Leak Alert! 6th Edition Rulebook Cover


It looks like a leak of the cover for 6th edition has arrived. While not confirmed, it very well could be the cover for the new book. I wish there was a follow up with the book opened and flipped through, or at least another pic of the back or first page or two.


Take it as it is, this pic comes to us from Kaltenberg or Wax, I have no idea who was first with the leak.

It does definetly look like a rulebook, with Dark Angels on the front. A hardcover, supposedly in full color. Now if only I could reach through the monitor and take it for a spin for a few hours.

  2. It looks more like the Dark Angels codex cover, but it wouldnt surprise me if it was 6th ed. We all know how much GW loves there power armor.

      Dark green armour. Red bolter. Red Dark Angel Logo. Lack of White pauldrons.
      They be Dark Angels.

  6. I think these are Dark Angels.

    The Marine in the bottom right corner has red shoulder mark, which DA have, as far as I know.


    That aside, I like the cover.

  7. the only reason I would say it is 6th edition front cover is because this picture of a book is clearly a hard back and only fantasy has hardback book at the moment from what we know.

    1. Rumor is that new Codices will be hardback. If Fantasy armybooks are hardback, there is no reason to believe the same wouldn't hold true for 40k. It may well be the rule book, but the fact that it's hardback is meaningless.

  8. People are saying this book is not the 40K rule book, but the Dark Angel Codex. The big tip off is the missing warhammer that represents Warhammer 40K.

    1. The problem with that is that every codex says exactly what it is on the front. There is no "Dark Angels" on the front, and the wording at the bottom is consistent with our last rulebook cover.

      the bottom of covers on codices are different.

      However who knows when it comes to 6th edition what will change.

    2. This could easily be a misprint, prototype, or anything else that would cause it to fall into the hands of someone with a camera. I doubt it's the rulebook because of the missing generic motif. To have a whole edition where one Space Marine Chapter is on the front of the book... doesn't seem quite right. I think it might be a leaked prototype for the Dark Angels Codex.

    3. Look back in time a bit, there you shall find 1st, 2nd and 3rd edition. These ancient artefacts have Space Marines of a single chapter on their cover. Crimson Fists and Black Templars specifically.

  9. The marine sowrd looks like DA type, but the DA codex release date???

    And in old rumors I read that the codex after six edition will be hard cover.

    But i think is the rulebook at the end...

  11. 5th edition cover was just beautiful and iconic.

    I hope this isn't the real thing. It is just not good enough for a rulebook.

    I would have gone for a neverending revisit of the Hammer of War. That would make for a neat guiding thread.

    Anyway, if this is true, I really can't wait to hang out with it and its sweet gretchin green / Deathworld Forest background... >_<

  12. The center marine looks like a Black Templar, but the one int he bottom right looks like a Dark Angel tactical marine.

    1. Look at the heraldry above the center guy's head. It's either a winged sword, or the winged blood drop. Judging by the general lack of brilliant crimson on his power armor, I'm erring on the side of the DA heraldry. Either way, definitely not BT.

    2. If it is a Dark Angel, he's wearing the tabbard and cape that are iconic of the BT. Dark Angels robes typically cover the legs, expose the breastplate, and don't have the shoulder fasten things that the BTs do.

      He looks exactly like the guy on the cover of Codex: BT. Winged heraldry and all.

  13. I doubt that they would put an image that is army-specific on the rulebook. Its either the DA codec, a special edition rule book for the starter set(my guess) or an art book or something(highly unlikely).

  16. My guess is this is the cover of the starter set rulebook, as DA are rumoured to be in said set. If you look back at the 4th mini rulebook it had Ultramarines on its cover.

  22. That doesn't look like a rulebook containing 400+ pages... I kind of hope it is a fake otherwise I'm just going for the starter version.

  23. I don't think it's legit. It doesn't look like a corebook: the past fistful of editions have an iconic, non-actiony cover. This looks like a codex or something.

  24. The central figure vaguely looks like a toned down version of the emperor. Armor isn't as golden and sword isn't as on fire, but its got the red cape and the glowy spiky behind the head halo. Only a vague resemblance though.

  25. I can confirm this as the 6th rulebook, we had to pack lots of those (heavy -.-) things yesterday. Currently there is no way to get pictures from the inside though, they are all shrink wrapped and unless you want LOTS of trouble you don't leave any kind of visible dmg on the package

  26. Guys its the 25th year and the dark angels were the first, its a tribute for the 1st legion and all prievous besides 5th had a chapter on the front cover. Crimson fists on rogue trader, blood angels 2nd and the ultramarines 4th not sure on 3ed though.

    2. That is incorrect. The 4th edition rulebook also had a warhammer on the cover, like so:

      3rd edition rulebook had black templars.
      Surprisingly, Ultramarines have never been on the front cover, only on 2 of the starter set boxes.

    Anyway, if this is the rulebook cover, I am a bit disapointed. The 3rd ed version (which wasn't that good) was still more rulebook-y than this. Even as a codex cover, it's pretty bland and meaningless. More like the kind of art you see on the backs of WDs.

    Anyway, the chapter is DA. The red on green shoulder insignia and red bolters are a dead giveaway. BT uses black bolters...

    Might be a concept art / suggestion for the rulebook but I hope to the God Emperor of Mankind and a few Chaos Gods besides that this is just a cruel trick by Cegorach on us mortals.

  28. I really don't like the look of this. At least in past editions, there was a border around the edge, or the extremely iconic hammer of war plastered all over the front. Hell, even the 8th edition WHFB rulebook got the look right. This? Meh, at absolute best. No border, a distinct lack of a hammer, and the DA plastered all over the front. Xenos players will be so p***ed off about this. Every time you want to play a game, stare at your copy of the book of Dark Green Space Marines!
    You know, if they wrote Codex: Dark Angels on the front, I would genuinely believe that this was the codex. It just looks much more like the 8th edition Fantasy army books than what I would expect the 40k rulebook to be like.
    BTW, anon. above, Black Templars were on the cover of the 3rd ed. Rulebook.

    1. Im with you. I always knew GW loves their sm but this...now...is taking it to far.

      It was fine in old editions because xenos werent the main focus. They arguably gotten better, fluff and gaming wise. But if anything I was expecting chaos on it. If it would show more xenos then id be content...

      Hoping its a fake....most likey is... and i was expecting the 25th anniversary logo on it to always remind us when this book was released.

    2. Wasn't there a picutre released and subsequently pulled down on the GW facebook? I'm pretty sure it had a warhammer on it, the 40k logo and the 25th anniv. aquilla

      Hopefully that is the real rulebook as that was one sweet book o' rules

  32. Two things that I notice with this. One is that the tag line on the bottom is quite probably "In the grim darkness of the 41st Millennia, there is only war." and two that the corner on the top right looks a little damaged? I guess could just be light reflecting or something like that but it looks to worn for a new book if you get what I mean
