Dark Angels Videos: Good Look at the New Releases

Three videos showing the models off were released this morning, giving us the best look at the models to date. Interesting that they broke it all down to three separate videos for these models, but that works too. So here they are.

  1. I was going to start them, but then I saw those new prices and didn't want to anymore. The minis look cool at least.

    1. i completely agree with you! I did a double-take to make sure I wasn't looking at Australia prices.
I am concerned that GWS may be getting too greedy with their asking prices and stand a very good chance at losing A LOT of customers (me included). I am a Dark Angles player who might simply sell them if the codex is written in such a manner that puts me in a position that I need to buy a 75.00 flyer. I AM AT THE TIPPING POINTS, FRIENDS!

    3. These prices make me feel sick. I don't want to quit warhammer, I really don't.

    4. Then get a better job that pays more. If you're still at school, work hard to get good grades so when you leave school you can get a good job. People have been whining about the GW price tag for decades now, usually with the 'you'll lose customers/go bankrupt' argument. Guess what, they've grown massively during that time. Yes they make money, it's a business not a charity, that's what businesses do.

    5. Dear Dan... when the price for something (the same product, so I'm speaking about the same model) is being raised faster than inflation it's being raised too fast (on the long run none will ever be able to afford it, money is a limited resource).
About the whole "Then get a better job that pays more." I find it a bit offensive. There are people that don't have one (like some of my friends) due to the economical crisis. Also I love my job, I don't want to change it. Of course I can't have everything and need to take hard decisions... but please... don't ask me to be happy about it. Rather point out how happy I will be to see such models on the table.

    6. Dan, Thank you is all i can say to that comment to peoples responces around prices. things always get more expensive and about 80% of the time above inflation/ cost of living. your responce to those comments priceless and put a smile on one readers face.

but to the orginal poster i am sure your right but is that not the constraint on us all if we all wanted to do each army?

  2. If your gonna start a new army cause you only have 1 army to play that's okay, if your gonna start Dark Angels cause you have been along time veteran player of Dark Angels then I respect you more, but if your gonna band wagon jump here and there your not to smart and will accomplish nothing but money outta your pocket and into theirs because you have no control use your brains.

    1. 2nd edition Dark Angel veteran here. I agree with everything you just said. Have an upvote....wait...

    2. Its a shame how much these cost now, but its not going to stop me buying them as DA is my army. Check the name...

    3. Why do people get so cynical when a new army comes out? What's wrong with thinking the new models are cool, so it's high time to start that Deathwing army you've always wanted? Why does it have to be viewed as 'band wagon jumping'?

      Delete
    4. Because unfortunately most go "Ooh Dark Angels are out lets see how I can make a deathstar army with the latest and greates toys!" For me I can add some of the DW Knights for my BT army and get my DA successor chapter (Void Jackals) from Deathwatch up and running to full speed (been DA for 6 months)

    5. At long last I can use my home boys again! Bolters, Bathrobes, and BEYOND! lol

Why is it ok if you only have one army or are a veteran DA player?!? Anyone should be able to play ANY army they want. Who really cares how many armies a person buys? Does it affect you in any way if someone buys an army when they already have multiple armies? Does it affect you in any way if a person buys an army that they barely use or never use? All this rage over "bandwagon jumping" is pointless and stupid, it doesn't affect anyone other than the person buying the army. Get over yourself and realize it's a game that people can buy ANYTHING they want to use from the miniatures range.

    8. Because you seem wishy washy and no direction in life or focus just kinda floating here and floating there and the only one holding your kite strings is the money pocket of GW that's why PS woman hate these types of men for real

    9. Not to mention the overly competitive people that "Know" every little detail about their army (which is an internet list and has 0 practice runs) and have played it "forever", then when the new dex comes out, suddenly "have" this army which is completely made up of only new models and has been in the closet waiting for just the right dex to come out so it can be used. Oh, and they also "Know" every little detail about this new army.

Its not about what the player can and cant do. Its about sportsmanship. Bandwagon jumpers are literally looking to Win At All Costs. There is absolutely no other way to see them. They always move to the newest codex because the new dex ALWAYS wins. Generally they use only internet lists and have never actually run practice lists, learning the ins and outs of their army. Bandwagon jumping is up there with unpainted armies in my book. The only reason GW stopped painting standards was to grab more cash from the players who didnt want to or werent able to paint. I personally get tired of playing grey armies that have a dex change every other game. I also get nerd rage from rants that are anon. If you are going to call someone out, do it right.

    10. The biggest problem with Bandwagoners is their label is put on you no matter how innocent you really are. I have been accused of being one because I play a grey knights army, regardless of the fact that I've had the Daemonhunters codex since release and all my knights are made of metal with the chunky halberds! And then some kids tell me I'm playing my army wrong because I'm not using Draigo-wing or Purifier/Razorback spam. Apparently games-workshop forgets to tell them it's supposed to be fun...

I think you have no idea about life. Women don't like men who have multiple armies? That is the stupidest thing i have heard on any forum ever. I have 4 armies DA,BA,SW,GK and guess what i have focus, enough focus that i can play any of those armies and compete just fine. People like to change up their style it has nothing to do with their life goals. I have a career a house wife and a family with my four armies and zero lack of self control. i think you need to look at your life because to same multiple army choices reflect real life choices and can reflect ones social life is quite a bit crazy. Remember this is a hobby no more no less this is not life.

