Advance Orders are Up! Dark Vengeance


The Advanced Orders are up for several items; The Limited Edition Starter Set, Dark Vengeance Figure Case, Dark Vengeance- the novel, and The Ascension of Balthasar- A Dark Vengeance Audio Drama.

  8. Just saw the Price here in Australia. Absolute highway robbery $180 for the box set, $110 for the figure case. With the $AUS at $1.05 $US surely it would indicate that we should be paying less than half that amount.

    2. Are you serious? Your exchange rate sucks, your stores weren't making any money, your minimum wage is twice that of any other country (because of a terrible government policy), and shipping to and from AU is one of the biggest headaches on planet earth.

      Cost of liveing has nothing to do with minis Price.
      Companys in US & UK just like to Price it up abroad more than the other Way Around. American Car is priced up Way more in Germany than other Way Around. Thats becaus youre companys are to stupid to Set Establishment themselves on a market. Same for GW in Aus. The only reason GW is cheaper in UK is caus the market is more establisched & they want the Customer to Pay for that elswere in the World by priceing ist up. Wich is Ofc Counter productiv.   10. 65 GBP is still only $98 AUS. Getting quite annoyed at the (insert relevant expletive here) tax that we have to pay down under just for having great weather and a hobby we love. Now tell me it is not just about the money. Surely there are more GW hobbyists in Australia than there are in alot of EU

    5. There's a service that gives you a uk and us shipping address so you can buy stuff at the cheaper rate and then get it shipped to you. I'll find out what it is, my bro and old man use it for electronics and Lego mindstorm. Completely legal too. Think they get stuff up to 50% of the price here in oz.

      all the miniatures come from either the US or UK.
      and GW wont change that.

    1. Chaos have been getting a lot of stuff recent plus with CSM 99% being the next codex am sure GW felt it right to give DA this lil treat.

    2. I think she meant that forces list is unbalanced, DA have upper hand. Chaos Sorcerer could fill in the balance gap precisely, I totally agree with Christine. I dreamed about alternative 6thSS with bonus for Chaos, but have what we got from GW.

    3. It doesn't help that, imo, there are *plenty* of wonderful Chaplain models already out there. The Chaos Scorceror models are old, a little dated and a nowhere near as numerous.

      In fact, I count 9 (nine!!!) Chaplains available to Dark Angels, covering pretty much the whole range of weapon loadouts. Theres 3 Scorcerors, the age of which is really showing.

  16. Where's Porky Poster now? Surely he's going to tell us that these renditions of Chaos are "nothing new" or "still just marines with spikes." The best one was, "GW has had this technology for years, so we shouldn't be excited and/or give them our money."

    He was campaigning like a damn liberal trying to get us to believe rubbish and prevent us from buying the boxed set at all costs. He had a voice people enjoyed when GW was practicing poorly, but they've been rock-solid the last 12 months; especially so with 40k 6th.

  19. So...here's something odd:

    DA heroes in the box set. Has anyone noticed they are equipped nearly exactly as Azrael, Asmodai and Ezekial?

    Okay: power sword, big book, and bionic eye is obvious, so nuff said there.

    BUT--the basic captain comes with a winged helm, power sword, AND combi-plasma bolter? Wha?! (and he's actually wearing the helm! Double Wha?!)

    Oh, and presumably the artwork that inspired the 4th edition codex cover is Asmodai, and wouldn't you know it? Plasma pistol and two pointy daggers right at his crotch...

    Weird...dare I imagine that Games Workshop is offering us three completely substitutable plastic heroes from a BOXED set for our three main special characters (assuming Asmodai will be making a comeback, of course)? And if so...does that mean we shouldn't expect new sculpts for said IC's? Is this out of kindness for those of us who are poor, or is GW cutting corners? (or, third option: with new codex, those special characters will be equipped with completely new items, thereby making these boxed set ones obsolete...)

    3. Normally I'm not a stickler for the details but as a veteran Dark Angels player and fan I'm going to indulge myself.

      The DV Librarian only has a passing resemblence to Ezekiel. He has no representation of 'Deliverer' and his bionics are on his right socket, whereas Ezekiel lost his left eye.

  20. I get the whole price discussion, but hot damn look at those minis!

    The Chosen with the Power Maul has tentacles sprouting from his back that are *Reloading his Bolter* That's just awesome.

    It'll take an amazing mini for me to rethink making him my Dark Apostle.

  21. I'm going to say it as I see it on the models front:

    Apart from the Chosen and the Dark Angel's Librarian and Captain, which are amazing. The rest of the models (with the possible exclusions of the Ravenwing dudes and the bizarre Chaos Lord model who can't even lift his own power sword) are all quite poor and sadly are just a disappointemt to me.

    The terminators and tac squad especially look rather ropey and not fully realised. The Helbeast has one of the most poorly realised gun arms I have ever seen on a model of it's size - it looks like a chode hand not a cannon.

    The cultist I dislike also, as the only good ones are totally borrowed from the excellent forgeworld cultists, the others and the leader especially look stupid and represent very little imagination on behalf of the model designers.

    I am still loving 6th edition, I hated 5th and I love 90% of the new 40k models GW produce - I just know sh*te when I see it.

  23. Just ordered mine. These look amazing the only thing I hate about the mins u get with the sets it's they are almost completely assembled witch makes painting harder. Because I like to paint my mins with arms and sholder pads off. But the pure sex appeal of these models is making up for it now to go get my sleeping bag and snaks and go sleep out at the post office for my delivery lol

  26. As many of you, my fellows, I'm glad to share that I've ordered my copy of starter set too. Can't decide what to do with DA force yet, another turmoil I have is around which Chaos warband of mine (I have Slaaneshi devoted host and few units of Thousand Sons) will have this incredible reinforcement.

    Let me start a kind of poll here:
    How do think, which traitor legion could these CSMs belong too?

    They definitely look like Tzinch Chosen for me, though some Chaos Undivided icons make them very suitable for Word Bearers host. Just my 2c.

    3. I've read many books where Tzeentch servants themselves become mutated. He does tempt with offers of power and foresight. I think thousand sons cultists would be entirely appropriate. As sacrifices or even thralls for the sorcerers.

  32. I can't get past the price of this box-set in Australia - It is a joke!

    AOBR was $95 on release and now Dark Vengeance is $180. A slight increase in price is justified, but there is no justification for that much of a price increase other than greed.

    As an Australian I don't expect any sympathy, but don't think I don't have a right to complain, you would if the shoe was on the other foot.
