  1. I might quit 40k before I even see the rules.... 75$ for a rule book is ridiculous

    1. its the same price Fantasy's 8th was (roughly, i personally dont remember how much i paid). For a hardback 400+ pages book, it's fair.

if you're too cheap, wait for a smaller version to hit ebay.

    2. $74.25 is about £45, sounds pretty standard to me. Thought that was the current price...

    3. than don't buy the rulebook, i will read it, look for a pdf to download, and buy the starter set and sell the non-loyalists

      Delete
    4. it's large, 440 page hardcover, full color book that's only slightly more than a new video game and is something I'll eventually get way more use out of than a new video game so...fine by me.

      Delete
    5. If it were any other book id take ma video game... but hell this book is a neccessity!

      Delete
    6. Exactly. You need it to play the game, so of course they're going to charge an arm and a leg for it.

      Delete
    7. Yeah. I seem to remember paying about $70 bucks for the big 5th ed rule book 2 years ago so this isnt bad. And as PBoyle said, this book cost the same as Modern Warfare and 1 or 2 map packs which most people dont think twice about buying, and Ill be playing this LONG after Modern Warfare is over and done. Not a fan og GW pricing, but for the rules and fluff in a giant 500 page book...this actually isnt a bad price at all.

    8. My college chemistry book was $245 new or $195 used. I purchased the used for the single class that I needed it for and sold it back to the school in the same condition for $35, so $75 is fair as far as I am concerned.

      Delete
    9. Since were talking about expensive books. Back when i was a med student I had to pay $630 for a med book :P

      Delete
    10. This is perfectly reasonable given the current price of books. As an academic, I find books averaging $40-100, and I get far less from them than from the rulebook. Book prices have been inflating dramatically for years, and its market-wide.

      Delete
    11. Oh noes, $75 USD for a book! Not like us Aussies have to fork out $100+ for ours.

Seriously, read it first, then see whether or not it's worth it based on content.

      Delete
    12. Can I have your stuff?

      Delete
    13. Q.Q tired of people complaining about prices, get a fucking job or better save money for it, ive got couple hundred just for this event ready to use so win for me

  2. As a proppa Bad Moon, it's kinda fun to see my Army of Meganobz go up in price increasing their 'Net Werf' hur hur!

  3. So does that mean that it gets released the 23rd?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Can you not see the June 30th at the end of it. June 23 is when we can start pre ordering it and they make their official announcements.

  4. not sure to understand the DE release... arent those model already on the shelves and in plastic/finecast (well, except those prisoneers)?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, they're the last DE yet to become FC

      Delete
    2. I am hoping Drazhar will be a new sculpt, but I think I am going to be quite disappointed.

      Delete
    3. Beastmasters and Beasts are still way too expensive to be used by many people I think... :(

      Delete
  5. Yes the 2necron lords! But what is the basic ed verses the gamer ed?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It means it comes with a satchel and dice, other then that its the same rule book just with a limited edition set of cool toys that come with it. They did the same thing with the 5th ed release they have just the book, then gamers edition that game with an ammunition case and some markers, and then the collectors edition which comes in a big awesome bound book with fancy pictures and artwork.

      Delete
    2. So looking forward to seeing what they look like as they are he only two who don't even have artwork for them!

      Delete
    3. I'd like one of each please Mr Bank Manager :)

      Delete
  6. $29.75 for a single Ork big gun & 2 grotz? lol, next to know one uses them now, they may as well just discontinue them at that price!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Tau release.... does this mean that the new codex is even further off than we expect? I suppose that it could be that these models are just not going to get new sculpts.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I would not make that assumption. Fingers are crossed that teh Tau are supposed to be big in the fulff in the new book. Codex should still be coming. Tau dont really need new sculpts aside from Broadsides and and maybe Crisis suits. Stealth already got a resculpt and the rest of them still look very very good. Tau love is coming my friend.....

      Delete
    2. Fire Warriors are in dire need of a re-sculpt. Something similar to the way the DE warriors and wyches are put together would be great.

Also, some Crisis Suits that don't look like a Sumo Wrestling Rubik's Cube would be nice.

While we're at it, the Vespids could do with a new look as well.

