It is now being said that this pic was for a local stores display, but was quickly put up on GW's facebook page, and then taken down. Regardless if its real, relevant, or not, it is still an interesting find.

GW just put that picture up on their facebook and now I can't find it anymore, it is still up on their Flikr account at the moment... Can anyone tell me what the Nid thing with all the things coming out of its head just to the lright of the question mark is? I can't find any model that looks like it in their model range or on forgeworld. New Nid model hidden in plain sight?

I noticed the "Zoanthrope". Either its a conversion....or a Doom?
ReplyDeleteEither way...if its real, its GW officially "confirming" 6th ed this year
Thats a doom isnt it? so im guessing finecast doom on its way?
ReplyDeleteThey've also changed the background on the Whats New blog to a black background...
ReplyDeleteGood spot, could it indeed be, 6th out next month I wonder? makes perfect sense if you think about it, an expensive hard back back costing like £50 out right before the end of the financial year that nearly every 40k player needs, plus gives you a reason to make all codex's out after it in hard back also, even more money.
DeleteDalinair I pray to whatever Gods grant that truth, for 6th Edition to come so early and urgh /brain overload. But that model is the Doom or a conversion.
Deletethe Doom looks like a conversion to me. Looks like a Zoanthrope with the spines from the Mawlock added> you cqan see the Mawlock in the pic has the same spines on it head
ReplyDeleteCan anyone make out the words under the edition numbers/dates?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteDoes it say Ork war continues?
DeleteThey're using a real nasty font. The only two that I THINK I can read are 1st and 6th editions:
Delete1st: In the beginning.
6th: Change is coming.
Its most definitely a soon conversion made from a regular zoanthrope with spines from the trygon/mawloc. They added some of the arms from the mawloc kit as well.
ReplyDeleteDoom* not soon
DeleteIt looks Like the date next to six editions is 2012,and possible the words under it say somthing about dominence,Also if it got the 25th logos on it that puts it at end of this month or possibly the first week of march
ReplyDeleteIndeed, we thought it looks like 'daemonic' which i guess would tie in with the rumors of chaos
DeleteI think some funny guy put the picture up just to make some rumours...
ReplyDeleteWill see soon enough next week what's it gonna be. When the White Dwarf comes out!

Shame, was hoping it wouldn't just be another fake/diorama/tribute
DeleteWell hopefully six does come out next month, just in time for my b-day!, I know wat im getting myself now
ReplyDeleteThanks
ReplyDeleteAccording to the poster of the photo on flicker this is just a tribute set up. No real book.
ReplyDeleteThe question is still why did GW put it up on their facebook page.
Probably just to show some "fan art" I think its cool to have all that stuff as it is the the histroy of 40K. As for the book i believe it is fan made
DeleteI work for GW and we all have put up some kind of 25th anniversary display. Head office has access to alot of onsite bits n' bobs. Our store has done a similar thing with Rogue Trader & 2nd Ed. I wouldn't read too much into it, we have alot of NDA's at the moment, they wouldn't do anything quite so risky... People forget the staff are hobbyists too, we are all in the dark with exception to the design team - and they certainly wouldn't have given anything like this to the retail team!
ReplyDeleteWhat gw do you work at? Cause my local gw does not have to,
DeleteWe didn't have to, Its just we're all really excited! Its great just sharing memories with each other and our cabinet keeps growing due to contributions from other excited hobbyists. We love what we do and we are very lucky to be able to share it with others that feel the same.
DeleteI wanted me some 6th edition rules debating D:
ReplyDelete@ timber, i cant read the 1st word it begins with a C but it say's afterwards c_ _ _ _ _ _ is Damning
ReplyDeleteS***! Just when I find £20, they sell out of the 25th anniversary model online! Now I'm going to have to ... *expression of utmost contempt* ... go into my Local Gaming Store ... early in the morning ... and pray I get there before the ravaging hordes devour the remaining copies of this model!
ReplyDeleteNo offence meant to anyone who works there, but my LGS sucks... One guy, normally on a coffee break, and one small table to play games on.
actually maybe dawning
ReplyDeleteChaos is Dawning...
DeleteJust a suggestion.
Forget what I just said, looks more like Change is Dawning. At least then it wouldn't give anything away.
DeleteEven if it was, it's been verified that this is was done by a fan, and therefore not representative of anything regarding GW's release schedule.
DeleteI look at the pic and see it does centre around arrmageddon example all races on top. And 6th has lots holes in front. Maybe it might relate to updated terrain rules, maybe not. Picture not big enough for zoom.
ReplyDeleteFrom the photo poster (Also asked about the Doom conversion):
ReplyDeleteThe tags show the release dates of each edition plus a small comment for each one. 1987 "In the beginning", 1993 "first boxed set", 1998 "new races!", 2004 "first small rulebook", 2008 "the war continues", 2012 "change is imminent". The model you say is indeed my conversion for a Doom, it is a Zoanthrope with Mawloc antenae and Ravener talons. Photo soon. :)
Come on guys! A big question on the cover of the book? Its obviously fake as whoevers "shrine" this is doesn't know what the 6th edition cover will have so its just their interpretation. But GW puttting this on their face book probably means 6th is coming soon. :)
ReplyDeleteyet again, you have come up trumps - another leak!!!
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS NOT A GAMES-WORKSHOP-MADE DISPLAY.
ReplyDeleteAs posted several times in the above comments, the owner of the image is not affiliated with GW, and made this display simply as an act of fandom.
This does not point to the imminent release of 6th Edition in any way.
Hrud... and I too would like to know what is written on the placard :)
ReplyDeleteThis has gw all over it, and I like how every one who says they work at gw and knows its not real, all post comments as anonymous, bunch o trolls
ReplyDeleteI know we've established it's not GW made. I do though, find it odd that whatever that is, it's still in the plastic wrap.
ReplyDeleteWell establish to me that its not gw made? cause not one person on here can. Also theres gonna be a question mark over the art work cause gw is not going give away whats the starter set is going to include.
ReplyDeleteI'm more being sarcastic with that first sentence. Sorry, my online sarcasm isn't so good. That's why I'm pointing out it's wrapped in the factory plastic, because that seems like a little much for someone to do for a diorama, when there's so many other things you could do instead.
DeleteOf course, someone has about £50 and lots of time to waste making this diorama. Still plastic wrapped? Genuine. Surely no one is that sad.
DeleteAlso, the graphics on the cover look very professionally done to me. Either it's genuine, or there's a very sad graphics artist out there with too much time on his hands.
Goctha, yea no one would go to such an extent to make somthing like this. Also if this is some one making a diorama, why would they waste money on this and not buy models instead. Gw prices must not be to bad if people can afford to do this *cough* cough*. If you look closley in the reflection you can see Matt Ward writting the next codex to piss all he rest of the trolls off.
ReplyDeleteHaha i actually looked for that last part. Good one.
DeleteNever trust Retail's lies
ReplyDelete*excited as never*
ReplyDeleteHello guys. I would like to give you information about this picture. This is a photo taken from a game store in Greece , called Fantasy Shop. The shop has a small diplay case which features all editions with some of the models released at the same time as each book. However , I too was shocked when I saw the book with the question mark on it and I asked the manager about it. He told me that it is a plain 5th edition rulebook with just a page glued on its front , to resemble a possible 6th edition codex...its nothing but a tease...sorry. Not a 25th anniversary thing , neither a 6th edition book.
ReplyDeleteAbout the zoanthrope-looking model, it is a Doom of Malantai conversion....nothing more than a zoanthrope with the antenae of a Mawloc glued on it..
I am really amazed how this little joke got so much attention....
