New Sisters of Battle Models

It has been a long while since we have had anything in the rumor mill about Sister's of Battle, and I have been sitting on this one for a couple days. The rumor says that these models have been for some time, and just waiting for a release. However with no real release date known, it could still be some time.

Please remember that these are rumors. If this rings true, it may be quite a long time before we see these.

I thought I would drop a small update on what I know.

Anyway, here goes:
On the HQ side we are getting a re-sculpt of the Arch-Confessor in finecast, and finecast versions of everyones favorite angel.

There is a new finecast cannonness model that comes with several hand options. As mentioned before there is a mini box of a priest in plastic.

There are also four new HQ choices, all in finecast. I did not get to see them put together, only on the sprue, so their poses and overall how good they look is hard to tell. One was of some sort of priest guy with a massive ornate chainsaw sword (The chainsaw blade goes down both sides). Another one was a sister (Cannonness?) with a jump pack and a respirator as well as two flammer pistols. The model is quiet tall as she has some sort of robe thing the goes down to the base, holding her aloft. I personally think long robes make no sense when you are using a jetpack, but hey, maybe its fireproof. It is the future after all. The last one is a sister/cannonness in a casual pose with a combimelta.

The sisters repenta are getting re-sculpted (and are less nekkid though still not armored), but will be finecast, not plastic. Apparently repenting also requires you to shave your head.

There will be a total of three new plastic boxes with which I am told the player can make seven possible units out of for the infantry types.

The penitent engine box also apparently makes two different units, though I suppose they will both be large walking murder machines. One is a large murder machine that is really good at melta/flaming things but can also chop stuff up, the other is really good at chopping stuff up, but can also flammer/melta things.

The rhino kit makes the four sisters rhino based vehicles. Well, five if you count the rhino itself I suppose. Several new vehicles actually. I just could not tell what some were supposed to be because they were still on the sprue. So I dont want to speculate.

I mean vehicles other then the rhino with some stuff on top type vehicles. They have the rhino set, the sinner killer robot set, and two other sets. That I know of.

Oh, sisters are getting plasma guns and plasma cannons, and so is one of their tanks. Well, the cannon.

But when you buy your new sisters models, whenever they come out (I don't know when that will be, no), look at the copywrite stamp. They have been done for a while now.

  1. This is the best news I've heard all week. I want to collect a small sisters army so I can use them as allies to my Space Marines but the old models were putting me off.

  3. Between this and allies I think I'm going to have to take my SoB out of storage. Gonna give them a try tomorrow with some SW for psychic defense.

  4. As long as GW can overcome their propensity to sculpt women to look like transvestites, I'm down to buy & paint up an ally force.

    2. GW should make female IG troopers. Why it does not? Also... why only white soldiers in the IG?

    3. Im pretty sure if you took them time you could paint them any race....

    5. hey mostro, have a look at the catachan army box - 2 black dudes on it ;)

still youre absolutely right - there only are "caucasian" models in WD and codexes!

  5. Now call me a know nothing know it all, but if GQ has these models ready, and we heard rumors about it last year, what possible marketing scheme would make sense to leave the models sat in a warehouse with none of your customers aware they even exist!?!? Surely the best way to sell models, and thus make money, is to put the damn things on sale!?!?

As a sisters player who hasn't seen a new model/unit in about six years, I find this rumour more irritating than exciting.

    2. Maybe they, wisely, figured no one is going to rush out and buy the new models till the sisters have a decent codex and are waiting on that.

      Delete
    3. They could have just seen the proof sprues from the finished molds. If GW wasn't ready for them, the molds could be sitting and waiting for orders from GW to start producing.

    4. I agree, this is the same old rumor from a year ago, with some added bull about the rhino(s). More irritated than really even interested. Too many years of GW experience to be excited about anything they or this design studio does (Dreadfleet, dreadknight, flying potato, random is fun, etc.).

    5. potentially it could be they were waiting for the release of 6th editon and then do a complete reboot of sisters with a new codex and models, from my point of view it makes complete buisness sense.

  6. But sisters still have to be played through white dwarf update(s) and as far as I have heard they are horrible

so thats from stopping me, no matter how fantastic new models look

I really do hope that this means a new codex as well.

  11. Impossibru! SoB can never get new models! NEVER!

  12. Unless they are getting a new Codex, I can't see some of these models. A Cannoness no longer has access to a jump pack and there are only 3 Rhino chassis tanks in the current Codex, the Rhino, the Immolater, and the Exorsist.

    1. Remember 6th ed. was in the works when the White Dwarf codex came out - maybe it was only ever supposed to be a "stop-gap" to bring them into line with 5th ed., with a proper codex planned for after 6th was published?

