Admech, 30k, Assassins, and Sisters of Battle........ You Don't Want to Miss This.

This is the motherload of information tonight. There is a lot of good news here, as well as some rather sad news for Sister's of Battle. It seems that Sister's of Battle (adeptus Sororitas) may not be on the list of things coming this year.

This is a compilation of the latest rumors going on right now as we speak!

I want to thank Drbored for compiling a lot of this. We will following any further developments on these rumors. Notice the Admech....... The Skitarii are coming.

Please remember that these are all rumors. Hastings has always been very solid, and a great resource for the what is coming in the future.

via 75hastings69
Right guys there are several separate rumours that folks are getting mixed
up. So I'll at least split it up a little for you. THIS IS NOT RELEASE
ORDER, just to help separate the rumours. IT ALSO ISN'T A FULL LIST OF THIS
YEARS 40K RELEASES, in fact some of these may be early next year. NONE OF
THESE ARE WFB BASED.

Admech Codex & models (full release)
***** Codex & Models (Harlequin sized release)
***** Codex & Models (Harlequin sized release)
***** Standalone Boxed "historical game" models from which will form part
of "a full range" (notice I didn't say existing range )
***** Standalone Boxed Game models from which will form part of an existing
range

I haven't heard anything about mark 9 armour so don't associate it with any
of the above.

Hastings and Lords of War Gaming also said Sisters of Battle will not be
coming out this year at all, LoWG on their Facebook and Hastings on Warseer.

Question by drbored on Warseer (hastings response is afterwards)
Sad about Sisters, but let's work on the rest of these.
When you say 'Harlequin-sized release' you mean in terms of number of kits?
So it COULD be a main codex (like Space Marines or whatevs) getting about
as many models as the Harlequins got, or are we talking about smaller
forces like the Militarum Tempestus and Harlequin-style releases with new
Codices?

Also I think it's pretty clear that the 'full range' is going to become
GW's plastic 30k stuff, which means the boxed 'historical game' is going to
be Horus Heresy based, or am I just off the mark?

75hastings69 Response
I mean Harlequin sized as in number of kits, i.e. a few characters, a
troops kit, a larger kit and a transport. Or thereabouts One kind of has a
main codex, kind of, and it's been mentioned on this very thread. The other
has also been mentioned on another thread, the one that got moved for not
having any news or rumours in.... even though it actually contained quite a
bit. In fact I suppose you might say the 2nd has a main codex too (kind of)

You sir are on the mark

It's HH as stated above.

I think there's a misunderstanding here. BOTH new standalone games will have their model contents released. The first being HH, will see models released as part of the 30k range. The 2nd boxed game models will be released as part of 40k range, part that is currently only available in finecast and not deathwatch before anyone says it again.

second 'box game' is based on Officio Assasinorum.

I'm honestly really hoping that Chaos Space Marines gets some attention. Let's get some properly sized Plague Marines, updated Khorne Berzerkers, and Noise Marines and Thousand Sons that aren't half Finecast, kthxbai

Also thanks 75hastings, this is awesome stuff and makes me pretty excited for the future!
Oh they will

Hastings Response
But not as part of the stuff in this thread, well unless you count the bad SM as CSM? (if you know what I mean)

I have heard that there might be a plastic GD, plastic daemons, and plastic CSM kit for a certain god at some point later this year (and no it's not Khorne!)

Hastings Wrapping things up
So from the list we have:-
Admech Codex & models (full release)
**** Codex & models (Harelquin sized release already mentioned on thread)
**** Codex & models (Harelquin sized release already mentioned on thread)
HH Standalone box game, on sale for a few months, then models become part of 30k range.

Assassins Standalone box game, on sale for a few months, then models become part of the 40k range.

Not Arbites, Not CSM in any form, subtract from those listed. Although I did say that DA might get an update AND that there may be a 40k release of a GD, Deamons and CSM for a god that isn't Khorne at some time later in the year.

