The highlight for many was the Coming Soon seminar, where a panel of Black Library luminaries revealed some of the exciting things to look forward to over the coming months. If you didn’t make it to the event, never fear – we have all the news right here for you!
Gotrek Gurnisson is back (again)! The Slayer who survived the death of his world will be returning in a massive celebration this September, complete with two new stories… and a model!
This gorgeous figure depicts Gotrek as he appears in the Mortal Realms, complete with a Fyreslayer axe and shoulder plate taken from a fallen comrade (check out Realmslayer to get the full details). And to prove he hasn’t lost his knack for killing skaven, there’s a massive pile of them beneath his feet.

And it’s not just the model! Gotrek’s adventures will continue in a second audio drama series starring Brian Blessed. Realmslayer: Blood of the Old World sees the Slayer seeking new purpose amidst the forests of Ghyran… but his quest will bring him face-to-face with an enemy from his distant past.

Going from the Realm of Life to Death, Ghoulslayer pits Gotrek and his companion, the aelven assassin Maleneth, against the inhabitants of Shyish’s underworlds, as Gotrek seeks an audience with the Undying King, Nagash himself. This is the first full-length Gotrek novel since 2015’s Slayer, and the first set in the Mortal Realms – and with Darius Hinks writing, it’s sure to be a fantastic read.

You’ll also be able to pick up the complete script to Realmslayer, last year’s audio drama series that brought Gotrek to the Mortal Realms, complete with art, behind-the-scenes photograph and a never-before-scene annotated script. If you want to delve even further into the past, you can do so with the 20th Anniversary edition of Trollslayer, the collection of Gotrek & Felix tales that kicked off the entire saga.

Elsewhere in the Mortal Realms, there will be tales of Death, Order and Chaos coming your way. David Annandale is returning to the Mortarch of Blood in his new novel Neferata: The Dominion of Bones, while David Guymer is bringing the Idoneth Deepkin to the surface in their first-ever novel, Court of the Blind King. The Gloomspite Gitz are also getting their fictional debut in Andy Clark’s appropriately-titled Gloomspite, complete with a suitably sinister, yet strangely adorable, cover.

Black Library will also be release a tie-in anthology for the new game Warcry. This collection of six tales by David Annandale, Sarah Cawkwell, Ben Counter, David Guymer, Peter McLean and Josh Reynolds explores the servants of Chaos from across the realms, including the new warbands from the game.

Fans of Gaunt’s Ghosts (that’s everyone, right?) have a treat in store, in the form of an incredible new edition of The Sabbat Worlds Crusadebackground book. This immense coffee table tome is effectively a historical guide to the events of the Gaunt’s Ghosts series, detailing the long campaign to retake the Sabbat Worlds from Chaos, from its origins right up to the most recent battles detailed in The Anarch. This new edition is twice as big as the original, with loads of new material written by Dan Abnett himself, plus new art, character portraits and much more. It’ll be out in time for Christmas, and we’re sure it’s going to be featured in lots of letters to Santa.

Black Library are also delving further into the Dark Imperium with a host of books exploring both sides of the Great Rift. The Blood Angels are among the foremost defenders of the Imperium Nihilus, and two new novels will shine new light on their efforts to hold back the tides of Chaos. Mephiston: City of Light is the third in Darius Hinks’ series about the Lord of Death, while Guy Haley continues his tales of the Chapter’s leader in Dante: Darkness of the Blood – which will be released in a luxurious limited edition packed with extra features – which will be revealed later in the year.
On the Terran side of the Imperium, Guy Haley has been communing with the Omnissiah to craft a tale of the most important tech-priest in the galaxy. Belisarius Cawl: The Great Work brings the magos biologis to Sotha, once the home world of the Scythes of the Emperor, and long before that a key planet in an empire long forgotten. This story has big ramifications for the lore of Warhammer 40,000…

Knights of Macragge by Nick Kyme focuses on Cato Sicarius, and the events that occurred after he was lost in the warp early in the Indomitus Crusade. It’s a look at the unbreakable nature of the Ultramarines and how far they will go to defend the innocent people of the Imperium.

