There is one weapon that does not often see the light of day, (unless your grey knights with psybolt ammunition), and that is the Heavy Bolter. So it was an odd choice to see it in the sternguard upgrade pack that is being released mid-month. This rumor declares for certain marine units, the Heavy Bolter is going to get updated for space marines.......

This rumor was not coming across well and has been removed. It was incorrect. I will update this a little later. I will get it correct this time.

    1. Funny that DW and a DW Libby are included on the leaked release schedule. What are the odds they'll have the funky Heavy Bolters too?

  2. So heavy bolters can be Big Shootas? I always knew Green was best!

    1. Actually with the changes to rapid fire weapons too, tactical squads can act like mini Ork Shoota mobs. How cute! :P

    1. Very unlikely, suspensors were developed/rediscovered at some point during late M34, if I remember correctly.

    2. What's up with that crazy spacing? Weird...

    3. Even if suspensors have only been available since M34, the Chaos Legions haven't exactly been sitting on their hands for 7 centuries.

Hate the idea that Chaos doesn't use anything post-M31, yet they also don't get the incredible pre-M31 stuff.

    1. Jop! Someone made that up when seeing the Finecast Upgrade sprue from a Day or 2 ago!

Rule Wise there is no Need for more assault weapons. Flamer Deals with light & Plasma with Heavy infantry!

    2. I personaly don't believe reason behind changing the heavy bolter has anything to do with need.

It is more a queation of gw using sprue space, plastic and other factors on a weapon no-one uses on that platform.

Myself, I would love to see the O'l HB dusted off and made into a weapon to be feared...again.

  8. This sounds a lot like the Deathwatch variant of the Heavy Bolter. Maybe GW is choosing to make this army wide for all Marines.

  10. Maybe its also in preparation to the new book for allies they have in the making....

  11. In my opinion, this rumor makes no sense. Salvo is a weapon type. Not a USR. Meaning if the weapon gains Salvo, it won't/shouldn't matter who is firing it.

  12. Have you folks noticed the Heavy Flamer is a assault weapon now?

    1. .....Heavy flamers have ALWAYS been assault weapons! Heavy in this case is nothing more than a description of the flamer.....

  13. This about 60% speculation. Yes there IS some sort of special upgrade for HB's but it will NOT work like this.

    2. Yes do tell! Just considering making a deathwatch army...

    3. What I heard is if this upgrade is selcted. The model can move and fire D3 shots at full BS and Range.

  14. I don't believe there is anything wrong with the hb. It is just that everyone uses power armor. Lol

  15. This looks promising, perhaps there will finally be a reason to take heavy bolters now!
