  3. For a corporate memo being sent to everyone seems funny no one proofed it and they misspelled disclosure in the final line.

    1. That's not supposed to be disclosure. To join the grammar and spelling patrol, you need to first improve your vocabulary.

    2. Given the context, it clearly is supposed to be "disclosure"

      Delete
    3. Now I'm second guessing myself. Is it a US vs UK spelling thing?

    4. Before criticizing someone for poor vocabulary you might want to up your reading comprehension. That's clearly meant to be 'disclosure'.

      Delete
    5. It's not. They're saying the person who discloses the information, aka the discloser, is to be punished.

      Delete
    6. it is not saying the person releasing the information is against company policy, its saying any release of information is against company policy, therefore disclosure.

if it meant discloser, it should have said '... as the discloser is acting aginst company policy in regards to pre-release information.'

      Delete
    7. It is correct in the letter... Just replace discloser with employee if that makes it easier.

      Delete
    8. This is the Anon 8:14...No its not. The first part of the sentence is the person, the second half of the sentence is the information. Changing discloser to employee makes the sentence completely wrong. It is disclosure.

...as the employee of pre-release information is against company policy. Makes no sense.

      Delete
    9. Anonymous 9:31 gives the best explanation of why it's incorrect.

    10. Very cool off topic discussion. Good job guys

      Delete
    11. not entirely off topic as the meaning of the sentence is in doubt depending on how people read the sentence with their reading comprehension (or lack there of). Besides, it's the internet and Grammar Nazis are abound.

  4. Great news! Are we thinking that all of the starter sets are gonna be limited edition for a while? Hate to sound like a broken record, I just don't wanna be late to the party and have that sweet DA chaplain.

    1. Does anyone know what happens to all the old boxed sets? There must be quite a few hanging around in warehouses and as of right now you can still buy it from the GW site.

Do they get recycled somehow? Cam you even recycle GW plastic? Or do they get sold into some kind of secondary market?

  7. "Your mission....if you choose to accept it...is to not discloser anything!" Seriously, though, that memo read like a mission impossible tape before self destructing.

Looking forward to seeing the stuff at my local store, they have a top notch paint team.

  9. AHHAHA!

So instead of actually PAYING their employees GW just gives them a dose of plastic crack....

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. But that is paying them. On your own time, spend a couple of hours painting our stuff that no one else will have access to yet, and then we will give you $115 boxed set (worth more like $175) for free. Keeping in mind that they will still get paid their regular wages while at the store.

      You are stupid.

  11. From dave....

If this is uk origin I'm presuming it will be dave gundy ( one of the big wig managers now, worked his way up ). If any of those folk who have had a good bash at his vocabulary skills ever meet him, you will feel really bad as he is such a nice guy, much better then any other gw employee I've met.

  15. On thursday my LGS manager received two visits from fedex. One was his normal resupply (battleforces, model kits), the other was express and the box was security sealed and said "To be opened by manager only". This pretty much confirms my suspicions about what was in the box in the first place.

  16. There's an addendum to that letter that recommends that GW staff use Army Painter to have everything ready in time :p

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. theres not. there is, however, an addendum containing some pics of the minimum standard the miniatures have to be painted and all the brushes + colors we need to paint them.

      Delete
  17. My local store has theirs too, i get on very well with the manager and he showed me a couple of the models that had arrived (in blatant disregard to the above), saw the chaplain and Hellbrute and i'll say now the pictures do not do them justice. These are utterly brilliant models.

also a bit more information he passed on, all the initial run of the box sets are the limited edition ones and will contain the chaplain after that batch have run out there will be no more chaplains.

  19. GW can't keep things secret as well as New Line Cinema can't avoid piracy of it's movie. People are too excited about both. It's their hobby, a part of their life and they love it.
Every game get's cracked, every movie pirated and every song is downloaded. They should embrace it. Those people who really love the game/ music/ movie are the ones who'll pay for it.

  20. ''paying them" by giving them the starter set seems really poor. I used to be a store manager for gw in the early 90s and every member of staff got a copy of each box game as it came out anyway. It was one of the perks of the job, that plus 50% discount on anything in the shop plus the ability to send pick lists to head office every so often, of metal figures, which would then be sent to you ar a cost of £25 a kilo. A massive saving! From the 'don't order' instruction sounds like now you just get a discounted one, and it wouldn't surprise me if it wasnt even 50%

    ReplyDelete
  21. is this for GW stores or do independent stores also get the models?

  22. Its quite possible the letter's author doubles as the editor for the imperial armour books.
