Here is a little bit of information regarding Dark Angel terminators and knights. Its only a little bit and apparently was taken from the White Dwarf which is apparently also released in other countries like Finland.

I am definitely looking forward to seeing this codex

From a source that wants to remain anonymous
Deathwing Knights
WS5
T5 when packed in close together
Smite
A one use ability and only lasts one turn
may select a Land Raider as a Dedicated Transport

Deathwing Terminators
1 terminator for every 5 may upgrade to the following weapons
heavy bolter
plasma cannon
assault cannon
cyclone missile launcher
can take a land raider as a dedicated transport

Dreadnoughts and Venerable Dreadnoughts are both an Elite Choice. A venerable dreadnought is simply a vehicle upgrade in the codex entry.

  1. "T5 when packed in close together" this sounds a bit odd. Gw should make a special rule for this.

    1. Probably something like "If all models are b2b they are t5", not like my Kabalite warriors care ;)

      Delete
    2. maybe something like a shield wall order from warmachines...

      Delete
    3. Makes them much easier to hit with pie plates though...

But it seems like they keep getting better and better the more we hear. Im starting to think around almost 50 points a base.

      Delete
    4. I'm not too worried, I still need 2's to wound with plasma weaponry.

      Delete
    5. @ JayDee. I have been told from my source that they are 45pts base, upgrades are varied from being free in cost to 50pts

      Delete
    6. "Oh no, T5 when close together, it's horrible"

Said no Plasma cannon ever. lol

      Delete
    7. How are they not 50/piece when twc are

      Delete
    8. Because they are so much slower than TWC? Being good in CC is worth less if you can't get there before turn three or four.

      Delete
    9. Well iirc Mutilators are 50ish points. Yet these DW knights seem a lot better for less....

      Delete
    10. Can't get there before turn three or four? Sounds like you're assuming no one will ever deep strike Deathwing...

      Delete
    11. It's all relative really. Mutilators have more versatility, can be T5 base, 2 wounds, etc.

They do suffer from a common Chaos affliction - no 3++

      Delete
    12. 3++ is totally stupid anyway and shouldn't be in the game IMHO ;)

      Delete
    13. It is odd when a Greater Daemon is considered to have a worse save than a Marine in Termy armour. I still think SS should go back to 4ths 4++ only in melee or maybe even a 3++ only in melee.

      Delete
    14. I agree with 6:40 anon. 3++ should only be in melee at the most. I mean DE Wyches only get a 4+ save in melee, and that's a balance to their normal T3 and 6+ armour save. Termies having a T4 and 2+ armour save, as well as having a 3++ with Str 8 AP 2 hits at all times is a bit ridiculous.

      Delete
    15. And that's why Termies cost a truck load more than Wyches.

No, they shouldn't soften them. Not every army should have access to the same stuff. That would make the game LESS realistic than it already is. Balance doesn't exist anywhere in the real world, and it won't in fantasyland as long as there are different flavors to choose from.

      Delete
    16. That's dumb. Balance is SUPPOSE to exist in the gaming environment. What makes it a competition is the people playing and luck. this is the same for EVERY game, sports included.

Sports are completely balanced, no one has any rules advantage over anyone else. Other games (mostly non TT and even some of those) offer balance, that is why people play games is for a fair chance to win. No one should HAVE to pick a certain army or specific build for their chance to win.

I'm not advocating that everyone should have the same army and same models, but at least that would be fair. No army selection and list building are a part of 40k and are part of the game. But if the answer to "what is a good counter to your opponents list?" is "a different army than what you play", then the game is broken.

Not every unit is going to be great and not every army deserves a 2++ for balance. Every army does deserve a chance to win, and not by shenanigans (unless that is the army theme) but by being a good player, and not just picking up your Fav. Ward Dex. so you can faceroll.

Honestly why would you even play something that you knew your opponent had no chance? Is your ego that fragile? Are you that desperate for a win?

      Delete
    17. I just mainly have an issue with the fact that every marine army has terminators with 3++ saves, and will continue to do so. It's boring, and only marines get access to stuff like that, which is stupidly done.

      Delete
    18. yeah and chaos, the oldest of the old marines, don't even get storm shield thundernators. wut.
like the idea that no terminator with a hammer and shield ever has ever ever gone to chaos. not a single one. when entire chapters turn at once. mhmm.

sounds like nerf all over -.-
LR transport does nothing.... you got heavy slots but no points left -.-

      disapointing rules so far

      Delete
    2. Well as a DA player I would rather have the Plasma Cannon and if I am close enough to throw a template down I can crush them with my power weapons anyways.

