Age of Sigmar- New Warhammer Fantasy

New rumor bits are coming in saying that the first week of July we will be talking about Warhamer Fantasy, and the Age of Sigmar. I don't have a lot of information on this except for a pre-order date. Check out the latest for Warhammer Fantasy.

Please remember that these are rumors.

  1. Y'know, it's not that I don't believe it until I see it... It's that I don't CARE until I see it. 9th has been the 'hot topic' for so long that I'm just over it.

Unless it's PHENOMENAL I'm probably not going to invest in it anyway, but at this point I'm just tired of seeing BIG NEWS around these tiny little unconfirmable tidbits.

Meanwhile, we're getting pics and news galore for Admech and Space Marines and everything 40k. It makes the Fantasy stuff seem like garbage by comparison.

    1. If you are not interested in fantasy rumors simply don't open the link. No reason to rain on others parade

    2. Dr Bored, I can state categorically that you are incorrect (based on no evidence). It's gonna be awesome!

    3. I mean, that's the reason I keep coming to the fantasy rumors, because I keep hoping that it will indeed be awesome. I want the game to succeed.

But I just don't care any more about the 'news'. Just give me the game already so we can get over it.

    4. DrBored, you act like you wouldn't complain if someone gave a brick of gold with no strings attached.

      "Why not 2 bricks, though?"

      Delete
    5. You are failing to understand what Dr.Bored is sayzing (at least you are if my interpretation is correct)

He's saying that the amount and quality of the RUMOURS for fantasy are garbage and tiny, especially when compared to the 40k RUMOURS where we get loads of details and leaked pictures etc.

He's not ragging on fantasy or the 'new' version of fantasy, just getting bored waiting for it to be released or for there to be some more concrete and detailed information over what it will look like.

Tldr Dr.Bored would love a brick of gold with no strings attached, but don't spend a year telling him "well you'll get something, it could be a brick of gold, or it could be a bucket of shit, or a talking pig or a bag of tits or a monkey named Paul."

    6. True. But that's just because we have had 3 months of 40K

    7. GW.has ditched WFB for the most.
I doubt the new game will change anything.

Rebranding in Name usually means they have realised the game sucks.and are trying to sugar coat it, instead of changeing it.
Bases and a Allie System or Army merger are just no changes to the game. And certianly not a solution to counter low intresst. Allies has not worked for 40k in Terms of higher annual profits.

I predict GW will make everything worse for the fans of that game.

    8. Seb, ... really?

<< GW has not ditched WFB. They have pretty much ditched Hobbit and LOTR, but not Fantasy. I agree with you that their pricing strategy has not earned them many new players, but I am not sure they want to grow and make money hand over fist. They could easily earn huge profits if they went to a volume-based over luxury-based price strategy, but that is another point altogether. I am willing to bet you will see a huge shift not only in the way fantasy is played, but also in how it is marketed.

I doubt the new game will change anything. <Go ahead, you're typically inaccurate, so I will take that as a good sign.

Rebranding in Name usually means they have realised the game sucks.and are trying to sugar coat it, instead of changeing it.
<< I think the point is that they ARE changing it, and that is the issue being discussed. I look forward to your next post complaining about how much they have changed and ruined the game.

Bases and a Allie System or Army merger are just no changes to the game.
<< These are unproven rumors, and Allies did change 40 dramatically. My understanding of the Fantasy rumors (and I am not saying that I buy them hook, line, and sinker) is that the round bases are not just an arbitrary change, but to better suit skirmish-style play. And teh Allies matrix has worked very well for 40k. Just look at posted lists of Skitarii in drop pods.

And certianly not a solution to counter low intresst. Allies has not worked for 40k in Terms of higher annual profits.
<< But you can choose not to see it merely because it doesn't fit your current narrative.

I predict GW will make everything worse for the fans of that game.
<< Why are you even inserting yourself into the conversation if you don't play or understand this game? Just reminding everyone of how much you hate the game that gives your life meaning or are you just throwing grenades to get a little attention again?

Stupid me, I'm the troll who took your bait.

  2. The old fluff still exists.

Many names and themes will be familiar.

The story has moved on a touch (finally and thankfully), yet people are crying "GW is throwing everything out that I hold sacred (even though I complain equally about the story never progressing)! I'm done!"

Good riddance. I am excited about this. For the first time in years, I think Fantasy will become relevant, interesting, and playable again.

    1. I hope you're right McDoogle! It's not often that I can agree with you, but cheers for being optimistic!

    2. Shut up McDoogle.

      That is all.

    3. The end times has been the catalyst that got me to finally start a Bretonnian army, And though i hear heavy cavalry is bag in the current edition, and Bretonnia had an ancient book, I am hopeful. (Which is a really weird feeling as a Black Templar player.

    5. Lol@ sudden doogle hate.

    6. The problem wasn't the background, the problem was its a terrible game. Big monsters are silly, magic is OP now and unit sizes/ ranks should never have gone from 4x3 to 5x3.
I'm keen for a great fantasy game. I already had great fantasy setting.

    7. McDoogle is right. In fact, GW should do the same quality control with 40k. A giant black hole should open up and swallow the galaxy, eliminating several armies. Then, space marine players could only use a tactical squad of smurfs, an assault squad from BA, a dreadnought Iron Hands, bikes from White Scars, and termies from DA. But that's all you have available because GW isn't supposed to support other old units. But you can use your old armies just like you still use your 5th edition codexes now, right? Oh and you're switching to rank and file with square bases. Let's see how those rumours float your boat as the collective net rage causes brains of wargamers to explode in an apocalyptic blast the likes of which the world has never seen.

Yes I realize that most of these are unsubstantiated rumors for fantasy but we tire of others saying how awesome the utter destruction of our game is. So before you celebrate it, please think of how you would enjoy it should your favorite game be ruined. Yes ruined, not improved by obliteration. Thanks.

    8. where does it say fluff still exists without a sliver of doubt? because nothing official states it will stay, same with factions. until we get more info then it is just speculation and hope that it will be the same as well as other game type.

optimistic yes, realistic...sure.....though it's not 100% without a doubt the scenario at hand.

      Delete
    9. "which proves without a doubt that it is the scenario at hand"

    10. @ Charles; Yeah, me too. I play Templars, and Lizardmen. I was all excited (and broke) jusr a year or so ago when the LM got their new book. The magic was crappi-to-mediocre, but the new models were amazing. Then they all left the planet.

But I will try to assume positive intent. Templars will come back, and so will the Bretonnians and Lizardmen.

@ Thomas... dude. I get it, i get frustrated at Seb and a couple of other bomb-throwers here, but I do not hate any of them.

Take it a little easy on the caffeine, man.

  3. I feel like this Age of Sigmar is going to be the "skirmish" level game we've been hearing rumors about, and that 9th edition Warhammer will still remain largely familiar to 8th edition players.

Time will tell, I'm excited to (hopefully) start seeing/hearing more concrete answers to whats next in Fantasy come June!
