Just to be clear, this came out when I was in the middle of my move, so it was missed on my end. I wanted to make sure that people did not miss it, because it has some very interesting rumor bits, including the Ork Wave, a certain Dark Eldar flyer I have been wanting, and mention of tyranids (please I want to see them on the tabletop again).

These came out on the 9th, but hey its the weekend, and its catch up time. Please do not forget that these are rumors.

Here's the latest out there on the grapevine regarding both Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000 in the months ahead.

via the little birdies:
Q1
Late-December-January: Dark Angels
February-March: Chaos Daemons (still LOTS of chatter of a synchronized release of 40k/WFB Daemons books like Games Workshop did last time)
March: 40K Miniatures Wave ALPHA (see below)
Another Hobbit release wave is in this quarter as well.

Q2
April: Warhammer Fantasy Armybook
May: Tau Empire
June: 40K Miniatures Wave BETA (see below)

40K Miniatures waves are said to be:
Ork wave: with buggy, wartrack, updated Battlewagon, coptas, flashgitz, and tankbustas
Flyer wave: with: Eldar, Tau, Tyranid, Dark Eldar kits
The order of those two waves is in contention, but both keep coming up in chatter.

WFB Army books for 2013 are said to be "pointy ears and 8-pointed star" variety.

  1. Well I hope I have painted my csm completely until then.. or my daemons. Would want some of those new tyranid models, I'm sure they'll look awesome. Maybe even a spore kit?

  2. I'm guessing the DE flyer wave just means a model for the Voidraven and not a completely new unit?

    1. Most likely it'll be the Voidraven.

    1. You mean other than the box of 5 from Dark Vengeance(3 autoguns, 2 auto pistol and cc weapon) for $10msrp thats been out for a bit now? Unfortunately I think that will be all there is at least for awhile. You can try kitbashing IG Cadians or Catachans with marauders, idk sorry.

    2. They were released last month, silly-pants.

    3. Catachans and green stuff, friend. Buy the catachan battle force and then you'll have traitor guard as allies or cultists for your main force

    4. Or you could get 10 of what you want from ebay for$15

    5. Don't forget the resident source for conversion bitz for raving mad fanatics, ie. FB Empire Flagellants (multi-part plastics, midn you). If metal does not scare you away, then there are House Cawdor and Redemptionists from Necromunda (who have this robes and masks thing going on - that said, Scavvies, Ratskins, Pit Slaves and House Delaque are quite cult-looking as well), or Possessed Warband, Carnival of Chaos, Frenzied Mob, and maybe even the Witch Hunter Warband from Mordheim, too... combine these with bitz and pieces from said kits (Cadians, Catachans, Marauders) and you'll have a sinister cult in no time.

    6. I probably will just end up converting with stuff I already have. However if GW actually released a kit that wasn't just resold versions of the DV stuff (the copies of the models is noticeable enough with just a DV set).

    7. Find the Necromunda minis on the GW site. They're pretty ideal for Cultists.

    1. I thought the last wave was pretty good so I've got high hopes! It also follows the pattern of some things known, some unknown: necrons known/SM+Orks unknown vs DEldar+tyranids known/eldar+tau unknown
Anywho, looking forward these releases (mainly the orks though!)

  5. All sounds very good to me. Can't wait to see all that 2013 has to offer for 40K.

  6. These are really Old Rumors
    Anyone remeber Summer of Flyers?

  7. Man, was hoping for something cooler for Orks.

Flash gits are a terrible choice in the current codex until they get buffed because for 40 points/model they currently do nothing. Tankbustas have been improved now they they only have to shoot at tanks in range, not in LoS but the current models were made for 4th ed so I'm surprised to see them redone considering how easy they are to kit bash. Assemble a shootaboy, cut the gun off, glue on a piece of plastic tube. Ezmode.

  8. I think that the flyers would come out before the Tau codex especially is a tau fighter is supposed to be released. I think it would be a good chance for them to preview the tau and get people excited for the new codex. The only way I see them releasing the tau fighter late is to just sell the model.

  9. Wouldnt it make more sense to have the Tau flyer release when the book is? Which is supposedly soon.

    1. Agreed. Unless, of course, they are doing 2 different flyers, like DE (1 "ground attack" and 1 fighter), but again, it would make more sense, I would think, to release those models with the codex.

Only other thing would be if they have more models than they expected that they want to release for Tau (IE: recut existing stuff + whatever the new units are for the Codex) and they want to release the flyer(s) early to spread out spending on Tau stuff. This would prevent a huge spike in a single month that they might not be able to reproduce next year (unless they release a SM 'dex at the same time of the year).

  10. Anyone notice that Dark Eldar didn't get a Fighter Aces table in Burning Skies rules?

    1. It's uncharacteristic to give DE some love since 6E hit it seems.
