We have heard this through rumors before, but this time we have a copy paste section of a product brief sent to retail stores. It basically comes down to this, that Hobbit releases will not impact Warhammer or 40k releases, and will instead be on top of normal releases that are planned.

This is excellent news and comes from a product brief on the Hobbit Strategy game. Just to be clear, I have heard from certain sources as well (and could not release the info) that this was indeed the case, so this is very much written in stone and I consider this a verification of the rumor, and one I have been given permission to share.

I get to see product launch briefs when they come out and one thing jumped out at me from the hobbit product brief, I've pasted it below;

"We will continue to support Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 customers by launching new products every month. The Lord of the Rings releases historically replaced Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 sales. This time, any Hobbit releases are on top of our existing Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 plans."

So, to all the people who say "they should concentrate on 40k and not waste any months on LotR" can go to sleep happy as there will be a 40k/WFB launch every month next year and the hobbit will just be extras on top.

  2. Well they've given us crusade of fire which I'm really excited about but it seems most people are not :-/

    1. I'm wanting to do my own crusade, that's why I'm not excited about it.

If it was a supplement like Planetstrike, Spearhead, Cities of Death, Battle Missions or Apocalypse then I'd be more keen.

I'm pleased the Hobbit won't impact 40K. I've read the book four times, was the first book I read as a pup, but I've no interest in the board game. Beyond the odd miniature or two.

    2. I would be excited about crusade of fire, but it is sold out. Maybe if they did a second printing I could get one and then be excited. Or I could wait six months and get it on amazon.

    3. I got the book, and think some may be disappointed with it. I like it and it made me really want to do a campaign, but I think it could have had more in the way of missions. There's only a few in the book and the new rules aren't applicable to all games. However, some of the new flyer upgrades would be quite awesome to use.

  3. I like that. We can also use Nov/Dec releases to see how this is going to go. They did indeed release some 40k goodness along with The Hobbit. So; I am inclined to believe it as well. Keep in mind, strategies can and will change. It only takes 1 well worded sentence in a meeting to sway the thinking of a group. When they gather to create their year long strategy, lets hope things stay the same. Which usually would have already happened. Probably in Nov. /shrug

    1. Really????
What did they releas along with Hobbit that is WFB or40k???
As far as i know there will be no further releases in december.
And i dont think it will be more than Finecast REreleases in those Hobbit Months.

    2. They released a campaign book, and terrain. It may not meet your lofty overblown expectations, but it was techniquely a 40k release.

      so technicly Nov. not dec.

    4. Well there are the holiday megaforces, but in all reality in the 6 years I have been playing I don't think they have ever done a new release in Dec.

  4. Meh, merely red herring. With the current schedule the earliest model release we might get for 40k/warhammer is early Jan.

    1. Cut off mid sentence. WTF?
Anyway, I know I'm being quite cynical about this, but this would tie in very well with the release of DV Interregator Chaplain. Extremely cynical, but I honestly don't expect very much from this. Just look at this month. Crusade of Fire, new scenery. Crusade of Fire was cool, but I don't think GW will put out a book each month. They simply don't have the resources. New scenery? Meh, more imperial stuff. We really needed it. And that seemed like quite a large project as well. Quite frankly, I expect that to be the most we'll get each month except for a codex release now and again.

    2. You sound like a person who would not be satisfied with anything. They released 4 kits and a book, and you're mad because it was imperial stuff? It's scenery dude, you can use it for whatever, it's not like there's a shortage of Imperial Players anyhow... Something every month is better than what we had, and if it's at least the size of what we just got, I'm sure glad about it. Between white dwarf half waves, and codex full waves I think we'll be covered just fine. Try smiling instead!

  7. Great goods from you, man. I've consider your stuff prior to and you're simply too
fantastic. I really like what you've obtained here, certainly like what you're stating and the best way by which you say it.
You're making it entertaining and you continue to take care of to stay it wise. I can't wait to read far more from you.

  8. The thing is there is a difference between being able to release for 40K/Fantasy and LOTR at the same time, and wanting to do this or actually doing this. As a month this December is a bit of a turkey release-wise - i'm much more into 40K/Fantasy but LOTR / The Hobbit will get the limelight, and pretty much all the products and promos because GW want to capitalise on this and won't want another interesting release. GW resource doesn't come into this - they could have easily given us Dark Angels this month as well as The Hobbit if they wanted to.

  9. But what does this have to do with Dark Angels?

  11. With havin so much content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or
copyright violation? My website has a lot of completely unique content I've either authored myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my permission. Do you know any methods to help protect against content from being ripped off? I'd certainly appreciate it.

  13. The incomplete stack of 2012 WD's that made me believe my DA would be released this month speaks otherwise.

I bought COF and plan to pick it up tomorrow, but this month is all Hobbit. A blatant contradiction to this obviously false statement.

Oh, and I shop at a local FLGS were LOTR is actually pretty popular. No one seems to happy that they must purchase a $85 rule book replacement.

  14. Hmm, my White dwarf seems light on the 40k & awfully Hobbit centric for this supposed strategy. Sigh, how many codex releases in 12' again?

  16. When there is a 40k only WD and releases (which has happened pretty often in the past) I don't hear all this moaning from everyone. I play 40k, fantasy, lotr and wotr (which is btw a really good game) and so have all my bases covered rather than sit moaning and griping like a 6 year old who doesn't get their sweats!
As an aside, the plastic figures for the hobbit are ultra high quality and bode very well for all games. Personally I don't like many of the sculpts but the detail is outstanding.

  17. Off topic: 5th; a standard deamon prince needs a 3 to hit and 6 to wound a wraithlord. WL needs a 4 and 2. Would bet on the WL everytime. Enter 6th BRB. Monstrous Creatures get Smash. DP needs 3 to hit and 2 to wound. DP now has the chance to drop a WL before he can defend himself. Huge change! Enter 6th CSM codex, deamon prince are rediculous! Now they trash Avatars!

Mr. Kelly, if you are listening, I beg of you...write ;) this wrong!

P.S. Could ya also take a look at Wraith Sight...it kinda sucks ass and the 3+ sv for the WL is useless. Thanks!

  18. december is usually no release month.

November's holiday stuff is usually everything we see in december. Hobbit is free release on top of what we normally get as nothing.