      Delete
    3. Wait, this Codex is a Nerf? From what? The last DA Codex?

      Troll alert.

Seriously, so far the leaks all sound promising. And the Dedicated transports are always a bonus becuase you don't Have to take them. And of you are playing a DW army and want to take some other heavy support in a higher point game it is a boon.

      Let's be realistic here.

      Delete
    4. not trolling

dedicated transports is more like the standart you should give a dex... not some buff

sound like knights are a one trick pony under a bluemoon

standart termis are nerf becaus we lose the good old... like fearless or DW assault or flamers -.-

so what is good about these rules so far?
      i can´t see it
not comp dex... just fluffy at best

      Delete
    5. I just thought it was odd that there was AssCan and CML but no heavy flamer option. For all I know the source could have just forgotten to mention it.

      Delete
    6. You haven't been following the rumors apparently. Deathwing are supposed to have the ability to Deathwing Assault in Turn 1 OR 2 now.

If you aren't following the rules rumors closely or you are comparing it to a Codex other than the current C:DA you aren't adding to the discussion, you're just muddying it.

As a long term DA player (18 years)I welcome these changes. It'll be nice to have some options to bring to the table.

      Delete
    7. I thought I saw on another thread here that there is a type of DW assault where you can choose to drop on turn 1 or 2. Sweet in my book.

Fearless is nice but ATSKNF is almost the same and Termies typically win combat in my experience.

The Knights sound good to me so far and I haven't seen the Book yet. Their one trick will destroy any Heavy on the table in one turn, easily.

Losing the Flamer is not great, and that is if he just didn't forget it, but adding a Plasma Cannon is big in my book. 36" 7s 2ap small template is better than a Flame template even with its ability to assault.

But I am looking at it from a long time DA player that doesn't play other SM Codexes. So I am still very excited about this.

But then again every new book goes through the exact same thing everytime. In order; Excitement-Doom-Flaming-Remorse-Acceptance-Excitement when everyone learns how to play with the new Codex instead of trying to play the same way as the old Codex.

      Delete
    8. @ nick

well you can´t DS youre whole army just 50% due to BRB rules... not very potent

ofc i have to compare to the top dexes SW & GKs and not to the 8 year old book.

I do expect the pointcost to be corrected for termis (as rumored)to be more in line with BAs. Wich would make cyclon and th/ss less good!

i´m worried to be stuck with a mediocre weak-sauce dex for the next 8 years

wouldnt be the first time GW wrights a crappy dex

      Delete
    9. Wow....no codex and vague rules and people can already ascertain if this is a good codex or not? Unbelievable even for gamers....lol

      Delete
    10. As soon as it was revealed thar the author wasn't Matt Ward people started complaining. I wonder why...

      Delete
    11. Which is odd as I thought they were already complaining that it WAS Matt Ward. Guess they wanted cheese over flavor, whatever.

How is the Anon complaining about lack of fearless when they have ATSKNF? Don't ever complain about anything leadership related when you play marines, just don't, you sound whiny and stupid.

      Delete
    12. Well I own both the O&G and Skaven Codexes and even though neither of them are a Matt Codex they are both well balanced books where most of the units are viable and very fun to play with.

In other words it is not going to be an uber spam 1 or 2 units codex and it will be a fun book for both players. I don't want a Matt Codex and find my games to be more fun when I am playing against a non Matt Codex.

Not saying I am an anti-Matt player but I am going to not compare this codex to Matt's most famous mistakes. Maybe they pulled Matt off SM Codexes becuase he can't help himself from trying to out do his last codex.

      Delete
    13. And yet there was also alot of people complaining when the rumours said it WAS Matt Ward. Some people just can't be happy which seems to be the trend around the forums recently. There are alot more 'that guys' roaming around than usuall

      Delete
    14. Nerf?NERF?

You're getting Terminators with Plasma Cannons.

Thats right, Terminators you can rely on to shoot something to death like you can rely on Assault Terminators to crack open units.

And hell, if the other rumour is to be believed, they can splitfire.

      Delete
    15. soo?
you can get 4 plas.c in a dev squad and they still suck

these mini changes of opening weapon options don´t do anything caus the option suck

      Delete
    16. Plasma cannons suck? What game are you playing? Lol. Plasma cannons are better than they ever where before. AP 2 now has an effect on vehicles and no armour can withstand it. S7. Ok the gets hot can prove a problem one out of six shots. Sotty but this seems like a bit of trolling to say that one of the best weapons in the game "suck".

