The first thing you are going to say.... is where is my Chaos Space Marines. Well, this is just the list that is sent out to retailers, so we are still looking for a mid month Chaos Space Marine release. Notice the list only goes out to Sept 15th.

There is a lot of resin in the list, and some interesting things as well. Take a look at the Space Marine Sternguard Veterans Weapons release. This looks highly valuable for us depending on whats in it. I look forward to it, as well as seeing what the Dark Vengeance Figure Case looks like.

The rest is very much finecast re-release models. (I do like that the plasma weapon and melta weapon packs are being made in resin... much easier to customize with)

  3. It's coming. It's just a matter of when. The releases go out to the 15, which leaves a whole half of a month, and if GW thinks they can get away with just a starter set with models that we can't use in the current Chaos Codex... *sigh*

I have faith that it's happening. It might be just a touch longer..

    4. I can't either Bro. Not when it's so close. We all know it's so close, we can taste it. All we need is for GW to just push it out already. Just give us the Chaos we desire so we can get some non-imperium love back onto the tabletop.

    5. Its 2 Weeks! And GW wants you to BuY the box with the rules if you want the Model -_- OMg
So its better the longer they wait with CSM dex

      Delete
    6. The models will have rules in Dark Vengeance as well as the accompanying White Dwarf, so it's not as though they are unplayable. The Ork and Space Marine fliers were not in their respective codices, for example, yet they can still be played because of the rules released along side them.

GW can now release models whenever they want, codex permitting or not.

      Delete
  4. Why does everyone say you cannot use models? The rules for them are in the boxset, yes? So what is the issue? You can use them in any game.

    ReplyDelete

    1. except the rules aren't there.

some rules might be there yes, but special rules for units typically are not

    2. Just because there's a pamphlet (and there may not be) in the starter set doesn't mean you can just tack that onto your current Codex. A Tournament Organizer wouldn't allow it, and even casual gamers would just be like 'Dude, just wait for your Codex.'

    3. Same for stormtalon & Daka Jet !!! -.-
Its Not in the Book & FAQs are also not in the Book -_- oh lol

      Delete
    4. No TO worth his or her salt would deny an official GW release, moron. Storm Talon? Dakka Jet? Terrorgheist? Yeah, GW will be doing this more often, and they are official. A player, not the TO, would be in the right to play the models at an event without a new codex containing said rules.

Besides, these models will have rules in the White Dwarf and Dark Vengeance.

THEY WILL BE PLAYABLE BEFORE THE CSM CODEX. Get it through your heads.

  5. I'm assuming the shoulderpads are just finecast versions of the old pewter ones, but I wonder if they will also still be a bit undersized.

    1. If its the Same Version yes.... Resin tends to schrank les than Metal Thats why its scharper detailed but it still will be 7-9% smaller than the original.

  8. Anyone else notice the Eldar Wraithguard at $59 bucks? Does this mean we are finally going to see plastic Wraithguard or are they finecasting them and putting 4-5 in a box?

    1. FINALLY!!

Wait is that cheaper than they currently are or not?

If yes then I'm probably gonna start that wraith army I always wanted.

    2. Yes, it's cheaper by $3 each wraithguard

      Delete
    3. Keep in mind this is a temporary thing untio they are made plastic in less than 12 months. Same thing happened with the Hive Tyrant. They moved to Finecast only because GW didn't cast them in metal anymore, but new ones cometh.

    1. And that's why I stick with Natfka. Beasts of War just give this air of self-importance and cheeseballing, with ads and crap all over their page. Faeit keeps it simple, keeps it straight, updates often, and has some sweet DE tactica too :3

    2. I probably asked te wrong question in retrospect i think the better question is do you trust this source natfka?

Enough to fill the Month with releases.
Better Question CSM in Sept, than trying to make them fit in somewhere!

    4. This is the retail version, so unless they are giving the wrong information to the independent stores, then yes.

      Delete
    5. Why would they Give Stores fals info? They want them to Order this stuff. Same for CSMs they would let Stores know ahead so they can Order. At least they would let them know prices so they Could Order.

  10. Sternguard weapons? Dark Angel Starter set? All I got to say is... where the hell did all my money go!

  11. Did I just spot a Unicorn in that list?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Indeed it is. I just searched it on the GW site. I can't believe they have Unicorn mounts. I would definitely have a Chaos Lord on a Unicorn mount. Although the Unicorn would be appropriately Chaosified with flaming hooves and black and red all over. Picture a badass Rapidash.

