These types of emails have been filling my inbox today, as more and more news of Tau delays are coming to the forefront. It seems that Tau are much more popular than was predicted.
I am posting up a couple of the emails that are incoming, just to help give the heads up on what we might be seeing on Tau release day. Can you imagine seeing people camped out at stores like they do for the latest iphones?
It seems the word is finally getting out and retailers everywhere are in a pinch. Pins of War just a short time ago posted the announcement form Wayland Games and Showcase Comics and Games. It seems that everyone across the board might end up being affected.
The Cause? Its being reported that GW simply did not make enough Tau. Odds are that many of you out there on release day, will only have the codex available.

For European customers:
Due to exceptional demand for Tau Empire miniatures, any orders that contain the following products will not be fulfilled until Monday 8th April at the earliest:

Note that if your order contains other products, they will be delayed until these Tau Empire miniatures are back in stock and your items can be sent together. Orders that were placed before 4pm on Tuesday 2nd April are not affected.
For those of you who urgently desire to join the cause for the Greater Good, head to your local Hobby Centre this Saturday - they will have limited numbers of these Tau Empire miniatures in stock.

Wanted to give you a heads up. My independent retailer here in the USA was informed that all of his orders are delayed! Preference to order filling will be their own retail stores and the GW website. So we should all be ready to wait.

“Games Workshop called today to inform me that they have "dropped the ball" on Tau, and therefore no orders for Plastic miniatures can be completed this week. Naturally I flipped a gnoblar and am working with them to try get stock in ASAP, but atm, on Saturday, we will only have Finecast & Codexes. I'm sorry for this delay, and I hope to get it resolved as soon as I can.”

GW's EU page now has a statement about it and apparently it is only affecting EU customers, but I find that surprising also as I had the impression that they make all the miniatures here...!

Games Workshop Plc have informed us that there will be a delay to all UK retail outlets in receiving stock of the New Tau release.
We expect to receive stock around the 15th April and will dispatch it upon its arrival.
We are pleased that Tau have been such a successful release but surprised and puzzled that UK retail outlets are receiving no stock, and disappointed on behalf of our customers.
We are trying to work closely with Games Workshop to resolve the situation as soon as possible.

I just got off the phone with GW. At first I thought it was a bad, and late, april fools joke. But its really happening.
They didn’t make enough Tau. They shipped it to their Retail Stores. They took orders and sold it through mailorder.
When they ship orders to FLGS, they start with the furthest away, who need 3-4 days. And they ran out.
Most stores aren’t getting anything but the Codex. My stores that has carried GW for 25 years are some of those.
Might be a week, might be 2 or 3. No one has an answer.