      Delete
    17. yeah best vs sm termis ect. but not against horde or vehicles still
and very expensive to field... not worth it
or els we would see people winning left and right with plas spam
      and we are not

      Delete
    18. @Anon 11:18am Yes you can DS your entire army. The only thing that requires you to have 50% on the board is when you're bringing in squads from reserve. Specifically holding things in reserve and walking them onto the board. The only Deep Striking unit that requires at least half of them to be brought on the table at the start of the game are Drop Pods. The "Deep Strike" rule itself circumvents the "50% army on board at start" rule written into the "Reserves" rule. If you don't believe me, read the rules carefully, it's right there on the page.

      Delete
    19. @Annon...wish I was playing were you do... lots of plasma spam here in the North East...lol...and it does good. Especially with the meta switching from vehicle spam to horde foot lists. I think Dark Angels will usher in even more plasma spam than I have been seeing. Plasma is the new melta wich of course was the new plasma...lol...what was old is new again

    21. Ok, so I got flustered by the large amount off spelling/gramatic mistakes, but please refrain from calling people ridiculous names..?
On topic, I feel that perhaps there was a misread/misprint somewhere there.. since when do termies ever get heavy 'bolters'..? I think that line perhaps was meant to read heavy flamers..
On the subject of the 'author' and the power level/competitive shenanigans... I, for one am glad to see the back of Matt Ward as lead on, well, anything. I hope people do realise that codices are written by a /team/ not just the individual credited. There are also a bunch of other considerations.. GW frequently (if not always) has a habit of making models first, rules later. This ks part of the reason we so often see such cool minis (WarpTalons I'm looking at you on the shelf next to Mandrakes), with terrible to poor rules...then, a codex or edition later, we see the rules improved or brought into line, or points dropped, or simply a new edition making units viable again.
The so-called 'author' of any given codex, is actually just a lead developer. Yes, they are the primary individual responsible for the final ruleset, but they are not the only contributor. Matt Ward has difficulty filtering bad ideas from good when it comes to power levels. Phil Kelly (all hail) does have his issues too..he tends to take the heirarchy at face value when they give instruction, and submits to the ordered 'nerf', points drop, points raise, etc that most complain about. It would seem that our esteemed DA 'author' has more clout, more maturity in filtration of ideas, and also a sense of fun and 'fluff'. Wait and see boys and girls. No, not everybody will be happy. Some it will be under-powered, others 'bad fluff', etc... But I can tell you one thing.. this next 'dex, next to the chaos one, will give you a very good idea as to the future direction of GW and 40k...
      /end rant

Maybe you should reread the rules!
The 50% counts for everything but Stuff that MUST DS. Termis CAN DS... Its Not Must for them.

      @ melon
Sure it can be Good if everybody Plays Marine SPAM! But how Good is a Plas.c vs Nids Orks IG or Flyers? Plas.guns is a diffrent Thing and somewhat Good. But the blast is Not that Great!

      Delete
    23. Eh, plasma is good against AV 10/11 which nobody should be taking anymore except on flyers... Las/Melta is where it's at if you need anti-vehicle.

      Delete
    24. >Which nobody should be taking anymore

Clearly you don't play against Dark Eldar.

      Delete
    25. Mortechai that's not true. You can only have 50% of your army in reserves at any time. It doesn't matter whether they're deepstriking, or coming in on your table edge. The only exception is flyers.

    26. @Annon 636... I agree to disagree then. Too bad we can't roll dice to solve this debate.... always a favorite choice of mine in such disagreements. :)

  5. "1 Terminator for every 5" Does that mean squads of 5-10?

I hope for DA fans everywhere that's the case. Not fair us "vanilla" lot getting squads of 10 and they don't.

    1. Previous rumors say that squads of 10 were used in the battle report.

    2. Yeah, the basic unit size for both normal and knight terminators is 5, and then you may add up to 5 extra.

      -pantsukki

      Delete
  6. The rumour source needs to get their eyesight checked, the first Terminator option is still a heavy FLAMER. HF, PC and AC are replacements for storm bolters, but CMLs can still be taken by all! TH/SS option now costs 5pts.

Knights aren't super expensive, a unit of five costs 235 points. Though not sure if they're worth that, as they might struggle against 3+ and 2+ saves in close combat.

One of the elite options is still the generic "Company veterans squad", so I guess no Sternguard/Vanguard.

    Sadly Sammael's sword is only S=user, so a measly 4..at least it's AP2.

All info from the WD, which is indeed available in Finland.