  13. Personally, I think this list means no CSM Codex in September. It seemed odd to me that GW would release both the starter set and a Codex in the same month.

I hope I'm proven wrong, but I won't hold my breath...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree, but the fact that the starter set has units not in the current codex at least gives me some hope they would release the codex soon after.

    2. I'm just remembering that post Faeit did a while back that explained a 'vocal minority' suggested GW should slow their releases, which is why Chaos Daemons came out and Chaos Marines were 'pushed back'. If GW really wants to set a pace like this, with one standard-sized release followed by a wave or two of finecrap and MAYBE some other models... Well, it makes me curious to see how they're going to pick up the pace.

They've got Quarter 4 earnings to make. They've got shareholders to appease, and if they don't release product then they're not going to earn money.

It's amazing too. They were doing so well for such a long period of time. Since... I'd say about when Warhammer Fantasy 8th edition hit they've had such a good flow of product. 8th edition sold well and they've gotten 5 army books updated since its release already, along with a supplement, and that's on top of big 40k releases like Dark Eldar, Grey Knights, Necron, and 6th edition.

Now, since Empire, we've had... 6th edition and a lot of 'meh'. A couple of fliers. A couple of daemons. It just seems so subpar. Why are they holding back? What do they gain for not having a new 40k army to go along with the new rules? Can't they tell that they've got hungry Chaos fans chomping at the bits? Can't they figure out that they've got money ready to be made?

I've learned enough about business, inventory, retail, the flow of capital assets and product, advertising... I know that there's something fishy going on....

    4. DA are in the Box doesnt that Point to DA first???

CSM dex being pushed back is just a speculation to make fals Rumors fit! Nothing suggests they are comeing anytime Soon besonders the constantly changeing rumor. First its Aug then Sept then Late Sept next it will be oct After that Nov & when they do come Out its "See the Rumors were 100% acurate" !!!! -_-

      Delete
    5. Yes nothig points out to CSM relase except that oct WD is full of CSM and not DA and oct BL relases are 4 CSM books not 4 DA boks. There are no DA before january get over it. -_-

      Delete
    6. Well we have a great deal of content for the CSM codex leaked, including point costs etc. It suggested some kind of change in our dreadnought before the hell brute was shown. I imagine we'll be seeing leaked pictures of it in the next week or two if it is coming out late sept.

Also new chaos units released in the starter. No new DA units. So we will require at least a WD update if not a new codex right around the corner. Add that to our with held flying support around the onset of 6th and there is a pretty good chance at a new codex soon. (I would go so far as to guess any army with out immediately released flyers should be seeing WD of new codex to fix the play gap.)

  16. Hmmm, some finecast Brets. This is of course good news and bad news. Good news for us Bret players that GW have remembered they exist, bad news because those Grail Knights now cost the same as about 2 boxes of KOTR. Still, at least they aren't "Blood Knights" expensive.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Eeesh, tell me about it! Blood knights were far to cumbersome in metal and cost almost a battle force in finecast :(

      Delete
    2. The old metal / finecast Hive Tyrant was expensive too (50€). Once they switched to plastic its ~42€ for a dual kit (I think it was even a bit cheaper before the general prize increase).

      Delete
    3. Yoo Thats the Magic of Finecast :D
But its going to be like that for a Lot o things in Future.... They have always Cut amount of plastic in a Box and upped prices. Just the Way ist Works :/

      Delete
  17. Well at least I'll have time to paint the box set CSM before the codex hits.

I also noticed the special weapons and special combat weapons sprues in there. I guess they're going to finecast Wonderfu! No really I hated the damned metal special weapon upgrades, which is why I rarely bought them. I hope they make a trend of this and start either including multiples of heavy weapons in boxes or release heavy weapon kits in finecast/plastic. Not that I'm holding my breath...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Does anyone know if the Sternguard Weapons are casts from the current box without the arms or new combi-bolter casts? Thanks, Igor

    ReplyDelete
  19. So, I didn't even know that Blood Angels Vanguard Vet model existed, another bit of Blood Angels kit I should be able to covert to Blood Ravens once I figure out what I'm doing with greenstuff.

I'm also intrigued by the Sternguard weapon kit? I'm assuming it's a set of combi weapons, in which case it's an entirely new product, no? Could also include stuff like heavy flamers that don't exist in power armor arm form outside of Legion of the Damned...that'll be an interesting one.

    ReplyDelete
  20. So I guess those rumours about the DE Void Raven and a few of the special characters coming out in the next little bit was a false rumour. Damn, need more salt next time :P
