Thunderhawk Re-Entry Failure

Last week I had dropped a Raider and snapped its 17 year old base. Drops can be devastating, and there must be something about that pain that resonates within our hobby.

Here is a pic that was sent in of a custom Thunderhawk that had fallen to its doom. Thomas, I hope it went back together without too many issues.

  1. A few years ago, my land raider crusader fell onto the hardwood floor. That hurt so bad. After I put it back together, I went and got a thick, plush, rug for under my table. When they dropped, it saved me time and heartache.

    ...unless it missed the rug!

    1. A couple years ago, a buddy of mine dropped his LR Crusader (the older part metal one) in a parking lot. Never did find all the bits for the sponsons...

  2. Friend of mine had about $3000 worth of assorted models in boxes. Lets just say he lived in hurricane territory. One day a flood came. He had already packed and left with everything...except his models which he forgot. He returned to find $3000 worth of models drenched in boxes.

He still uses them to this day.

    1. Wow what a bitch. I would have promptly served her up with the bill to get the models replaced and repainted. That would have taught her a little something about throwing hissy fits.

    2. I just would of filed a lawsuit, drag her ass into court.... with a smile of course.

After all a painted chapter very easily is worth many thousands of dollars.

    3. Well, after all even just 1000 tactical marines would cost 3000 euros at GW's current list price. Never mind all the vehicles, or that assault marines are more expensive than tacticals, and so forth.

But one has to wonder what kind of a sick and demented person would go on such a destruction spree anyway. An obvious court matter regardless, thousands of dollars not to mention most likely thousands of hours (assuming all were painted and such) gone poof.

  4. Not as tragic but more annoying and fiddly; I used to keep my collection of bits in one segregated tool box that was about 3ft x 1ft x 1ft big (25 years of collection).

I flipped the lid open and the cat decide to jump on the lid catapulting my bits box contents across the lounge. 3 hours to pick up all the bits, 4 days to sort back out.

2 weeks later I then dropped it down the stairs and had to do it all again. I bought separate boxes the same day...

  5. This kit bash seems interesting, is there a place where we can see pre crash pictures?

  9. Had a buddy whose house burned down. Everyone was okay, but his models were in one of the rooms where the fire was hottest. His RT dreadnaught melted into slay. He used it for. His fire dragon exarch's base since you could still see a little bit of what it had been before.

  10. Not me but at a local club I used to go to a while ago a guy bought his hierophant bio-titan in to play an apoc game with his friend. Suffice to say he deployed it near the edge and he accidentally knocked it off the table the resin splintered and there were pieces everywhere such a shame to it was such a pretty model
