We have heard lots of rumors for the upcoming Dark Angel codex, and thankfully the time is closing in as we approach the halfway mark in December. Not too much longer now......... A visual on a new flyer and a quad engine land speeder are in this bit.

Please remember that these are rumors

So, I've seen a fighter that looks like a marine version of a Thunderbolt/Avenger crossover, and some quad engine land speeders with dorsal mounted plasma weapons and a gunners pulpit on the nose.

Well, the 2 planes I saw were:
Chin mounted gatling cannon (something like an Avenger cannon), with wing mounted missiles (pod mounted, in the same style as the Storm Raven).
Chin mounted wide-bore cannon the types of which I haven't seen before (but which looks like it'll be firing a high energy discharge), with wing mounted loads'o'bolters (hurricane bolter basically).

  1. Ooooh.... do we think it will be Dark Angel only?

Like the Stormraven for GK's and BA's.

    I hope not.

    1. You don't like to see the various Chapters get their own personalized gear? I know I do.

    2. It's a way of actually making different chapters different. Other than just tactical marines, then stubborn tactical marines, then furious charge tactical marines, etc.

    3. I understand why they do it, it's just a personal view that they should have marine vehicle variants rather than restrict a whole class of vehicle.

For example, I thought the Baal Predator was great as a BA only variant of an established vehicle but I was disappointed that the Stormraven was BA and GK only.

      Everyone's different, it's just my view :)

    4. Well the stormraven is a variant of an SM vehicle, the issue is that forgeworld makes the vehicle (storm eagle or w/e) so it basically is too expensive to consider existing XD

  2. I hope so! It would be nice to have something that every other army doesn't get for once.

  3. Shut up and take ma money!!

  4. it'll probably be available to at least two different armies to help boost sales. Not everyone will play a DA army so they need to widen the market to whom they will sell it to.

    1. The other "big" chapter without flyer yet are SW. Wouldn't it be strange to see a DA/SW kit? well no more than a GK/BA one...

    2. The first legion would never share proprietary tech with those dogs.So anti fluff the emperor himself would stand up and pump slap Ward for one upping Horus' Hersey

      Delete
    3. Haha, Dark Angels sharing tech with the Space Wolves is heretical, but Blood Angels and Necrons fighting together is cool? A shared kit between the two would be pretty far down on the list of things Ward has done against the fluff.

Sorry anon there's not much the first legion can do about it

    5. I'm highly doubtful that Space Wolves will ever get a flyer, most are claustrophobic (hence why most of them don't wear helmets) and have a fear of technology (hence they don't teleport
). In addition, flying is for the foolish blood claws.

      Delete
    6. there not claustrophobic the helmets kill there sense of smell and hearing SW dnt have a flyer because it goes is against what russ said about the subject

      Delete
    7. If they did have a flyer, it would be the blood claws. Since they have landspeeders, I wouldn't be too surprised. However, I would like it if the wolves never got flyers, but got some great anti air.

    8. Seeing as how it's GW's fluff, and Ward works for GW, they/he can change it however they see fit.

    9. All this talk of SW not having flyers creates very interesting logistical problems. Are you folks suggeating they don't use Thunderhawks? That they deepstrile onto planets with pods and then build elevators to get back to their SPACESHIPS? Really folks, stop trying to make 1000 or more guys just a like. Lol Does, And They Shall Know No Fear mean anything to you. They wouldn't be scared of a deamon, much less a dag nabbit flying contraption. Lol

    10. Here's the problem with getting all your 'fluff' out of a Codex. Actually read some SW novels and you'll find that they DO teleport and they DO have flyers. As a SW player I find it ridiculous that they can't teleport or have a flyer, it goes against the long-standing 'fluff'. Of course I'm not saying they enjoy teleporting, but who would?..

      Delete
    11. Read Thousand Sons they use Thunder hawks and I think others in the novel and yes Leman Russ is transported by flying .

  5. Thats what Allies are for.....
Fantasy has been producing single army plastic kits for Ages

    1. That's true, now that we have allies there is no reason to give things to all armies.

  6. I remember hearing back that there were tons of rumours saying Dark Angels will share a kit with Black Templars, hopefully its these

  9. Blood angels and dark angels have both tasted the taint of chaos they will be Abel to share tech becuase there both fighting for retribution

  10. Im pretty sure most chapters owe the Black Templars some new vehicle design for sharing the STC of the Land Raider Crusader so I really hope this new flyer is a dual kit for DA and BT..