Deathwatch
Genestealer Cult

Then separately DA & Tzeentch type stuff. Oh but don't rule out the missing GDs etc. they're all done

Two are due out this year (greater daemons) AFAIK, and we've seen pics of 1

I will just reiterate I DO NOT KNOW THE TIMEFRAME of these releases, I've been out of the loop for some time. I can only assume that Lords of Wargaming have the Apr/May Admech correct (I'd heard April) but I've no idea of the schedule or indeed order of the other stuff.

I guess Patriarch, Magus, Hybrids, and Limo might just about make that a Harlequin sized release?

Totally (well not totally actually) unrelated I did hear that actual CODEXes? (CODices?) god know s the plural, might soon be a thing of the past. with all rules being in box leaflets. Some might even contain 2 sets of rules, one for 40k and one for 30k  But I'm not 100% on this.

via Harry on Warseer (trying to clear up the Mark 9 armour debate that keeps coming back)
I think I can clear this one up.
It would seem duffybear heard a rumour about new space marines. He naturally assumed these were what came next .... mark 9
However it did not occur to him that what his rumour was about was what came before .....

I think these rumours ARE part of the same thing.

I think Duffy's rumours are about the new space marines for THIS .... for 30K
So that would make it not mark 9 but something like Mark 3 / Mark 4 ? armour. (Or whatever armour it was 30K ...someone will have to help me out with that)

The armour is a simpler, earlier version of the power armour we all know and love.
It looks a bit like something Tony Stark might have knocked up in the desert.

    3. Yeah I hope if plastic 30k stuff is coming it will be distinct from the forgeworld stuff, some mk V armour (described as “heresy” pattern cobbled together from whats available; gives options for new stuff) and maybe a very plain looking contemptor or a contemptor varient,id like that, but if its just straight copies from forgeworld alot of people with heresy armies are gonna feel a bit cheated

      Delete
    4. I wouldn't feel cheated; I doubt GW can make heresy models that look as good as FW's

TLDR: plastic contemtor/admech/thunderhawk and possibly something else. (super salty wishlist but ultimate crackgasm if true)

    1. GW could simply let FW have access to some software and production on an injection molding machine. Injection molding can knock out hundreds of kits a day if not thousands, freeing up all the resin mould space from the kits they replace.
All FW would need is a pc in the office with the digital software on.

      Delete
    2. Well, I'm not saying any of it is true, but you should think of it this way:

-Forge World kits are hand poured resin. Their molds wear out over time and their prices are high because there is more overhead. While margins on something like a Thunderhawk or a Titan may be big, margins on resin infantry models are lower than on plastic models. If they are selling enough of those kits that they are switching to plastic, then they are spending a lot of time and resources on them with diminishing returns compared to clearing the space for more boutique items and selling them in plastic.

Again, could all be rubbish, but from a business standpoint it makes sense. I just hope they come out with a plastic mk1 rhino.

      Delete
    3. it could also be a way to stifle the Chinese re-casters from stealing a vast amount of HH sales, after all who doesn't like plastic better. But at what price, just keep GW central away from the game itself.

      Delete
    4. Except GW is better at marketing, mass production, and rules writing than FW. They should definitely dip into it, so long as they don't directly cannibalize existing FW models.

      Delete
    5. I think the main issue is that Forgeworld alone can't move the storyline quickly enough to keep pace with the Black Library. We haven't even made it to The Battle for the Abyss in the FW books, yet BL is way passed that.

By getting GW proper involved with the core plastics we can probably expect a dramatic quickening of the pace with the books while FW focuses on the fringe units that go along with each faction that becomes fully fleshed out. Neither GW nor FW need to cannabalize each other.

      Delete
    6. Well in all honnesty black library had about a 6 year if not longer head start on forge world.

      Delete
    7. 30k would just replace 40k if it was produced in plastic for everyone.
That is assumeing plastic would be cheaper, than FW resin.

      Delete
    8. That is the dumbest thing ive ever heard seb.

      Delete
    9. Why? Did xwing or warmachine not replace the 40k growd in some places?

If you play 30k you wont spend money on 40k. So all it does is replace 40k.
Also you wont play against players that came with their 40k Army. So some will leave the Hobby.

