Never going to happen. I had a meeting with the head of licensing when I was over at The Horus Heresy Weekender and I can tell you he said in no uncertain terms that GW will NEVER license its miniature games. Even the ones it is not producing. It is clear competition at their core product lines."

    1. Who needs a licence? Change some of the terminology and its no longer copyright infringement. What's GW gonna do? Try to say it owns elves, dwarves and football? :-P

    2. in the past, GWS under license if miniature games to others, so it would not be unusual to do it again

    3. I had a discussion with a FF rep last year, and he told me that FF is allowed to use the IP of GW, but in no way is allowed to bring 28mm miniatures which could compete on the same market as GW.
hence what they did on the 40K 'Talisman' game, Relic.
So even though it is possible that FF is going to release a BB game, it will not be with mini that could be use with GW products.
The guy was pretty clear. The event I spoke to him was at the last Games Day.

  2. Unless it was marketed as a board/card game. They already have the inquisition board game and the horus heresy board game (which i will always regret not buying). With pitch included it does seem to fit the bill and would be more easily deceminated to an audience. Look at the dreadfleet fiasco, and ask what would have happened if that had been a board game release and not a gw box release.

  3. Also, dont fantasy flight already make a blood bowl card game? Based on managing a team?

  4. No offense, but "never" is a terrible word for any business to be in the business of using. GW had better understand that the market is ever in flux, and adaptation to the market is key. If GW sees a chance for a license to make money, they should take it.

  5. The Fantasy Flight Licence, as far as I am aware, specifically forbidds them from produseing models that could compeate with GW models.

This is why Relic shipped with busts were normal Talisman ships with minis.

Maybe they can make the bloodbowl teams diffrent enough in some way that they are allowed to make the game? Diffrent Size? Busts? etc?

    1. This is correct. The terms are that FFG cannot produce any games with components that could be used as, or mistaken for, GW miniatures.

  7. What exactly do you guys think Blood Bowl miniatures will compete with? It's not like a bunch of Wood Elf Miniatures would look great for someone's Wood Elf Army...

  8. They can still release blood bowl with cards and welcome players to use GW miniatures...

  9. note: if BB doesnt have actual miniatures, it would loose a lot of interest from me. I dont just play for the rules set, I like the hobby side of the game as well.
So if it is correct that FF is releasing BB, I will be worried. I d rather have GW doing it, but that is a very personal point of view.

  10. I would much rather have Games Workshop release new and updated versions of the Specialist Games.

Bring back Battlefleet Gothic, with all plastic ships, and Necromunda, with all plastic multi-part many options sprues. Same for Mordheim. In this age of big kits, Apocalypse and Forge World Titans, games like Epic and Warmaster are not so necessary.

Though I would wholeheartedly support any Games Workshop move into a Kickstarter to create 15mm 40K armies and terrain which just uses the normal 40K rules. Have true scale Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines too.
I better stop now. I'm starting to foam at the mouth.

  11. GW don't need to release blood bowl if its not a special edition with special board miniatures. They have the rules up on the GW website for anyone to download and make your own board and army using your hobby skills.
