There are rumors going on that a large new model coming out will be a Monstrous Creature similar to a Dreadknight. However, in today's rumor we have a an actual walker rumor. Are these two rumors talking about the same unit? Who knows, it is quite possible that both are being playtested.

Here is the bit. Please remember that this is a rumor.

    4. The more I think about it, the more I think it makes sense that this might be the new states Broadsides. 2 hull points as with most squadroned vehicles? CHECK. Double Railguns? CHECK. Missile Pods? CHECK.

    5. Most prolific choice in the codex suddenly worse than it was before? CHECK.

    6. Most squadroned vehicles, except guard. Guard gets 3 or 4 HP and higher armor values because "Fuck you, we're Guard"

      Delete
    7. Have a gander at the guard codex no 4 HP vehicles and sentinels are 2 HP but it's ok I just wanted to error correct a little missinformation on the internet

      Delete
    8. most of their tank and fliers can be taken in sqadrons so he was right

      Delete
    9. i agree they can be taken as squadrons which is not at all the error i was correcting so what was the point of stating that? im trying to disarm mis information that leads to animosity twords the hobby i love so dearly. my only annoyance is when people dont research before speaking. if you own the sixth ed rule book you can fact check yourself. im tired of codex complaints. wound spam thunderwolves, krak attack war walker spam, and raider/wych mech lists. anything can be beaten with some thought complaining is easy thoughtless and hiding behind a pavis of angst and anonymity. 40k is a hobby filled with sacred cows no one will ever be happy. complaining does nothing except tarnish the hobby we all CONTINUE to pay thousands of dollars to play. so enjoy it dont attempt to take dumbfounded swings at people in an effort to pursue an argument

  4. I'd seen a Warseer post that implied this thing being more in line with the Dreadknight as a monsterous creature, honestly, don't really believe either of them.

    2. There's obviously another shoe waiting to drop here. No one would be that foolish as to make such a powerful weapon so impractical to use. Just look at the Daemon Prince from the Chaos Codex...

OH WAIT! Actually, this sort of thing happens...

    3. Markerlights being hot? Ha ha ha

    4. It's okay, Anon. You're allowed to be bad at Tau.

  6. Hastings has confirmed there is giant tau walker sized suit already, and in the rumor world, that is as 100% as it gets. It's stats... no idea. Shas'O Iceborn and Sticky tend to have their stuff down. I agree with Faeit, probably alternate playtests. We will probably see in April.

  7. I am getting annoyed that GW keeps releasing dreadnought type units for armies that are getting updated. I want something creative, A while ago I heard of a kroot monstrous creature that looks like a fantasy model.

I would rather have a new battle suit team that can deal assault 5 shots weapons a turn instead of a dreadnought that will die so quickly in 6th because of having 2 hull points.

And the insult is that if they did put this in the codex they would ignore how quickly it would die and make then really expensive for what they can do.

plus what is with these rumours saying every suit has rail guns? I want new weapons - we are tau are technology is superior, more guns!

oh and bs4 fire warriors please.

    1. I disagree with your annoyance, and am really looking forward to an IG update featuring a 25-foot guardsman MC.

    2. It's a double railgun on a killkan.
You don't want it? I'll take it <>

      Delete
    3. Rather than BS4 Fire Warriors, I'd rather have more marker lights. Say, mini-Tetras with two Marker Lights, or very cheap ML drones...

  8. Front armor 11 with only 2 hull points means it would never see the tabletop.

    2. Actually I've moved on to playing Tau competitively in tournaments. Even dreads were hit hard with the ill point rule. The now make excellent walking fire platforms. However, this is because of armor 12 or 13 depending on variant, and 3 hull points. With armor 11 and 2 hull points it would be considerable more fragile than a piranha. They are also armor 11, but moving flat out with a cheap disruption pod you have a 30 inch movement and a 2 + cover save. If this suit has two rail guns, it will be priced accordingly. It will be expensive, and it could be wrecked by a single heavy bolter shot. It's a terrible investment. Not to be an ass, but I. 5 and 1 in the last 2 weeks with my tau and I've been playing them since 3rd edition. I don't know it all, but I've got a pretty damn good handle on how they work.

      Delete
    3. Take a squad of them in a bastion, and suddenly their not so bad...

      Delete
    4. 75 pts for a bastion, and if these suits have rail cannons, not rail guns...your looking at 4-500 points for a full squad, when you consider a 3 man broadside squad is about 285 +75 with the bastion.
Given the high cost of the other base Tau units....I still dont see it as points efficient. AT this point, with no hard evidence on what the loadout will be, who the heck knows.

