Even though we are going to be seeing the image on the back of the White Dwarf Spine in the new Collectors Edition, I thought it would be beneficial to show the latest picture. Now what does it mean is the biggest question. After all we know its a Dark Angel, and we can see how far out it looks like its going to get us.

Is it a Dark Angels Codex or something else?

The image above is missing January, and was sent in by tyarlashan, and taken by Ron_Fury

  1. this image is one of the 4 "heros of the imperium" images that features in the collectors edition of the 6th edition rulebook.

considering this, and the fact that the complete image of the rulebook cover features both DA and CSM, i think its more concrete evidence to support those two being in the starter set.

  2. I'm going to guess that it's a countdown to the release of the DA codex. That would put its release 3-6 months out, as only 3-6 WDs are needed to complete the pic.

  3. for some reason my comment disappeared??

this is one of the images from the collector edition of the rulebook.

However considering this image is featured on the WD and the full image from the cover of the 6th ed rulebook is of dark angels and chaos, im gonna say that the rumours around the starter set are true, its DA and CSM

  5. The dark angel pictured on the spine of the white dwarf magazines is the same dark angel as pictured on the leather(ish?) bound collector's edition of the 6th edition rule book.

An example is on page 6 of the July White Dwarf.

Whether the same art will be used on the Dark Angel's dex or not I can't guess, but that's at least one place the picture has shown up other than the magazine.

  8. Have you noticed the massive amount of Tau art in all of the videos? As a tau player I am excited to see what they have manipulated in the codex.

    1. it could also be that everyone wants your railguns as an allied detachment. I know they have hurt me enough through a good number of games.

  9. Could be they're just parading some of the legions, starting with The First.
If they are doing the first founding then they've got a plan until well into the next decade.

  10. I think and hope that the picture is a countdown to a DA codex release.
The full picture was in one of the 6th ed teaser videos, from that picture I think we can guess 3-6 months til the release

  12. Well the image should be finish for the December issue, which is release end of November, which I would think the DA Codex if that the plan, for January. But that's pure speculation...

Makes you kinda wonder though, what they have planned for the Starter Set...

  13. If january is missing id say there's 4 more wd to complete it, with the last one being the release month of the dark angels codex, which i count as november.

Or more likely announcement in the november wd, and the codex late jan

  14. Meanwhile in Germany the images on the spine are totally fucked up because three of them don't align to the rest.

  15. this is gonna be the starter set I guess. DA in there and its due in 3 months.

  16. Dont know if it is relevant to anything but 6th edition anymore. its the same image on the 6th edition collector's edition box. May not be a hint to a DA release at all

  17. 'Pink Plasma' just for the Special Marines. ^.^

  18. Correct me if I'm wrong but this image was also repeated in the fold out art as part of the 6th edition collectors rulebook. There are four images of various space marine champions. One is Marneous Calgar I think so I can only assume we must have Azrael here.

  19. Cause it's just too much to ask for a little bit of chaos :(

on a side note- if GW didn't want to invest in armies that noone plays, in the grim darkness of the 41st millenium there are only marines. In 31 flavours.

  20. Its Azrael from what I can see, should be interesting...

  21. Yep, I think its Azrael, with the plasma, and if theres gonna be a power sword. Or if this is now the generic load out of DA's, which means they would be cheaper than 15 points a pop (fingers crossed)
