There has been a lot of rumors about an Eldar release, and you cannot really have a complete discussion about Eldar without talking about the new Jetbikes.

While last night we had a description about what the new eldar jetbikes are looking like, it was time to go grab these old sculpts of a work in progress eldar jetbike. Now I am expecting that these are progressed into something much grander (like the Dark Eldar ones), but here is the pic.

Thanks to readers for sending in copies of this pic.

  2. This is old... like before the Dark Eldar update I remember seeing this. Seems like such a long time ago... Its going to be good to finally get my hands on them. I always stayed clear of jetbikes for fear of them coming out and having to buy them again so this will be the beginnings of a new wing to my webway raiders.

    1. Agreed - I have plenty of them now so I may updated for IC's, but I'm not replacing the ones I have now. Already did the conversions for SC underneath.

  3. I strongly suspect that, if they are going to use this model, that they have been sitting on it for along time. Like they did with Farsight.

But I would be very happy if this is what the new bikes look like.

  4. I actually have a couple conversions I did from Dark Eldar Reavers that I did on my blog that resemble the prototype model that was shown back in 2008.

Might give an idea what the new Eldar ones will look like.

  5. Nice conversions Aksenseth. :)

On the topic of new bikes, I really have my fingers crossed on the models as well as the rules. I just want them to be more than 3 man objective/line breaker grabbers at the end of game. An 18" shuriken catapult would be the best place to start.

  6. I have serious doubt that new jetbikes will be released. There is already a model... Doesn't fit in to what they have done with other 6th Ed releases. Crisis Suits anyone?

With the quickness of releases I haven't lost all hope for some new kits refreshing old. Maybe next year? Maybe after they sell the company?

    1. Fair enough, but remember the Dark Eldar ones got replaced, so this isn't all too unlikely.

    2. The difference between Crisis suits and Eldar Jetbikes is that when you bought a crisis suit you had all the options to make pretty much anything you wanted. The only thing you couldn't do was make twin linked weapons. But once you have multiples you now have the option to make any unit configuration that crisis suits have available.

This isn't the case with Eldar Jetbikes. Making a unit of Eldar Jetbikes with full upgrades is daunting. There is now GW model for a warlock currently. Additionally to get the squad leader you have to buy a whole different resin kit.

Think of it like the Broadside. The broadside wasn't it's own model. It was a single model that had a resin upgrade kit and still didn't contain all the options in one box to make the unit you really wanted. So they made a new one.

    3. The other big thing to consider when thinking about the Jetbikes is they are one of the oldest models in production. I am 35 now and I started playing when I was 13 (so 22 years ago in the middle) and those Jetbikes were old when I started playing. I would be SHOCKED if the new ones dont get released especially since it is rumored that they are a combo pack with Shining Spears (so essentially would be redoing two kits in one).

If they DO redo that kit I REALLY hope there is an option for a plastic Warlock in the kit. Nothing more irritating then trying to saw through the metal figs and having a crap tonne of green stuff to make the robes over his/her legs. Also I cant wait lol.

  7. I would not be surprised if this exact model is what ends up being released in June along with a few other poses. The Commander Farsight model was essentially the exact model that we'd seen leaked YEARS earlier from some Games Day or another. This also is a model that I'd seen years ago as well. If this is the new Eldar Jetbike then I'm happy for it because that looks kind of awesome.

    1. This is exactly what I was going to say.

I expect to see those jetbikes in just over a month.

  8. I dislike a leaned forward Eldar jetbike. Firstly it makes the DE ones fluff seem less significant (the need for speed and all) and besides I like the more flying cavalry of the existing Eldar bike.

    1. This. I loved the old bikes, but hated the rider. The Harley Davison seating gave them an air of superiority, as though they were merely surveying the landscape.
