New on the Tau front are a few rumors regarding the upcoming Tau Codex said to be released early next year. The Tau are said to be placed sometime around April/May possibly after a Black Templar codex. Either way, if we recieve a new Tau codex, it will be like the heavens parting for many people I know that love the army.

Please remember that these are rumors and require the normal dose of salt.

Demiurg are apparently a lot less Dwarfish than the initial concepts, instead being more like little stone golems (Ozruk from WoW was mentioned)

As a tongue in cheek nod to the fate of the squats, there is a named Demiurg (who may or may not make it as a SC) who survived fighting Tyranids and personally killed a large monster by drilling his way out after being "Swallowed up by the 'Nids"

This Demiurg is aware that the Ethereals have some kind of power over the Tau (maybe other races too) but not the Demiurg, who have presumably signed up for political reasons and of their own free will

as far as the xenos fluff im allowed to read, demiurg are like well its in both our interests (plus theres this thing where there homeworld was lost n some actualy want a world to settle, in tau space), the ancients show reverence to tau, but ethreals also have a kind of awe for the demiurg ancients... n concidering that one ... well i would be

kroot well the orks, and the vespid is more like left open are they mind controlled are they not

Stealth suit mechanics may change

Kroot fieldcraft rule - presumably switched to Stealth and Infiltrate USR

4 new 'Tau' units*: Note these will not all probably be in the first release - there's 2-3 plastic kits here and we already know 3 for the 4 that are coming out.

Dropship (carries upto 15 models or 2 battlesuits and 10 models, or 5 battlesuits)

Fighter

Snipersuits

"Ubersuit"
The Ubersuit is a Battletech/Mechwarrior sort of thing (probably Dreadknight sized), with a special 'ridiculous' ability that lets it rain down shooting if it stands still.

Looks a bit like one of the Battletech Mechs that is named after an ancient weapon

  1. Why is it that the Chaos Legions are later next year, but their rumours are more exciting than the Tau? Before commenting I looked at the 'Tau Rumours: Compilation' but still felt meh!

I hope I'm wrong. My 40K Deathwatch are bored in a box awaiting a xenos to hunt. Have I missed some great rumours, or is that it?

Like the Dark Eldar and Necrons, the previous Codexes of the Tau didn't impress me much. Since the DE and Nec have cool models and rules, I was expecting the same with the Tau. Where's the wow!?

  2. looks interesting glad their expanding the empire.

  3. @Warled T: Agreed on that one. Chaos Legions seems to be an astonishingly large expansion, but Tau just seem rather dull, even in comparison with the Necrons and their rather unexciting release.

  4. I agree as well. While the rumors say we will be seeing Black Templar and Tau before we see the Chaos Legions, the rumors for Legions are so much more intense and frequent, leaving the others as just meh atm.

I am hoping we get some rumors that will spice things up for Tau, make it much more interesting.

As you've said, it could be that Chaos are more popular that we're hearing more about them.

All I want to hear for Templars are plastic box sets for Sword Brethren Terminators and Initiates (think Space Wolves). That's my wishful thinking. Favourite space marines already.

Getting back on topic, I'd love to get all excited over Tau. Kroot, Demiurg, Vespids making 4 Xenos in one army, my kill-teams will be busy.

  8. Yeah I fear Tau will get shafted, but I hope the lack of expansion rumors mean more of an overhaul of rules, stats, and wargear for the models that need it already.

  9. I suspect it's just that Chaos Legions are so much more popular.

  10. I want to point out that Ghost was the same guy who said we'd be getting plastic Sisters. He's not exactly a reliable source.

  11. You might still get plastic sisters. I hardly think they'll last very long without any new models.

  12. Platic sisters also comes other sources as well, including 2010 games day rumors. Plastic Sisters were being worked on, however there were some issues with the sculpts last we heard. Not to mention I am sure they were put on hold when they decided to go with a White Dwarf update instead trying to squeeze in a codex.

  13. Good to know. Thanks again Natfka.

Blood Angels got a WD codex, then came a proper codex with some COOL miniatures after the 5th Edition rulebook was released. Did take a couple of years though.

    Keep the faith Sister fans.

  14. Man I was hoping they would be super Dworfy, but I guess stone golems are ok too. I can't believe the tau are getting an even bigger battle suit, but in this post dreadknight(mechanical monstrous creature wtf) world anything is possible including vehicles for the tyranids maybe.
