A New Surprise for the Next Warlord Titan?

This was left in the comment section, and apparently it was left there twice, and I just missed it the first time around. There is a new artwork with a Warlord Titan in it and the Cult Mechanicus forces. Interesting and a clue to for something to come?

  1. Full Adeptus Mechanicus codex can take a Warlord Titan as LoW...

    probably not.

    1. I'm pretty sure it'll be available to any Imperial faction, just like the Warhound and reaver.

  2. the college titanica is part of the adeptus Mechanius, we saw pictures of skitarii working alongside titans in their 'dex. this is pretty normal.

  3. Considering that is not the mars pattern Warlord that was just released, i'm guessing No. especially since GW is not going to toss out a Different model Warlord in Plastic on the heals of FW's Warlord

    1. Oh yeah, because GW/FW are against variety. I forgot.

    2. There's no way in hell we're going to see this model of Warlord on the table any time soon. The cost for a mould that size compared to how many they're going to sell, combined with the fact that the majority of that market just got wiped out by the FW model, or at least will only pick up one of the two. They'd be essentially doubling their mould costs for the same number of Titan sales. No way in hell we're going to see it soon.

    3. @Nathaniel Wright: It isn't about variety - it's about the fact that GW isn't going to cannibalize FW stuff anymore. They haven't for years. Unless it's something really old, GW just isn't going to port it to 40k. FW would make literally no money on their own Titan if GW made one in plastic.

As for the photo: it's just art. There are crazy monsters and contraptions in the background(s) of 40k art everywhere. Doesn't mean they will turn into models. Plus, this flat-box version looks STUPID.

    4. Oh man you're right they totally don't have forgeworld plague marines and GW plague marines! Or GW Berzerkers and FW Berzerkers!

    5. @Mcdoogle normally i wouldnt chime in, but youre very wrong about GW not taking FW items away. Just in recent years weve seen the flyrant and the hydra, and I thought the void spinner eldar tank was also a FW model prior. And most recently we see Command tanks for SM which prior have really only been a FW thing with the Damocles...assuming you dont count the apoc upgrade sprue.

I think there is a time and place for it. And its not always based solely on the economics of it. We still have FW and GW Eldar Avatars! Neither appear to be going away despite the wishlisting every time an eldar release gets rumored.

    6. No, McD is right: GW generally doesn't pinch FW units anymore and haven't done so on a large scale for years. The Skyray & Flyrant were the last ones to be done and those were years old until GW pinched the Hydra, but then the new Hydra is a smidge different to the old one and GW wanted to create the Wyvern so they made an exception.

There's doubly no way we'll see either FW or GW risk investing in the naff Lucius pattern Warlord because it will eat into sales of the spanky-new Mars pattern model and that's just bad for business. Plus plastic models of that size? Very unlikely.

    7. Doogle: that is what i think of the Beetle-backed one that was just released and according to the internet i am not alone. that one looks stupid. but i can appreciate they made it into a model for those that think it looks awesome, let those who think the boxy titans look awesome think it is awesome. Deal? deal.

    8. Mauler: for that very same reason we will never see plastic thunderhawks or anything larger than imperial knights.

    9. I'm in full agreement, Mr Apos. I've always said that. :]

    10. "Oh man you're right they totally don't have forgeworld plague marines and GW plague marines! Or GW Berzerkers and FW Berzerkers!"

If I am not mistaken, GW made those kits FIRST, and FW made their kits after.

    11. Rumors of plastic mk III and IV armor disagree with your position. Add to that, the mechanicus (previously only a forgeworld faction) is now in the main game. If they think it will make them money, they will do it.

    12. FW does Mechanicum. GW does Adeptus Mechanicus. Different eras. Different units. Different weapons. Different stats. Different rules.

  4. This is just what I think but this isn't the first time we see big entities in the background of pictures like this. Codex khorne demonkin and codex harleyquins both have pictures similar to this one and they have giant silhouettes of beings towering above. What I think is they are supposed to represent the gods of the respective codex like khorne our the laughing god. Maybe that big titan liking thing in the background could be the image the cult mech believe their machine god looks like(don't know how to spell the actual name) I could be wrong of course but it's kind of cool to think about it with these new style of codex

    1. and Skitarii has warhounds in the background. this isn't a clue to new releases. if anything it's a subtle tie in to the new FW titan

    2. I can't wait to see the BA and Space Wolves!

    3. Or white scars! They'll probably do one for every major chapter

    4. Is the item I in the sprue some kind of Ultramarines manpurse or beltpack for those sunny days on the beach when there is something more than only war?

      Delete
    5. I believe item I on the sprue is a tilting plate, those small shields that sit on the edge of a shoulder pad next to the helmet. You see them on Terminator armour mostly but also on some power armoured marines too, one of the Space Marine Casualty set has one.

    6. Wow, sweet stuff. Too bad Assault Marines are garbage.

Unless the new Codex makes them super cheap or super amazing or super broken.

    7. Item I is on the backpack of the marine next to the apothecary.

  9. There are many artworks with titans and other Imperial forces.
There's an Emperor Titan fighting alongside Flesh Tearers in the artwork of Blood in the Machine. It doesn't mean we'll have a new Emperor Titan for Flesh Tearers.
