker chaplain) since I'll probably wind up buying 3 of them lol. The more I buy the closer I get to a full 1st company too (currently i only have 33 termies, I dream of 100 eventually). And it would make a convenient start for my wordbearers.

  5. I hope they're not going to be impossible to remove the Dark Angels iconography from them otherwise there would be little to no use for anyone outside Dark Angels or Chaos Space Marines to use them. I'm also hoping they don't end up like AoBR with two dimensional tac marines and a dreadnaught that's hollowed out and has little in the ways of customization.

  6. If true that would be an inspiring boxed set. I personally hope for some really dynamic models along the lines of space hulk, especially for the bikes and terminators.

  7. I'll like it if it has more options than AoBR. By this I mean I want it more like the things included are actual sets, rather than 2D clip together s***. Sure, the easy assembly might draw a few more people in, but as the majority of people who buy this already have an army, I think GW should consider this instead. I for one would only buy it if the arms were separate from the body, so I wouldn't need to get a saw to customise the models.

    1. I find the static ones still useful for filling out squads. I'd guess they'd be similar to the ones in the paint starter set.

    2. Actually, I work in a store, a d by FAR it's new people who buy the starter set. Like, a ratio of 100:1. Of course all the models are going to be the simplified versions with single poses and only one weapon option. They shod still be super cool models, but that's what you trade off for getting so many nice models for cheap. 2 battleforces worth of models for less than the cost of one is pretty ridiculous.

  8. I hope the deathwing will have their own box set like the sw wolf guard and not just be in the starter set like the high elf units.

Also completely different sybject, the iron hands tacitcal squad is no longer in production in europe.

  9. I'm very keen on the idea of cultists, they pop up in droves in every 40k Chaos book I've read!

  10. I am happy with that list as it adds to everything that I have got and that I want to build on, I love the bikes as I been meaning to get some more scout bikes, so bikes in the box set, ya :)

for the chaos side, i still not sure it be chaos, as that's two power armour army, anyway we will see

  11. I don't buy it. As cool as cultists and some chaos would be I doubt they'll have chaos and marines in the same box. I'm of the camp that believes they wouldn't have two similar armies in the starter.
I'd bank on Dark Angels and either Tau or Eldar. They're going to want to boost an army that is older and not as well established as Chaos. A codex release by itself will sell enough Chaos.

    1. No way they put two "good guy" armies in the box set.

    2. Agreed with Anon above. They have to have something evil - nids, Orks, etc. I could almost imagine Necrons or Dark Eldar making the cut, but no way will it be Tau or Eldar, considering how far out their codices are in the release schedule.

    3. It'd be better as Eldar vs chaos. Those two have one long history, hell, Slaanesh owes his/her existence to them. Plus, themed as ulithwe would allow for plastic wraithguard in the box, which would probably sell as much as all of chaos by themselves.

    4. No Eldar and Necrons!

  12. Certainly, I can't see there being no vehicle in the box, that'd just scream stupid to me.

  13. This "rumour" seems to simply state the obvious in relation to the actual rumours that have been kicking around for quite a while.

The only thing i would add is that the Chaos Dreadnought rumour seemed really quite strong, and to consider as part of the boxed set something new such as Dark Angel jet bikes might be an idea. With nothing new from a Dark Angel point of view i'm not sure how it will excite people - their list is looking too vanilla at the moment.

    1. Remember, core sets are for beginners. I'm going to buy it to get my 6th Ed rulebook pocket sized edition. The plethora of models is awesome, but this product is not targeted at us veterans.

  14. I very much hope that the Dark Angels stuff isn't too Dark Angels'y, I'd love to get this for th enew rule book but if I can't add the Space Marines to my existing army it may not be worth it. I've fancied starting a wee Chaos army though, so they're a cool feature to have.