      Delete
    5. Apparently you've never played Eldar, Wolflord. Warwalkers have armor 10 and 2 HP apiece, and they're incredibly effective. There are means of keeping a unit alive other than giving it armor 14 and 4 HP. Often, being fragile is an advantage, as you can use them as hard hitting bait, and control your opponents fire priority with placement.

      Delete
    6. With disruption pod could be other thing

      Delete
    7. Forget Disruption Pods, these things can have full Stealth Fields.

      Delete
    8. I hope that interceptor/skyfire bit is true. What's that Necron Airforce? There are three of these on the board which get 3+ cover saves against your death rays?

      Mad?

  9. Is anyone else wondering about the differing nomenclature? I've seen railguns and rail rifles, but never a rail cannon. I've seen tau with missile pods, but not missile launchers.

    1. Railgun = Broadside
      Rail Cannon = Hammerhead
Rail Rifle = Pathfinder/Sniper Drone team

      Delete
    2. Are these the new rumor terms, because now broadsides and hammerheads both have railguns.

      Delete
    3. They're not new, and the rumors don't always differentiate. But as I've seen it this makes the most sense to me.

      Delete
    4. Currently, Rail Cannons are an Imperial Armour weapon that is S 'D'.

      Delete
    5. And please, Gw, WATCH CLOSELY THE TRANSLATORS!!

In last codex Tau, Rail gun and rail cannon were "rifle de INDUCCIÓN" and "cañón de INDUCCIÓN", so "rail" had continuity, but then "rail" RIFLE was rifle ACELERADOR... ?¿?¿?

      Delete
    6. Tyson, the Hammerhead entry gives them an option for a 'railgun' not a 'rail cannon'...

  10. 2 Strength D weapons with interceptor/skyfire on an 11 armor body with stealth?

I don't know if this is amazing or horrible.

    1. This.
Hopefully it'll feature some new weapons. Being able to put railguns, smartmissiles or seeker missiles make no sense. It should have something exclusive that makes it worth taking other than just being a cheaper, better broadside.

      Delete
    2. Well they did its in the script rail cannon not gun or rifle but a cannon my bet its heavy 3s 10 ap 1 or ordnance s7 or slavo or some that well impele a cannon profile

      Delete
    3. Wishlisting, wishlisting, here, here!

Wonder a kind of ION gun, similar to EMP grenades (it's a technology Tau already own AND thet the DEMIURG gave them, nice to introduce the new race) that allow you to immobilise vehicles... OR, with skyfire, get immobilized results on flyers and in fact destroying them... mayday, mayday, engine's out!... mayday, mayd...bzzzz

      Delete
    4. I kinda think the "cannon" is the middle ground between the gun, and rifle... maybe.

      48" S8 AP2 Pinning?

      Delete
  13. if it cost exactly the same as a broadside, ok. a point more and it will be one of those units where when you see it, you just sigh and think of what could have been.

    1. The other question is it competing with the 88s? What if its not a Heavy Support?

  14. Markerlights grant skyfire means we will be getting a skyfire markerlight. It's a simple as that. Not all of them but I'm sure skyray (SKYray) will be get a skyfire upgrade choice. Making the 2 markers on it skyfire/interceptor. Seekers will still be aloud to hit whatever but The markers will probably on be on the sky's.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The markers will probably only be on the skies*
Also I wanted to add that tau stealth is stealth and shrouded so thats +3, not +1 don't forget :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. On the one hand, Armour 11 + 2 HP = easy to kill. On the other hand, if it gets the usual Tau vehicle upgrades then the cover save that's usually 3+ and occasionally 2+ will balance that out somewhat.

    ReplyDelete
  17. AV11 doesn't rub well with the Tau. Even their transports and light skimmers are tougher than most.

However, if it's a stealth suit... Shrouded plus Stealth gives a basic cover save of 4+. It's one of the reasons I like Stealth Suits and Sniper Drones; stick 'em behind a bush or a tree and they're laughing with a 2+ cover save. Throw in nightfighting and it's trolltastic.

  19. I wish people would stop mentioning the Demiurg. When I was at the GW Studio Open Day at their HQ earlier this year, Jervis Johnson catagorically denied the return of Squats or Demiurg in the forseeable future.

    Unfortunate.

    ReplyDelete
  20. At least they're working on TAU!!!! But yes, disturbed at this development. A big suit like that, especially at AV11...not in my Army list. And the whole size thing is just so not Tau. I'll just spam XV88s instead.

Markerlight granting Skyfire? Interesting...except they don't have skyfire themselves, so you'd have to fire six of them to expect a result. Or just buy an Aegis etc.

GW, if you're reading this... just do the darn codex, and we'll cope with the units we've got. Fix the broken stuff.(Vespid, sniper drones, most of our old wargear.)Even just FAQ it. We've got wargear that's been broken for 2 editions now.