    3. Brian is mostly correct. I am not just annoyed about SoB though. We have seen a lot of options stripped out of codexes, presumably because they have no model, while GW produces kits (and sometimes bad kits... I'm looking at you mono-pose bs) totally out of left field.

  9. Sounds really cool. A 30K Boxed Set with plastic marines would be the perfect way to transition people into buying Forge World models and it would be the perfect time to start carrying Forge World in GW stores and on there website. Hastings doesn't really post rumors, so no salt needed. Going to be an exciting year!

    1. Except last week the Forge World teams all stated that GW stores wouldn't stock FW

      Delete
    2. if they make it plastic its GW then but still skeptical.

      Delete
    3. I'm skeptical about it too, but it WOULD make some sense to transition the heresy stuff to be more mainstream. it's immensely popular (to the point FW may be having trouble keeping up with demand. and IMHO "people are ordering so much of this we can't keep up" is a strong case for shifting your development for something from the boutique brand to the main label) I think it's worth noting that the HH stuff is pretty popular. in fact the HH novels are as I understand it, almost the flagship of Black Library these days, I could totally see GW bean counters stepping back and asking ".... why aren't we mainstreaming this?"

      Delete
    4. So my thoughts on why 30k wont be brought into GW.
1.Neutering your own subsidiary company is a silly move for everyone.
      2. 30k only really apeals to imperial and chaos players. And not even all of them.
      3. Not all stores have enough space to stock the marine heavy range you want them to stock. (If gw supplied them it would be direct order so no difference in postage.)
      4. The design teams of gw and fw are diferent as they are trained to design with resin moulds in mind, whilst gw use injection.
      5. It would slow production, and creation of all gws other products down.
      6. Not everyone who collects the hh reads it and vi versa so its not a good thing to base it on, infact I am led to believe a great mmany more people read the books then play/collect in its entireity

Take it in mind this is how I see it, and have been informed by "others" Any informed disputes are welcome.

      Delete
    5. Pretty sure GW will only see the imidiat cashgrab. Its bad for 40k in long Term to have competition in house.

I for one dont intend to build a nother slightly diffrent Marine Army.

I welcome plastic minis as they are so much easier to work with but I don't trust GW 40kcentric designers to deliver the kind of experience I am acustomed to. I kinda wish they would leave it to FW but I am happy to be proven wrong.

  20. The HH line is *the* moneymaker for FW, I don't realy see why they would introduce a long lasting 30k plastic line of models.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It costs pennies to produce a sprue once the tooling for molds are done. Margins on resin aren't nearly as good. Plus, the molds don't last as long. It makes perfect sense.

      Delete
    2. There's also the benefit of CAD design for the plastic molds that makes each component fit together perfectly.

      Delete
  21. I still feel like GW is losing out big time by shelving Sororitas (again/still?). Even a 'mini release' publishing a troop box and a few transports like they did for Harlequins would be a massive moneymaker, essentially revamping an entire army line if they were to do similarly for Sisters.

I for one am looking very closely at the Raging Heroes kickstarter as an alternative way to breathe fresh life into an unsupported line.

  22. Maybe we'll see some Unification Wars/Great Crusade stuff: early 30k. Wouldn't eat into FWs HH stuff too much but still be compatible with everything else.

  25. Well Nightfury did say within the next 18 months for a sisters release, which sounds about right because if they have only just started production of the kits, they like to hang on to them for a year or so.

Don't the Harlequin frames have 2013 production stamps? I honestly don't know as I'm waiting until I get paid on Friday.

Really hope the Ad Mech stuff is true as it would save me a hell of a lot of converting, go nicely with my Forgeworld stuff and probably inspire me to convert more stuff to go with it (I'm looking at you Boneripper)

Genestealers cults makes sense an what with the Quin dex release its entirely plausible.

Dark Angels vs Chaos was rumoured as the next campaign wasn't it? Makes sense as they are now the two oldest Codexes (physical codexes) + it gives GW an excuse to flog more Dark Vengeance boxes also if Daemons get involved then you have your third campaign faction and can update the Daemon codex with the new Lord of Change.

Horus Heresy in plastic is a strange one though...
