    2. Isn't it only like a $8 difference? Id say hang on to the limited to sell later. Like next year later. Hell, I'd buy it from you now if you wanted.

    3. Eh idnt know to be honest. Ill just get the cultists ajd paint them and just assemble everything else like i usually do.

      But if the csm codex looks fine. I may start a mini ally force...

    4. Are these going to be the models in the kits that come out? They seem disappointingly simplistic, at least for my tastes.

  2. Is the DA symbol etched into their shoulder pads or are they just painted on?

    1. They are a raised design

    2. Looks like paint to me...
      And I don't get why they would do that...

    3. It's raised, but not very crisp if they're the same marine shoulder pads that are in the paint-starter set.
      That's why it looks like they're not raised.
      Not too much fun to paint, especially compared to the normal ones...

  4. Ok so a BIT upset I just spent £240 on ravenwing battles forces for GW to chance the design 12 weeks later.

    Other then that....looks good.

    2. Viper - living proof that the GW policy of keeping us in the dark about everything works just fine - for them.

  5. I would really advice against buying the starter if you are a chaos player, here is why:
    5-6 chosen means you have to buy another chosen box when they are released for a full squad and probably one more because you cannot customize the models.

    10 cultists (yes 10 because the other 10 are another loadout/squad) means you probably need 2 more boxes when they are released to fit out a squad. If you just buy 2 boxes then you probably have enough for a unit as well.

    Chaos lord is nice.
    Hellbrute, not customisable. Better wait on the real release.

    Just my 2 cents.

    1. The starter set is 100 dollars. Here's the estimated dollar value of the individual kits:

      Chaos Lord - 15
      Chosen (6) - 30
      Helbrute - 50
      Cultists (10) - 30
      Cultists (10) - 30

      Already you're saving 55 dollars and I haven't even touched the mini rulebook or any of the Dark Angel stuff. If you sell the Dark Angel stuff for half the price, then you essentially paid for a Helbrute and got everything else for free. If you have to buy more stuff to fill out some squads, so be it! A lot better than buying it all separate!

    2. Why would you need to buy another box of chosen? Minimum unit of 5, customisable enough anyway.
      Cultist unit size, IIRC, is 10-30. No real problem there, unless you want to pad out your units.
      Hellbrute? That cannon could be almost anything with a minute conversion, and the power fist looks as though it will be quite easy to chop off and replace.
      The lord is indeed nice, I agree with that.
      Don't forget that you also have an extra army of fallen Dark Angels to use, and the rulebook, etc.
      Final note: those are the best sculpted Chaos Marines Games Workshop have ever released. In my opinion, there are a lot of reasons why chaos players should get this set.

  6. For Hellbrute Multimelta and Close combat weapon is a nice choice, you would go like with probably anyway. I imagine you will need to buy drop pods (CSM uses drop pods?) For Hellbrute and rock'n'roll.

    i would love to thee GW changing Dreads/Hellbruts to monstrous creatures like Dreadknight is. This would solve a lot of shit problems and balance it a bit with the new flying broken stuff.

    Ravening will get option to field as troops stormtalons ? :D

    And one more thing, if only AA otpion will be WW ( special weapon for aa, useless if no Flyiers ) and special Devastator with Missile luncher we will see spam of Devastators so Space Wolves will be much better force because they can field 2 x more HS than others.

    4 x SW Devastators with 4 each Missile Lunchers + 4 Stormtalons each with Typhoon Missile Lunchers + Some Termies with Missiles or Dreadzz with Autocnannons.

    On the other hand Necrons spam Nightscyte can be really hard to beat. They can get one of the best flying overpowoered things as dedicated transport fielding 8 flying machines in regular battle easy.

    1. Just so we will make it clear.

      295 = 15 Warriors + Night Scyte
      550 = 10 Lychguard with Shields + Night Scyte
      a) Orican The Diviner + C'Than shard of Writhing Worldspace to troll oponent. 165 + 220
      b) Trazyn to even more trolling 175
      or c) Anrakyr for extremem trolling 165
      175 = Doom scyte
      So in the most trolling option we have
      HQ -> Orican The Diviner + C'Than shard of Writhing Worldspace to troll oponent. = 365
      TR -> 15 Warriors + Night Scyte x 4 = 1180
      EL -> CThan
      EL -> 10 Lychguard with Shields + Night Scyte = 550
      HS -> Doom scyte x 2 = 350
      Sum = 2445
      For totall trolling army, point here is just get on board, make your opponent roll for dangeR!! terrain and lose 1/8-1/4 of his army in first turn, camp with warriors on objectives.

      Now how to make ti regular 1500 and don't lose trolling spirit. Drop out Lychguards and 1 Troop of Warriors plus change HQ to Anrakyr lol and take controll of enemy vehicles. Stillt rolling from Air can camping. for Total of
      1400 so you hvae 100 points for Crypteks and Lords with ressurection orbs to beef up Warriors at camping. Ressurection orbs are also good at trolling oponent.

    3. Good luck finding an opponent willing to play against that many flyers.

    4. More like good luck keeping three models alive for a turn so you don't lose to a turn one field wipe, this list is kind of shit against an army with any range or speed.

    5. I would play against it.

      LOL, weapons platforms.
      LOL, AV 11.

  7. Don't most people equip their dreads with multi meltas anyway? Not seeing what the issue is...

    I am trading my Dark Angels away for another batch of chaos. Pretty decent starting force if you ask me.

    1. Straight-up have never seen a non-AoBR dread with a multi-melta.

      Delete
    2. thats because apparently the standard package dread lacks a multi-melta

      Delete
    3. For Loyalists, that have a drop pod, yes, for CSM which does not, you want a rifleman dread, which will be the twin reapers if the other rumors are correct. That said this is still a good deal and it's not that hard to cut a piece of plastic off. It may not look as clean as you want, but it's a massive chaos mutant grown into his armour, how clean are you looking for?

      Delete
  8. The is no guarantee that the Hellbrute box will come with a multi-melta. GW might intentially not put in in, so that if you want one, you will need this or wait for forgeworld to release one, just like the Space Marine Dreadnought.
