  1. you are doing a great job Natfka

Grey knights giant nerf, happy to see that

have people heard anything about how halberds +2I would work with the unwielding rule? do grey knights get I1 or I3? I1 would leave them in the same strange position as my Wolves frost blades so I would expect I3 but...

    1. Take a look at the "unusual force weapons" rule (right under the main force weapon entry).

Nemesis force weapons have their own special rules, therefore these rules do not apply to them aside from them being AP 3.

  3. "...if a force weapon has its own unique close combat rules treat it as an AP3 Melee weapon with the additional rules and characteristics presented in its entry"

I guess force halberds have their own unique rules so they now become AP3 melee weapons with +2I...? or not :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It says under the force axe that halberds are also included under those rules.

      Delete
    2. Yes if you have a halberd with no additional rules but gk halberds has

      Delete
    3. What if the gk errata though says halberds are str +1, initiative 3, ap 2 power weapons. That would go a loooooong way towards balancing them. Still make them better than normal axes, and remove the initiative advantage like they did with furious charge screwing BA...

      Delete
    4. i think it says: if it says force weapon with no specification=> look at model, otherwise it is what it says it is

      Delete
  4. Codex overrules main rulebook. IE;

Grey Knights Force Weapons, having their own unique rules are AP3 and use their own rulesets as opposed to the BRB, so Staffs are AP3 and 2++. Halberds are AP3 and +2I, Swords are AP3 and +1 to Invul and so on.

Same would be true for I presume the Space Wolf Rune Priest staff, and any other Force Weapon that has it's own rules.

    1. Oooh that mader me look stupid

Rune priests still cant kill anything in cc so that doesnt matter

its the frost axe thing that haunts me, its the same points as power fist and equal to it in every aspect but strength

      Delete
    2. I agree with Anon's interpretation above. It won't be too much of a nerf, and the units they were good against before they will still be good except terminators. Blood Angels are still screwed :(. I have a BA Libby with force axe that I will never use now (no invulnerable save IC with I1 = DEAD). Guess I'll be using that as counts as force sword

      Delete
    3. This is how I read it too. My GK Librarian has a Nemesis Force Halberd, not a generic Force Weapon. My BA Librarian has a Force Weapon, which looks like a Stave (it's the default SM Librarian). My other BA Librarian has a Force Weapon which looks like a sword, so I guess he gets those bonuses.

Nothing to freak out about here

    4. It would be a shocker if GK got nerfed, really, they are so weak now *WINK* - anyway, I am pretty sure we can expcet some codex errata to go with this book :) even though tyranid and forth dex'es are said to be compatible with version 6, I don't really think they anticipated exactly what it would be like.

      Delete
    5. I agree that they won't nerf grey knights that much making all thier force weapons AP3 I can see nemesis force swords and falchions as ap 3 but the rest might be AP2, but I am only guessing just have to wait for the Faqs for the codexes.

      Delete
    6. To mathias. Frost Axes are power weapons with unique rules. They will be AP3, with their normal Str bonus, and no initiative mod. They are better than any normal power weapon, still. (That is, if you consider i1 to be a deal breaker.)

Additionally, rune axes also have unique rules, (psychic hood) so, they will be AP3 with no str or I mods.

  5. Then power mauls are supposed to have concussive too, don´t they?
I don't know if that's good or bad to my chaos terminators...

    1. What about all the chaos terminators that have chain axes still? What are those? do we consider them Power Axes?

      Delete
    2. What im curious about is what happens with units that can have power weapons but no actual weapons? I.E. Possesed CSM that roll a 6 for power weapons for thiere squad.

      Delete
    3. I am pretty sure this is referring to Force Weapons specifically, not all power weapons, but it will only be a couple days till we see.

  6. I love that Lightning Claws get the USR 'Specialist Weapon' but force weapons don't! For give me if I'm wrong, but there is significantly more training involved in using a Force Weapon, such as becoming a psyker, for one! :)

'Shred' USR on claws too. New name for rending?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Whats specialist and shred, i have never heard of those before

      Delete
    2. For re rolling to wound I would say

      Delete
    3. I would guess shred is reroll to wound and Specialist is you only get +1 attack for addtional CCW if its another lighting claw

      Delete
    4. Specialist is confirmed from reddit as a weapon which does not get bonus attacks for say pistols, thats why force is not specialist

dark eldar gave birth to a daemon god, have daemon hybrids. So its not a huge stretch to have them allies. At least, that's what I think anyway.

    5. That doesn't bother me nearly as much as tau and codex space marines being bb level. Please tell me that "emperor deemed taught key to fighting chaos and charged ultramarines to protect them during the heresy but everyone forgot till now" isn't going to end up being legit...

Think they will have to remain on the shelf until they get a new codex... as I don't want to be forced into 'Allies'

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Overwatch only applies if the unit is being charged, and it's only BS1. It's not like everything in range is getting free extra shooting at them. I mean, yeah, they'll get a turn after they deepstrike in to shoot them up, but that's no different than now.

  10. So with force swords only being AP3, terminators are going to be much better against my Thousand Sons... great they weren't beating my face in enough.