      Delete
    3. Wow - Tau upgrade kits! I might take back some of the things I've said about GW. I want to equip a squad of XV25s with Plasma Rifles - think they'll let us do that in 6th ed?

      Delete
    4. OMG a broadside battlesuit upgrade kit??? so i can just buy or convert old crisis suits and attach the railguns and all? OH MAN. I hope the crisis got a new sprue - those ankles were really fragile...

As for the entire list - those were all metal? Are they now all finecast? Its the kroot hounds i'm looking for - i really want to field those en-masse with my kroot carnivores but $15 for 2 metal dogs were too high.

      Delete
    5. buy chaos warhounds from the fantasy range, 10 in a box for $35 and you don;t really have to convert anything.

      Delete
    6. Probably means no new crisis sculpt any time soon though

      Delete
  8. It's nice to see GW has their pricing phasers set on "Gouge." LOL. Pirated PDF FTW. I'm going to see if I can spend $0 on GW this edition, lol.

    1. Lego marines and lego tanks, lol!

      Delete
    2. I have nothing against those who want to play paper-hammer with DLed books. But remember you only get out of something what you put in.

      Delete
    3. Yes GWS get out what they put in, poorly written rules, horrendous fluff that destroys all previous lore and hideously expensive everything... That is sure to foster a strong fan base of loyal anti piracy players willing to invest in every release....

      Oh wait

Also the brb doesn't compare to academic books, or even a good fantasy novel, unless something changes it will be poorly worded/structured book of which about 15% is content you actually use.
The normal edition should be just the rules for say $30 and the gamer edition can be the 150$ tome.
In aus the gamer edition may well be over $200.

      Delete
    4. I disagree with you on every point and I find your tone to be obnoxious.

      Delete
    5. I agree with Kris. JUST GIVE THE DARN RULES. I'll be mortgaging my first born for the same full color art and silly diagrams of the galaxy from a decade ago.

    6. @Loopy

You're the reason God created terminal diseases.

      Delete
    7. Sprue marines here I come! And, they're entirely GW product, so you can enter a tournament with them.

  9. I'm curious what the templates/dice/tape measure will look like and whether the tape measure will be chintz, $16.50 is salty.

I'm guessing the rumor about the eBook version's release in September is true, no word on that one's pricing yet. Still no confirmation on the contents or pricing of the starter set, really hoping that's in the White Dwarf, if not I'm going to be stressed out about my Fall hobby budget for another few months X_X

  10. Tau may be coming sooner rather than later. No fine cast o'shovah. There is a lot of talk about more love for him in the new book and a new model right around the corner would explain why he wasn't being updated. I'm hopeful.........

  13. And STILL NO FINECAST SANGUINOR!! Come on

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. He shouldn't be made in Finecast... With rules like that he should be made out of CHEESE!!! :D
I also notice a lack of a limited edition starter set... What's become of that rumour?

      Delete
    2. startet set wont be out till sept. so i think no new rumors are around atm.

      Delete
    3. @Shrike. Did you notice any starter set? I think not...

      Delete
    4. Ok have you seen how the sanguinor is mounted on his base? Take a look. Now do you really want that made of flimsy resin?

      Delete
    5. For some insane reason i just want a sanguinor in resin.... I guess the flimsy nature of the base is one of the reasons they are not doing it... It's just become my barometer...

      Delete
  14. Really looking forward to finding out what the Gamer Edition is.

    ReplyDelete
  15. That's interesting... 32 cards in the psychic set. that divides nicely by 4 making it 8 cards per discipline.

In the fantasy set, you get 7 cards per lore giving you 56 cards. 1 per D6 result, plus the 'default' spell.

I wonder why they're providing 8 cards per proposed discipline?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lol us Australians will have to pay $150+ probably. Thats 100 pounds...
You think youe getting ripped off!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. all GK models goes to mail order i guess.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Awesome now I can get 4 kroot hounds for 25 instead of 28 dollars. Wait well worth it *Sarcasm*. The most expensively priced model that will die from a grot firing into them. Looks like i will just be converting chaos hounds.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Once again, Chaos warhounds are your solution. 1o in a box for $35