    ReplyDelete

    1. Templar are foot soldiers. I can see them getting some broken AA tech as an alternative but not really air support

      Delete
    2. Templars may prefer CC but they're also sons of Dorn, siege master of the Imperium and probably have the oldest and biggest astartes fleet, I wouldn't be surprised if BT had a flyer at all and it is fitting with their fluff

      Delete
    3. Dorn was master of fortifications.... Horus and the Luna Wolves were the masters of Siege warfare. The Emperor himself did decree

      Delete
    4. ...and Perturabo was both.

      Delete
    5. The Luna wolves would have decimated the iron warriors at the height of both legions.

Perturabo may have been a more balanced tactical leader but would have been held off and pushed back by Dorn and met headlong and crushed by Horus

      Delete
    6. Fail MrGutierrez!
      Epic fail! Lolz!
Perturabo beat Dorn at the Imperial Palace, then again with a quarter of the troops at the Iron Cage..
As to Horus? On the open field, perhaps, but not in siege or trench warfare.. Even the 'loyal' Primarchs Roboute Girlyman and Sanguinius both begrudgingly admitted a fortress designed, built and defended by Perturabo would be well nigh unassailable..
      Sorry, lol

  11. Why not just buy any kiuts you want and paint them any colours you want? I know some tournaments don't 'allow it' but its your hobby. I plan a ravenwing storm raven backed up by 2 ravenwing storm talons plus any new cool stuff!

  12. Section from Ravenwing:

As the Land Speeders circles the compound, darkshrouds followed the Descent. Modified from the standard LandSpeeder Chassis, each anti-grav vehicle carried a pitted, ancient statue from the Chapter's fortress-monastery. The solemn Hooded figures glowed with power, coils of cable sending nescent warp energy through arcane generators that threw out an all-concealing blanket of darkness. As they joined the attack, the shadows of the darkshrouds enveloped the dropsite, obscuring the thunderhawks as they touched down on plumes of plasma.....
.....Above them, a flight of three Dark Talons took up stations, pouring a torrent of fire from their hurricane bolters into the rebels trying to muster on the broken ramparts of the walls. A flight of Nephilim fighters swept over the compound, their Avenger weapons systems raking the open space between the wall and inner citadel with explosive bolts while blacksword missiles streamed from their wings, turning the courtyard into a killing ground.

There is even more stuff in the book later on. Attack bikes with Lascannons, Tactical squads with AutoCannons and such. Its a great read. Nearing the end now myself.

  14. There was this rumor about a DA flyer with a transport capacity for 10 Terminators / 20 PA Marines ... I think that THIS would make perfect sense to be shared with BT ...

    ReplyDelete
  15. i have seen that aswell

    its on the interweb
a conversion some dud made of the stormtalon with bitz from punisher tank.

    NOT A NEW MODEL

  16. The Storm Eagle has that transport capacity...

  17. My opinion: 6th edition Dark Angels are going to be all about Ravenwing. Most DA players already have a lot of Death Wing already. To sell models, I expect some very good stuff on the Raven side of things. That and rumors like this seem to be pointing us in that direction.

  18. I like the idea of the Dark Angels have specially kitted out Land Speeders, but I really don't want them to have a plane they are hoarding all to themselves.

It seems silly to me, but then, I still don't think space marines should be getting aircraft fleets in the first place really, flying transports is one thing, they need to be able to move forces around, but fighter craft is a job for the Imperial Navy, Roboute Guilliman must be rolling in his stasis field at this defiance of the codex astartes.

    1. The united states marine corps have their own flyers. Granted, they aren't Astartes, but the role is the same.

  19. One random question about the rumored Dark Angel release date in general. If pre-orders are supposed to go up on the 28th to coincide with the release of the January White Dwarf, then we should be seeing leaked pics around the 21st to confirm if this is the pre-order date correct?

Also is there precedent for an early January release on either of GW's platform (jw?