Does this mean that I can just change my model's force weapons to be axes instead of swords and i get +1 ST and AP2 (with In reduction of course)?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, not if its not legal in codex, its like saying is it ok for me to call my bolters Meltaguns

If its legal to buy in codex, why do you ask?

      Delete
    2. I believe that the sorcerer comes with a force weapon not force sword, so the rules say I should look at the model to tell which kind of weapon it has. Therefore if I use the chaos sorcerer model with the sword it has a sword, if i use the model with the axe it has an axe, ect.

      Delete
    3. if GWs official modell can have both then you can choose, if it has only one of them you cannot choose

      Delete
    4. So basically, hobbyist wont be able to change or modify the look of their model's close combat weapons anymore unless the codex or model kit gives you the option?

      Delete
    5. but of course they can :P but you cant just strap on any old weapon you find and play by that rule

you have to call it "counts as power sword" if you have a power axe

how is this hard to understand? whats different from 5th? in all editions I have heard of and played you could never just modify a modell and use that weapon rule :S?

      Delete
    6. Because now it says look at the model to see what it has while in 5th it said nothing of the sort. WYSIWYG was more of a 4th ed thing, now they seem to be re-introducing it.

      Delete
    7. nothing has changed, what they say with that sentence is that if the your codex say you have a power weapon named "Haxaflue" (Im sorry if this means something bad in some language) then you dont know wether its a spear or an axe or what, and in that scenario you can look att GWs modell and see that it is a say Axe

in your case thousand sons sorceres (which I have no knowledge of) seems to be represented with 2 possible models, hence you can choose whatever, but you can only choose from axe or sword, not anything else

      Delete
    8. Ah, okay that make sense, I guess I am just really slow today

      Delete
    9. Yes you can if the Codex says Power WEAPON. You can put whatever type on there you like. Axe, Sword or Staff. They're supposedly balanced enough that the points cost would be the same.
And no it's not like saying your bolt guns are melta guns. A bolt gun would cost maybe 1 point on some models but a melta gun is 10 points generaly. A power weapon is a power weapon.
It only matters when it comes to special power weapons like Nemesis weapons or Relic blades, etc.

    5. wow, How many Ork boyz have axes. that is a lot of I1 attacks

      Delete
    6. Orks don't have Axes. They have Choppas or Big Choppas. Which have their own rules in the Ork Codex.
And orks are I2 or I3 on the charge so an Initiative dump wouldn't be such a big deal anyway.

      Delete
    7. Ok my bad. They just count as close combat weapons. I may have been thinking of Fantasy Orcs.
So maybe the rule will effect them.
That coudl get really confusing. =/

    8. guess what people, gk arent nerfed. we carry nemesis force weapons. This is very different from force weapons. These items have their own rules and as stated each of our weapons are ap3 unique weapons with additional abilities like deamonbane and the other attribute listed for each weapon. force weapons dont give deamonbane or +1 invul so no nerf on GK after all.

AP2 shooting: plasma-all, lascannon, demolisher, rod of covenant, heavy gauss cannon, pulse laser, star cannon...

AP1 shooting: Melta, focused heat ray, tachyon arrow, spinret rifle, fusion weapons

AP2 CC: Rending, Powerfists, Thunderhammers, negate armour weapons like lelith...

people who show up with terminator spams and thinks the game is over is going to have a bad time

    2. You forgot Doomsday Cannon and Death Ray to ap1 but i know you were jist giving examples :)

    3. Also DEATHSTRIKE MISSLE LAUNCHER!, and Gravitation beamer, and Rail gun

      Delete
    4. i left many out because there are just soooo many things

also, due to the new "Focus fire" you can catch terminators off guard, say a squad of 5 terminators has 3 in cover and 2 out of cover, then I focus the two out of cover, they still get their 2+ save so no biggie there, but!...

i throw away say 20 bullets at 2 terminators for 2+ rather than 5 terminators :P which makes them die of statistics

"in the grim dark future, warriors only die of statistics and 8th degree probability wave-functions"

      Delete
    5. Ummm... If you throw 20 bullets at 2 or 5 terminators wouldn't the results be the same? If they fail a save it's a dead terminator either way. Doesn't matter how many you're shooting at. All you'd be doing is limiting yourself to killing two terminators instead of more if your rolls go well and theirs don't.

Only way it would make a difference if it was a multi wound squad like Paladins or Mega Nobs. So they can't do any fancy wound allocation. Which we still haven't really heard much about yet.

    1. Yes, because it's got the same list along each axis.
It's just the nature of such a chart to BE symmetrical <.<

  24. lol terminators vs Gks. Paladins will still mop the floor with any other terminators. Psycannons vs TH/SS late homies. Psychotroke+Rad+Stormbolter assault weapon+I6 halberds+psycannons+staves to eat you're hammers. Going to get mashed.

  25. Except th/ss terminators are 2+ vs halberds and 3+ vs the 1 or two hammers in the paladin squad meanwhile, the paladins are only 5+ against the hammers except for the one dude with a staff you are going to get doubled out so the extra wound you paid for doesnt help, you dont get fnp against instant death and you are going to take too many wounds for one dude with a staff to stop them all. The reddit post already confirmed one guy with a 2+ isnt going to protect a whole squad. Etween the two, my monies going on the thss trmies in 6th edition