Mike Brooks will be exploring some of the more esoteric areas of the Imperium in Rites of Passage, a political tale of a Navigator House, complete with lots of treachery and backstabbing. Alongside that, Chris Wraight will return to the Throneworld in Vaults of Terra: The Hollow Mountain, which sees Inquisitor Crowl trace a deadly conspiracy at the very heart of the Imperium even as Chaos engulfs Terra. John French’s Horusian Wars series will also continue with Divination, an anthology of short stories starring Inquisitor Covenant and his various servants and allies.

There will also be new chances to delve into the Blackstone Fortress with two new titles set in the ancient alien construct. The Beast Inside is an audio drama by Darius Hinks, author of the Blackstone Fortress novel, and sees Rogue Trader Janus Draik hunting a mighty beast… the dreaded Ambull. If you’ve ever wondered just what these terrifying creatures sound like, this is your chance to find out. Vaults of Obsidian, meanwhile, is a short story anthology containing ten tales of fearless explorers and nerve-wracking expeditions.

More details were also revealed about the forthcoming second series of paperback novellas, coming your way in time for Christmas. Like the first series, this will consist of ten action-packed novellas, covering Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Warhammer 40,000, Necromunda and Warhammer Horror. We can reveal four of the titles and covers now, including a new Adepta Sororitas story by Danie Ware, a tale of the Storm Lords by Edoardo Albert, a Chaos-tainted story by Jamie Crisalli and a look into the rogues of the Mortal Realms by Nick Horth.

The other six titles in the series will be written by Graeme Lyon, Denny Flowers, Thomas Parrott, Steve Lyons, Nate Crowley and, writing his first longer-form Black Library fiction since The Crimson King, Graham McNeill. There will be more information about Novella Series 2 coming soon, so keep an eye out.

The third books in each of the Warhammer Adventures series are on their way. In the far future, Zelia Lor and friends will be unravelling the Secrets of the Tau in a new book by Cavan Scott, while Tom Huddleston will be returning to the Mortal Realms to see how Kiri and her companions survive in the Forest of the Ancients.
Earlier this year, Warhammer Horror gave you a dark and sinister new look at the 41st Millennium and the Mortal Realms. This autumn, you’ll return to the darkness as a new season of Horror begins with three new titles – two novels and an audio drama – that will continue the spine-chilling exploration of the worlds of Warhammer that began earlier this year. David Annandale will be venturing into the House of Night and Chain, and C L Werner will explore the Castle of Blood. And in audio, Alec Worley, who wrote Perdition’s Flame, will relate the sinister tale of the Watcher in the Rain.
A pair of tales from the underhive will bring the gang warfare of Necromunda to life. Terminal Overkill by Justin D Hill pits Goliaths and Eschers against each other in a battle that starts out being about territory and ends in a desperate quest for revenge. Meanwhile, the galaxy’s coolest bounty hunter (and his long-suffering sidekick Scabbs) returns in Josh Reynolds’ Kal Jerico: Sinner’s Bounty!

One of the most requested stories from the 31st Millennium is the origin tale of Constantin Valdor, Captain-General of the Legio Custodes. Good news – it’s coming, with a glorious limited edition novel followed six months later by the standard edition. Valdor: Birth of the Imperium by Chris Wraight will detail this hero’s role in the formation of the Imperium, and no doubt reveal a few juicy hidden secrets about the Emperor and his plans…

Josh Reynolds is also back with a new tale of Endryd Harr and his Blackshields, in the audio drama The Broken Chain.

With the Siege of Terra now underway, we know you’ve been waiting patiently to see what’s next after The Solar War. Well, The Lost and the Damned is coming, and the cover is simply amazing, depicting Sanguinius marshalling the defenders of the Throneworld before one of the immense walls of the Imperial Palace.

Written by Guy Haley, this tale will see the attack on Terra begin in earnest. Like The Solar War, it will appear first as a limited edition.
Finally, we can confirm the title and author of the third book in the Siege of Terra series:

We don’t know about you, but we’re getting chills…