    12. I have some many incomplete armies, but then I'm a hobbyist rather than a gamer, and I buy whatever I think looks cool and fun to paint.

I've got units from about 10 different armies, and only one army completed (White Scars - which I needed to have for a tournament).

I would hate to be called a bandwagon jumper, when I'm motivated by not what's most powerful, but what is new and what I think is cool to play.

People who criticise others for following the herd, are also trying to impose another type of herd mentality on people. It's like a weird form of inverse snobbery.

    13. Okay what I am trying to say is a lot of people are wishy washy well GW gets rich and all you do is throw money to the wind, also I have seen so many players begin then stop cause they want to be the newest Hollywood army star in there deluded minds with out really looking at well does this army suit my play style, do i identify with things in this army, do i like the primarch, do i like the fluff do i like the look of the models. for the people I met who play a certain army and have taken the time to paint and make it look nice cause they really are into that army s back ground and history I fully respect but for others I just kinda think in side my self what non focused wishy washy followers or band wagon jumpers with no identity.

I understand what you are trying to say, GW presents new models people get excited and then spend money on such models, making GW rich. However take a step back for a moment, you may take the time to read the fluff and truly care about the army you play but from my experience with the hobby is people buy what they think is cool and will win them the game. From your last couple of posts it's obvious that wargamming is not your hobby but a life choice you have made to be a part of, which is completely ok, but before you speak poorly about people who get excited about new models think about your life and what could be a slight "obsession" or loyalty to a fictional army and characters. Like I said before this is a hobby no more no less. Anyway happy wargamming!

  3. They look amazing - I just can't do the prices anymore and have taken to refurbishing older armies instead of buying anything new.

    1. come May all equaly sied kits will up in price to this lvl.

i wonder why the flyer is 1,-€ more than the helldrake? Is GW so greedy they had to take that 1 extra € from us too?

      Delete
    2. Personally, the prices are completely insane. I want the flyers, but I dont like the models, so I am probly going to have to kitbash my own. There was a guy on ebay selling 3 storm talons for 100 bucks. These new fighters look just like talons with wings. I think its time to MODIFY!

    1. Not with Armour 10 all around and 2 Hull Points you aren't. THe LSV is pure fail.

      Delete
    2. agree
      its failtastic -.-
its prob over 100 points aswell

only way to use it, is to deepstrike and blast smth and hope for the best

      Delete
    3. It could coast 10 points and the blast be S10 AP1 for all we know. Just because it's AV10 and has 2HP doesn't mean it's a fail, I mean two would fit well with a Landspeeder/Landspeeder Darkshroud heavy list, it's a Landspeeder it's not known for unpenetrable armour.

      Delete
    4. It's really gonna come down to point vaules. At first glace a normal landspeeder doesn't seem so smart to take when it has AV10 with two hit points. But if you take into account it has a low points value AND the new 6th edition Jink rules are simply awesome with having a cover save at almost all times even when deep striking, more then makes up for it.

    5. Ur mistaken if u think I'll b just letting them in the open lol. Im not new at this. By turn 2 my death wing will be on top of shit...I have no worries. B glad to post a brief batreps n let u know how we'll they did. Thanks for the worries lol but they'll b fine...

    6. @ callum
      Well we know
      Its got 2 Fire Modi
      3 3" blasts s7 ap2
Or 1 5" blast. wich might be Str 10 we dont know

But like a vindicator it will be youre Opponents Goal to kill it fast! Its a Bigger speeder so points Schuld be 55-60 + 40-60 for 3 Plas shoots fair. So yes prob Around 100. Wich can be ok. But you really have to make yore points back with this Thing. I would deepstrike & try to get Rear AV or kill Termis or smth crucial. Try to go Around Cover by deepstrike.
Hard to make work vs a Good Opponent IMO

    7. I was just saying that because we really don't know exactly what it'll be, it will probably just be Plasma Cannon profile. I think 100 points is quite cheap, and I would take 2 any day of the week at that price. But as I said, it well create great syngery with Landspeeder/Darkshroud heavy lists (4+ jink, yes please).

  5. I noticed that one of the videos was uploaded around November or something, I though that was quite weird.

    1. It's not weird... If you noticed there was a lot of promotion about DA June to September since the release of the sixth edition... then CSM were released and DA disappeared from GW marketing until december...
I still think DA were meant to be released earlier but something in the way made GW change their minds and release CSM first...
But who cares??? DA are here now so let enjoy them, if you can afford the new models... ;)

    2. Yeah, I can just find it funny due to how "sudden" GW's releases are, when in reality they're planned for quite a while. And honestly, who can afford the new models? But, I'll get what I can!

  6. I agree about the prices over $500 aus for one set! But ok going to by off an independant stockist I use on ebay

    1. $85 for a codex is a bit harsh on the wallet as well. I always liked DA but I think ill stockpile my cash for my first love tau. Especially if they land in may as its bday time and the Mrs can't complain then lol.

  7. I have two armies, a Dark angel one that's based on models from 2nd Ed (when i last played) and a Nurgle Death Guard army that i began when the new codex came out and i liked the typhus model.

I've ordered a flyer and 1 box of each of the knights. i wasn't a fan of the Land speeder till i saw one in person at my local GW (manager showed me the one he was painting up for release next weekend. off the back of that I've now ordered one of them too.

The new models are essentially a nice upgrade for my current force.

    I've very excited.