      Delete
    2. Maybe the WD codex was only the units we had already from a new codex yet unreleased. Maybe thats why it seems "thin" and "uncomplete".

      Delete
    3. The WD Crapdex was only to eliminate WH allies from lists by giving an "official" replacement of some sort. It also upped sales of the leftover Sisters minis that GW was stuck with in their warehouse.

Given that, they actually make a fun allied force if you can fit them in. Nothing wrong with a Battle Sister squad for the troop then you can choose one of the named individuals as your HQ and another appropriate choice. Seraphim are fun, so would a kitted out Crusader/Death Cult squad. Especially since you could model the DCs with power sword + power axe to get two CCW and choose to use the AP:3 I:User or AP:2 I:1 depending on what you are fighting.

      Delete
  13. You could class the immolator as 3 different types if you broke them down to heavy bolter, heavy flamer, and multi-melta versions to equal a total of 5, but he said that's not what he meant.

The people over on Heresy-online also kinda tore him a new one saying they didn't believe the rumors, and even a few said they knew it wasn't true.

No point in talking about the WD codex and using the new models because they would release a new codex if they made a new range of models. They aren't stupid, they would want people to go buy all the new models after all.

    ReplyDelete
  14. They will not release such a big wave of models without a new codex and although it was a pretty bad WD one(I guess, not a SoB player), they already got one.
With so many of the "bigger" armies in the line for a 6th edition update I doubt we will see those (if at all) in the near future.

Now if I could wish for something, maybe a new codex with minor factions like SoB or Mechanicum...

  15. I guess this means its time to stock up on Sisters Repentia so I can enjoy my scantly clad ladies.

  17. Well, late 2013 is the earliest I can see this dropping, unless as some have suggested, an omnibus book drops. I doubt GW will do a collected book any time soon. they once tried it and they couldn't keep it up for 2 years running. GW, as a company, is fairly schizophrenic.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Plastic sisters? Pinch me, for I must be dreaming. Better yet, never ever wake me from this beautiful mirage.
Not sure about plasma on sisters, as it seems to break the holy trinity of guns (melta, bolter, flamer), but I guess we'll see.
On the downside, the mounted sororita squad I am currently building will be unlikely to get official rules.

    1. Any picture of this project of yours?

When I see how well those sell on ebay and all the love people seem to have for them, I don't understand why GW has let them down for so long.
I was actually relieved to see them in the rulebook.

Nuns with guns! Come on, GW, make them fierce and delicate as DE and you won't be able to make enough of them so much you will sell them.

The old codex illustrations were so awesome. I hope the new models, if they ever come out, will benefit from it.

      Delete
    2. Once I am done with them I will take some pictures, assuming they look any good. Just imagine lance-bearing sororitas on the mounts of Questing Knights and you have a solid idea of Squad Emminence.
In all honesty, I had not expected the new rulebook to actually contain anything about the sisters, so I, too, was pleasently surprised when I saw them. Actually, 'pleasently surprised' might be good term to describe my reaction to most of the fluff in that book.
I suspect Sisters were left floundering for so long because GW either hates making money (see the lack of Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus, which would sell like hotcakes) or has no idea were to take them thematically, because everything they do, other imperial factions can do better as of yet.
Second Edition Codex: Aeptus Sororitas' cover was the reason I picked up SoB, to tell the truth. Plate-clad, arsonist nuns in high heels? Yes, please.

  22. I really hope they find a way to make the various male priest units look cool and integrated into the army this time around. I really like the sisters but I always found the difference between the actual battle sisters and the church units to be a negative.

Can't wait for new battle sisters and perhaps more importantly all new units to expand their very limited roster.

Do you think they'll do another WD update to give the new units stats or just keep holding the models until we see a new Sisters of Battle codex?

    ReplyDelete
  23. SoB will only get a pdf WD update they aren't considered a money maker army jus enough to keep em relevant Imho

    ReplyDelete
  24. Right now GW is loosing money, in their eyes at least, to 3rd party manufactures producing units for their game like, such as Chapterhouse and others. To combat this they are making an effort to have every unit in a new Codex released within a year of the new codex's release, with the releases being front loaded.

Units that do not make the final cut for the codex will released as a kit with a white dwarf article for their stats. Owners of the digital codex's will be able to update their digital codex to include the new unit.

Over all the release scheduled is really ramping up in 2013.

    2. The latest 'official' on the Sisters was at the Australian GD and that ultimately boils down to 'they are not squatted'. You know, the exact same thing they have been saying for the last decade.
I personally think that even 2014 is being unrealistic. Try 15 - 16.
