    3. SoB with Necrons, Dark Eldar with Imperial Guard and Black Templars, Chaos Space Marines can't have Necron allies, but Necrons can have CSM allies.

Brilliant. I don't mind most of these, but there are some obvious Ward moments whether it was him or not.

Also, Tyranids entry makes me laugh. NONE! I'd still take IG with them for a Genestealer Cult. If anyone says no to that, you're a terrible person.

    4. Surely necrons could use some kind of tech control on nids, what about chaos and genestealer cults. Darkangels and orks seriously no thanks.

  2. And why can DA and SW pair up? They're rivals!

    ReplyDelete

    1. They may be rivals, but they are still forces of the Imperium. Its a bit more believable than Space marines allying with Necrons.

      Delete
    2. Eh, Necrons will basically ally with anyone that aren't ancient mortal enemies, or beings that exist entirely in the warp, so long as they deem it tactically advantageous. Imperium will typically keep from murdering xeno's long enough to kill chaos or 'nids.

What weirds me out is that SoB can't ally with BT. But those guys who slaughtered an entire convent of Sisters just to bathe in their blood? Sure. They seem like cracker-jack fellas.

    3. Whoops, my bad. Sisters and Templar are homies after all. At least they aren't following that Doubles tournament chart exactly.

  3. Welp. My two armies can actually ally (level 2, I'd guess) Necrons and CSM. I like my necrons more for the moment. Alas, not a ton of synergy between noise marines, lash prince, and necrons.

    1. Doesn't sound right to me either.

Black Templars fluff wise abhor the alien so wouldn't be seen dead with any non imperials, it's their thing I thought?

      Delete
    2. It's more a hatred psykers/witches than anything else.

There is a rule that says that they cannot have allies with psykers in their army (Grey Knights excluded.) I suspect that will stay with 6th edition.

      Delete
    3. No actually in the fluff slaanesh is constantly eating dark eldar souls so they have to grow them back through pain.

  7. Eldar and Dark Eldar? Sounds like Space Marines and CSM would ally, very unlikely...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. eldar and dark eldar are not really enemies i mean they dont agree with one anothers principals but at they at least understand that each is still eldar rather than a mere human. the way they see it each is just trying to survive in different ways. the only true enemies they both share are the necrons Eldar because they are ancient enemies who they just cant forgive and DE because the necrons have no souls to claim and so are a waste of time to raid.

      Delete
    2. Yeah, this isn't Fantasy - if anything, the only groups that the Dark Eldar don't automatically view as subhuman (er, subeldar) prey are the other Eldar kindreds. The Dark Eldar are mentioned as allying with Craftworlders and Harlequins on several occasions in their codex.

  15. Dear Mr. GW,

if you allow me nice little psycic-supercharged Eldar to ally with the much disliked Sisters of Battle, would you at least have the decency to provide a rule saying "these forces must be kept as far away from each other as possible at all times", for usualy encounters of that type lead to awkward situations, such as some decent and quite dutyfull Celestias trying to put some bolt rounds in the heads of me beloved farseers and afterwards incremating their remains.

    Thanks in advance,

    a quite loyal Eldar-Player

  25. Hey Natfka!

Sorry I'm posting this in this thread, but I didn't see an address to e-mail you.

It seems that someone over at The Tyranid Hive has gotten a look at the printed rulebook and posted the changes. They seem pretty legit.

    Here is the link:
    http://thetyranidhive.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=38567&page=26

It would appear I was wrong about the Skimmer 'Jink' save and it DOES actually apply to ALL SKIMMERS, so apologies there mate. It does beggar the question now though, what is the point of DE Flickerfields exactly? I guess they're a 5++ save all the time, even vs. rams and assaults, whereas 'Jink' is only vs. shooting.

The thread finally clarifies how the whole HULL POINTS thing finally works too, so definitely check that out!

    ReplyDelete

    1. It's only used as a different way to play. There is the main rules and the. If you want to play a game with allies then they give you supplementary rules to make it work. I bet it will be the same in 40k. I doubt allies will be a core or any component of actual list building.

  42. Can I just say - who was stupid enough to allow Dark Eldar to ally with Chaos Demons at all?! It is now possible to field a Dark Eldar and Slaneeshi Demon army! That is actually fundamentally wrong!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Woot tyranids can ally with nothing. What awesome units are gonna be in the new nothing codex? Everyone thought Tyranids were a bottom tier army, but this will prove them wrong.

Everyone is gonna be so jealous when we drive our carnifex's around in the new nothing landraider. The nonexistent pattern land raider can carry a monstrous creature, and its poppycock cannon will allow you to shoot your enemies models before they are even on the board. All pales in comparison to the imaginary class terminator army you can now slap on your tervigon though. A 1+ save is nothing to sneeze at after all and it lets the tervigon fly as well. All for the low price of -1 squared points.

This is truly a great day for the tyranid army.

(Ok here is how I really feel on the topic)

Tyranids were never gonna get any allies. They are bloodthirsty monsters that want to nom everything. Trying to give them allies beyond genestealer cults(maybe they will white dwarf this in) would be a travesty of their fluff.

The allies rule cuts both ways however. Imperial guard have it kind of rough because everyone is gonna be grabbing as many imp vehicles as posible to cram into their army. Why would play imperial guard when you can play Space Marines with imperial guard tanks? Why play sisters of battle when you can play Imperial guard with seraphim fast attack troops?(is it better to play guard and take sisters as allies or play sisters and take guard as allies?)

Yes my tyranids will never get to fire tau rail guns and reach grey knights levels of broken, but I never have to worry about all my enemies suddenly having genestealers and hive guard. Tyranid units(The good and the pyrovore) belong to the tyranid codex alone. The nids are for the nids.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't get it. Crons can only have IG as "grudging allies"? Has no-one heard of Mind shackle scarabs???

    ReplyDelete
  45. First of all with Mind shackla scarabs necrons should be able to basicly ally with anyone, except tyranids. But why can't Necrons and dark eldar ally? The dark eldar have been mentioned to work as mercenaries and they really "Respect" the necron C'tan The Nightbringer for all the terror and Fear he has caused. i am not really complaining, because i have no reason to be angry. i think i have enough reason here to make them ally eachother.
